PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Unsettled children in the morning I must congratulate 99% of our students for the way they have settled and started working so hard so quickly this term. At times, we do have a couple of students who haven’t settled and are finding it hard to start class in the morning. As a school, we have handled these situations very well for a number of years. As a principal, this is my 13th year of dealing with such situations and I pledge to the community that I will continue to take a hands on approach when it comes to upset children. What isn’t helpful though (and I know you are all genuinely trying to offer assistance) is when a parent attempts to intervene during the situation happening or when other parents ring the parent of the child to inform them of what is going on. This can either lead to a longer time in trying to get the student back into class, or increasing the anxiety of the parent who already knows that their child is struggling of a morning. Just so everyone knows, our procedure is: 1. Try to settle the child as quickly as possible.

We ask the parent to leave quickly as the crying is all

for the parent’s benefit.

2. We try to get the child into the classroom as

soon as possible. This way the child can see the

positive role models in the classroom working and as

a result, will settle quickly to work.

3. Once settled, we either let the child ring at

Break 1 or we ring the parents to let them know their

child has settled and how that process went.

Whilst I appreciate the fact that other parents want to help in these situations, it truly is best if you leave to us to work our magic and then report back to the parents. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

On the other hand….. It has been a really fantastic start to the school year. Plenty of smiles from our new Kindy students (and their parents), our other students and teachers working very hard to deliver the best, our office staff warm, friendly and enthusiastic – despite the ongoing work, changes to school environment, lack of adherence to timeframes regards work in the school (astroturf, sandpit), the upheaval of moving our office, two building sites – everyone in our whole school community has amazed me with their ability

to be adaptable, flexible and positive. Thank you so much for all you do!

High School Forms We will be holding a High School form information night on Monday 2 March 2020 at 6pm in the Hall. At this information session, we will hand to you the High School forms and explain to you how to fill them out. The tips and hints we give you at this meeting are crucial if you want to have the best chance of sending your child to the high school of your choice. Please ensure at least one parent is in attendance if your child is in year 6 this year.

School 3-6 Swimming Carnival Our school’s annual swimming carnival / water safety day was held on Tuesday 11 February at Ruth Everuss Pool, and despite our recent rainy weather, it ended up being a very hot day, everyone had fun, which was fantastic! Students from Years 3-6 attended the carnival and had a great time either participating in a race or cheering them on and also participating in a rotation of activities run by the teachers.

Congratulations to all students for their excellent behaviour, sportsmanship skills and for their participation. A big thankyou to all of the parents who volunteered to help on the day, for without their help

our day would not have been as successful or enjoyable. Thank you also to our wonderful staff, especially our carnival organiser Mr. Windle, who continues to put in great efforts to make each experience for the students a valuable and enjoyable one, particularly the swimming carnival committee who organised an excellent community event. The Auburn Zone Swimming Carnival will be held at Auburn Pool on Thursday 5 March (in two weeks) so good luck to all the swimmers representing our school. Remember: Participation is Winning !

For the record, Didgeridoo won the carnival on 327 points, followed by Boomerang on 294 points Woomera on 242 points, and Nulla Nulla on 208 points. Results appear later in this newsletter.

P&C Meeting Our first P&C meeting was on Monday 10 February with only 10 parents coming. I must say it was still a very productive and friendly atmosphere, and I enjoyed speaking to all of the parents before and after the meeting. Our next meeting is the Annual General Meeting and will be held on Tuesday 10 March,

Page 3: The - lidcombe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · 2. We try to get the child into the classroom as soon as possible. This way the child can see the positive role models in the classroom working

starting at 9.15am in Lidbury Hall, directly after our K-6 assembly. All are welcome !

Scripture Scripture lessons won’t start until Tuesday 25 February, 3-6 sessions 1.50-2.20pm and K-2 sessions 2.20-2.50pm. You have the option to withdraw your child from SRE at any time by notifying the school in writing. If we do not receive a signed note from you, we will assume no change to the current arrangement. We will also be running Digital Citizenship classes during this time for the children who don’t attend scripture. We would like to have a massive effect on how our children think about their roles with technology and social media platforms.

