Res Publica Duo Tour
at Liskerrett
The People's String Foundation are an army of bohemians and vagabonds hailing from the
grass roots of British music culture; Mixing world, Classical and urban styles in anarchic
embroilment.
This Cornish band is fronted by the virtuoso violinist
Ben Sutcliffe (Director Of Music for Rogue Theatre,
Kneehigh Theatre and the Minack Theatre) with co-
founder and composer Zaid Al-Rikabi at the core. This
Autumn Ben and Zaid are packing their 32 piece Gypsy
Orchestra into a suitcase and taking the “Virtual
Orchestra” on tour as a live duo, with their newest
album release “Res Publica”. And they are coming
here to Liskerrett. This music is sure to set your heart
racing, get your toes tapping, and warm the soul with
the people’s spirit and grafter’s hearts.
“The People's String Foundation is one of the great wonders
of the West - Stonking, earthy, organic, delicate, and
barn-storming. The upcoming Res Publica tour by The People's String Foundation is an impassioned and bold
project to bring a larger-than-life production to intimate or
remote venues. This work, of such big heartedness and
brilliance, is desperately needed!” - Charles Hazlewood -
conductor and composer
“The vocal performances are remarkable and the
orchestrations are inventive, exploratory and beautifully
performed. The entire piece is fresh and youthfully
enthusiastic with clear production values on a classical scale.
Surely these musicians and this piece are worthy of
consideration for this year's Mercury prize." - Ralph McTell
