TAKING A TRIP

At the age of 14, Emmett went to Money, Mississippi with his cousin to visit his great uncle Mose Wright. Emmett’s mom gave him a signet ring that belonged to his father, on the day before he went to Mississippi. His mother also told Emmett to watch what he said and did during his visit in Mississippi because of the racism that existed. Emmett told her not to worry about him.