Leave for Mr. Lewis Don’t forget I will be travelling to South Africa from 6 March to 27 March for the Over 50’s Cricket World Cup. Mr Duffy will relieve as Principal during this time and I will be back on Monday 30 March. A slight change to what I announced last newsletter, Mrs Olivia Peach will take 5/6A for the 3 week period not Mr Turner-Williams.

Cyberbullying Incredibly disappointing was the fact that I had too many chats last year with Stage 3 students about their involvement with Social Media and Cyberbullying. One chat got so bad on a weekend, a parent contacted me to ask for assistance. I am more than happy to implement punishments for behaviour that is not up to the standards a Lidcombe PS student should be measured against but I will also recognise that I am fighting a losing battle. If, as a parent, you choose to ignore my advice, my experience or think you know better when it comes to social media platforms and safety, then good luck ! I have been warning everyone about these pitfalls and the need to stay connected with your children and vigilant when things may crop up, for years now. I feel as though I have no chance in correcting behaviour like this at school, as parents don’t support my stance and just want their child to be “the coolest”. Parents need to recognise the age restrictions on these social media platforms (ie. 13 years plus) are there for a reason – your child is not mentally capable of dealing with the negative issues that come with social media. Plus, they have had to lie to gain access (about their age). They lie about this, what else are they capable of lying about ??? Even then, when my

children turned 13, they asked for social media and I said, no, this is where your year long education starts, so they can be positive contributors on social media, know the pitfalls of posting questionable content and have the required growth mindset to deal with tricky situations. Most adults don’t get this, which is, I can’t think for the life of me, why would parents let their children join social media at 10 years old – or even younger ???? Which is why we pushed forward with Anti Bullying / Anti Cyberbullying workshops at the end of last week. These were provided at no cost to families. We arranged a parent workshop for last Thursday in our school hall so that parents could be aware of the dangers of leaving your child unsupervised on such platforms, which was well attended with 45 people coming along.

Medical Issues As a reminder, we have a few children who have an extreme allergic reaction (which can be life threatening) to peanuts and other nuts. This means that this child cannot come into contact with other people who have eaten nut products (eg. Nutella, peanut butter, any types of nuts or any foods that contain nuts or nut products). I realise that the school can never really be nut free, but I’m sure that all parents can be very vigilant about this problem and not send their children to school with anything that contains nuts, including home made birthday cakes etc. This way, we will become nut-aware. It is a challenge for us at school as well as our community, but I am confident that everyone will pull together to make our school a safe place for every child. As a rule anyway, if your child does present as ill before they come to school, it is better that you keep them at home, so as not to spread the disease throughout the school. We respectfully request that all children and parents of Lidcombe PS follow these guidelines over 2019 and beyond. If you have any enquiries regarding this, please contact me at the school office.

Page 4: The - lidcombe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · 2. We try to get the child into the classroom as soon as possible. This way the child can see the positive role models in the classroom working

Whilst on the subject of medical issues, if your child(ren) have contracted a virus or sickness of some sort (eg. measles, chicken pox, mumps etc), the office needs to know straight away. We have a child in the maintenance phase of cancer treatment, meaning this child’s immune system is at a very low level where illnesses like this could have a major effect. Please ensure you let us know straight away!!!

Mobile Phones While it is accepted that mobile phones play an important part in modern life and communications, it is important that all staff, students and parents accept that their use during class time and on various other occasions at school is inappropriate.

If mobile phones are to be brought to school by students, they need to be left at the office during school time and picked after school at 3pm. Parents and carers must give written permission for students to bring mobile phones to school. The school will not accept any responsibility for a mobile phone being lost or damaged.

Dark Sky – Light Reduction Policy Former students Ashley, Yagin, Nicholas and Ethan presented their ‘Light Reduction Policy’ to all councillors within Cumberland Council at the Council chambers last week. It was also great see not only their parents, but Mrs Pant and Miss An again too. The Councillors were very impressed and we hope they will adopt the policy. If they do, they will be the first council (outside Siding Spring’s adjoining councils) to adopt the policy and the first council to adopt a policy written by primary aged school students. Fingers crossed !

For our new Kindergarten parents….. Our new Kindergarten students have settled in well and have begun their great journey for learning in the primary years with great enthusiasm. Just a couple of reminders are below to help you make your child as successful as possible: *All students need to wear closed in shoes – no sandals or thongs ! *All students must be wearing a school hat outside as part of our Sun Safe policy. They are only $15 at our uniform shop. PLEASE make sure you label all hats with your child’s name. *It is summer at the moment, so jumpers are probably not a wise thing to dress your children in. Put the jumper in your child’s bag if you are worried. *We have a program called “Crunch and Sip” happening at 10am in the classrooms. Your child needs a small portion of fruit (bite-sized) and water to drink every day for this activity. Please see further information regards Crunch and Sip in this newsletter. *Please ensure that you pack an appropriate amount of lunch to eat each day. We have witnessed some Kindergarten students take almost the whole of their lunch break to consume what they have for lunch. Play time is important too. *Whilst you can do a lunch order for your child, Kindergarten students won’t be served at the canteen windows just yet. We will give them a practice in Term 4, but until they have a better concept of money and what they can buy, we don’t let them buy at the canteen.

Excursions and School Performances During the year the students will be provided with opportunities to participate in excursions, visiting performances and other activities that cost money. These activities are very important to the overall education of your child(ren) and therefore it is expected that all children involved will attend. If parents require assistance with payment for any of these activities, please speak to Mr. Lewis.

Auburn Zone PSSA trials Unfortunately, these were cancelled late last week due to bad weather but trials were held yesterday and today after school hours. I just wanted to congratulate Mrs Matthews (Softball Coach) and Mr Stephens (AFL coach) for taking these volunteer roles on. Great to see our teachers step up for all students in Auburn Zone !

Breaking News ! Mr Stephens informed all of Stage 3 after B1 today that Jireh Fanene, Tai Soliola, Isaac Alameddine, Aryan Singh, George Magnus and Uate Sevele have made the Auburn Zone PSSA AFL team – congrats boys. We will

Page 5: The - lidcombe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · 2. We try to get the child into the classroom as soon as possible. This way the child can see the positive role models in the classroom working

be notified by email about yesterday’s Girls Soccer and Netball trials. This afternoon (Thursday) will be Boys and Girls Softball trails and Boys Soccer trails. Good luck everyone !

Summer PSSA Sport We are also entering into Summer PSSA sport this yea. The sports on offer are: *Junior and Senior Cricket *Junior and Senior AFL (Aussie Rules) *Senior Boys and Girls Softball *Junior Boys and Girls T-ball *Junior Mixed, Senior Boys and Girls Basketball

Trials were completed last Friday, giving your child in years 3 to 6 three chances of trying out for PSSA Summer Sport teams. If successful, your child will need a permission note signed by you to participate, they will need to sign a code of conduct sheet and pay the PSSA sport fee (one off payment for the term) before the season commences. Summer PSSA sport will commence on Friday 21 February 2020 (this Friday - tomorrow – how exciting !)

Meet the Teacher evenings Thank you to everyone that made time to come to our Meet the Teacher evenings over the last couple of weeks. It is very important to hear the types of structures that are set into place for your children, to understand them and support them. It is no secret that if the bond between the teachers and the parents is strong, the confidence of the child grows stronger. More confidence at school = more learning ! Now that you all have a stage overview of what each stage will be covering throughout the year, maybe you can contribute to their learning as well by talking about the topic or assisting with their research. It is also very important to speak positively about the school to your children. Our students deeply care about our school and anything negative will be a shock to them. Like us as a staff, I’m sure you want your children to love their school, to be completely engaged and to love learning, so ensure positive conversations with them about school are happening, but if you see that there is a problem, speak to us about it – that is our partnership – and I promise you, nothing will be swept under the carpet, we will investigate or rectify the situation immediately.

Homework Homework will start in week 5 for all stages. Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 will be organising Homework under the same grid system we have used for the last few years. In these grids, there will be compulsory items to complete each week, as well as some optional activities for those students who are

exceptionally keen. The format and content was discussed at the recent Parent/Teacher Information nights. It is important to remember a couple of things: *If there is a problem with the homework, please seek out your child’s teacher or stage supervisor to discuss it. *If your child is feeling overwhelmed by the homework and tears start, stop them from doing the homework and inform your child’s teacher. *Some of the compulsory homework will be differentiated to suit the student’s level. Like everything, we are here to support your child and you as parents as well. Please let us know if there is a problem and we will rectify it as soon as possible.

Toilets The toilets at the end of our school buildings are for the use of the students only. If you are on site and are in desperate need to go to the toilet, please go to the office and use the toilets there. As I’m sure you can appreciate, having adults and school students access the student toilets (someone even used the inside Kindergarten toilets !) at the same time can create a child protection issue. There are signs on our toilets saying “No Parents allowed” – please do not use them – it is a Child Protection Issue !

Payment via Credit Card is coming ! Adopting a new system at any time is a very hard thing to do, but I wanted to say quickly we are listening to our community, and as such are putting steps into place to make it happen.

After discussions with Mrs Rush, our office manager and Mrs Lopes, the other person involved with processing these payments, we are starting the training process now. While we still feel that first term is not the best time to do so, other things happening later in the year have moved us to register with the department for a 'go live' date of 20 March 2020 so that our parents will have the convenience of online payments. Information will be sent home to parents on how to use this facility via notes, the newsletter and Facebook in the near future.

Unfortunately, this does not extend to online ordering at the canteen. The canteen is run by an outside company and we have no control over how they choose to accept orders. A big thank you to Mrs Rush and Mrs Lopes for undertaking such a large task. Just a reminder The earliest time students should arrive at school is 8.30am. Any earlier than this means that I can’t guarantee their safety as a teacher will not be on the playground to supervise students until 8.30am. Please

Page 6: The - lidcombe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · 2. We try to get the child into the classroom as soon as possible. This way the child can see the positive role models in the classroom working

ensure your children arrive no earlier than 8.30am for their safety’s sake.

Platinum Awards Being Green suggests that your child is behaving very well and is doing what our teachers expect of them in the classroom and the playground. These awards in its current format have been running for over 3 years now. In our first K-6 Assembly of the year, our Week 4 recipients were:- Week 4 – Harsimrat Kaur (3B),Taeyang Yong (6F), Ciara Idris (3T), David Seo (6F), Lachlan Hill (5K), Leah Ajaj (6H), Hamza Cicek (5/6A), Maria Park (4L), Deha Ozdemir (4K), Iman Moradi (4L), Zara Goncalves (4K), Nouhad Ajaj (3B), Reiba Gurung (3B), Morgan Rzasa (6F). What a great start to the year students !

Car Parks / Parking Unfortunately, I must stress this particular point again, but in any case our new Kindergarten mums and dads might not be aware of this either. The car parking facilities (the Staff car park at end of Mills Street and the two located off Doodson Ave) must not be used by parents or carers to park in or walk through. Quite a few parents have been seen parking in our grounds or behaving in an unsafe manner outside the school, (mostly parents that know the rules !) but the fact is that if everyone started parking in our grounds, we would be seriously compromising the safety of the students. People have even been seen to let children out of the car whilst on the pedestrian crossing ! With parking rangers coming out just about everyday, that could actually end up being a very expensive mistake ! Please ensure you drop your child(ren) off outside the school in a safe manner or walk you children to and from school using the pedestrian access points, not through the car park.

Other parents have now complained about our parents double parking in Doodson Ave and Mills St., or even parking over resident’s driveways. What is happening is extremely dangerous and stupid, with students getting out of cars from the wrong side of the car into oncoming traffic. Please do not double park to let your children out. It is against the law and I have no problem contacting the authorities and giving them your license plate number if you are doing the wrong thing out there. We now have a dedicated parking ranger appointed to oversee this situation, so if you are doing the wrong thing, you will be fined ! However, it is about our behaviour as well. Parents need to realise that any aggressive behaviour or verbal abuse towards the school’s neighbours could result in a visit by the police, but also that is not how you want to represent our school community ! We are an intelligent, calm and common sense community, don’t downgrade you behaviour to such a level that it’s brings our wonderful school reputation down. I would really appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Open Night Homebush Boys HS will be having their Open Night next Tuesday 25 February at the school between 4.45 and 7pm. Year 6 parents (of boys) should make the effort to go. A note about several open nights went home last week to all year 6 children.

Lunches Occasionally, parents may not have time to organise lunch in the morning as everyone might have got up late or there is no fresh bread etc. In these cases, we encourage you to use the canteen as they provide menu items that are quite nutritious and healthy for our students to eat. Sometimes, we don’t even have the money around to access the canteen through lunch orders, so parents may bring in a sandwich to eat and some water to drink shortly before the start of Break 1, which is absolutely fine. What isn’t fine is when parents bring in food items from KFC or McDonalds. These types of foods are very high in calories and sugars and are not very nutritious for students. Apart from that, other students see that some students would be getting these types of foods and then requesting their mum or dad does the same for them. Before this gets out of hand, please do not provide your children with KFC or McDonalds or any other type of fast food like it here at our school. Young minds need healthy foods and if we are going to see improvement in results, we need to look after this area very carefully. Also, if you need to deliver your child’s healthy, nutritious lunch, please deliver it to the office first, do not go directly to the classroom as it could be

Page 7: The - lidcombe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au · 2. We try to get the child into the classroom as soon as possible. This way the child can see the positive role models in the classroom working

deemed a child protection issue. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Student Leadership Team With great pleasure I re-introduce to you in this newsletter the school leaders for 2020 who will do an outstanding job in leading our school. They are: School Captains: Lily Ivanac and Andrew Tran.

Vice Captains: Stephani Chow and George Magnus Prefects: Ecrin Caglayan, Saleh Al Imam, Abigail Chung, Jeremy Kim, Claire Li, Malik Yilmaz, Maddison Ha. Our school will be led by a group of students who are full of enthusiasm, reliability and pride in our school. They will not let anyone down and I look forward to seeing how they will work within these roles throughout the year.

Student Leadership Group Trip Rather than go to a GRIP Leadership course, Mr Windle decided he would design his own Leadership Day. They started off doing some team building activities at Field of Mars Environmental Centre, followed by so putt putt golf at Holey Moley in North Strathfield. The leadership team thoroughly enjoyed the day and we feel, Mr Windle and I, that they are certainly a closer bunch of kids as a result with a common goal moving forward.

House Captains and Vice Captains 2020 Congratulations to the following students for gaining selection of House Captain and Vice Captains for their houses. It is indeed a great honour to lead your sporting group.

Woomera Captains: Jessica Wong Ayoub Aitaider Vice Captains: Erica Battaglia Hamza Cicek Hassan Ali Didgeridoo Captains: Angelin Gunawan Aryan Singh Vice Captains: Acelya Karagoz Raid Alameddine Nulla Nulla Captains: Melodi Tok Tyler Morell Vice Captains: Elif Bicak Christian Sim Boomerang: Captains: Kayleila Raukete Jacob Song Vice Captains: Daneen Hamdan Ethan Singh

Flag Bearers One of most important jobs is making sure our three flags (Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands flags) are put out each day and taken in each night. In performing this role, it is important students remember to do this (as leaving them out ruins the integrity of the flag), but also be respectful when bringing them down or putting them up (ie. Never letting a flag touch the ground, two people to fold it neatly etc). We are fortunate to have 5 such respectful students to perform this role week in, week out. They are: *Ela Ozer, Morgan Rzasa, Ayah Saadeddine, Tayloe Thai and Henry Tseng. Congratulations to these students and thank you for undertaking this important school role.

Playground Engineers Our wonderful playground engineers this year, will not only help set up unique experiences for our students on the playground, they will also be available to help referee or supervise games to ensure the students are playing by the game’s rules. This will be a massive help to both Mr Minett and Miss Polman who are running playground activities this year.

Do you like our new greenscreen ??? With Years 5 and 6 doing STEM this term and focusing on iMovie and possibly responses to a wonderful program called ‘Film by the Sea’, we needed to respond quickly to their needs, got av friend of Mr Windle’s to gyprock the wall and paint it with a greenscreen colour to help jazz up their movies. Doesn’t it look like a hype of activity in Larcombe Hall ?

Closing the main school gate

If you are visiting the school during school hours and coming through the main school gate, please make sure the gate is closed behind you when you enter and when you leave to avoid a quick and easy exit for some of our younger students. We have a student in our school who is a flight risk, so this issue is very important !!! Also, we are keeping the pool gate near the Uniform Shop closed as well – please ensure when you walk through it, you close it behind you !

Also, we are closing the bottom gate at 9.05am for the next couple of weeks. We have a few runners in Kindy this year and I certainly do not want them to run outside the gates and onto the road. I know this is a hassle but it is necessary to do this. If you need to use the back gate, please exit by 9.05am. Thanks.

SCHOOL TIMES

Students MUST NOT arrive at school before 8:30 am and must leave promptly at 3:00 pm Parents are reminded that school supervision exists between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. A Before and After School Care facility is provided on the school site for parents needing child minding. Contact 9749 2817 after school hours for further details.

Leaving students unsupervised on school grounds has legal implications for both the school and parents.

Access to the school is only possible via the pedestrian gate near the sandpit (Mills Street) during school hours. All visitors must report to the school office. Unauthorised persons on school premises are considered to be trespassing and will be reported to the police.

SMOKING IS PROHIBITED ON SCHOOL PREMISES

Did you know???

For the safety of all students, toddlers, babies and adults, please do not bring dogs into the school grounds, even on leashes. Some children have a genuine fear and it can be quite distressing for them as well as for parents, particularly those with very young children. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Stage 3 Caps are back in stock. We are still waiting on embroidered items such as shirts and dresses but these should be in at any time. Keep an eye on FB for updates. It has been mentioned to us that parents are being rude to our

volunteers who run the shop – this is just not on! While we understand that everyone has somewhere to be, these ladies give up their own time to help out in the Uniform Shop every week out of the goodness of their hearts. Sometimes it gets very busy, especially at the beginning of the year and change of seasons and these ladies do an amazing job getting through everyone. We are always looking for more volunteers so please feel free to put your hand up to help if you have an hour or two to spare each week. If you are in a hurry and can’t wait in line, you are always able to place an order at the office and it will be filled the next time the shop is open and sent to your child’s class. We also have a few bags of lost property that require washing. If you are able to take a bag home to wash for us that would be much appreciated.

When in doubt go to the library. –J.K. Rowling

A famous quote from a very famous author says it all! This year we will be welcoming students to the library from Week 5 Term 1. Big changes have happened for the Library team and there will be three teachers in the Library for 2020. Ms Corli-Anne Brebner, Monday & Tuesday, Ms Allison Wong, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday and Mrs Shannon Wong-Nizic, Thursday & Friday. Miss Sandy Johnson continues as our ever knowledgeable Library School Administration Officer on Monday & Wednesday. This year is an incredibly exciting one for the Library! In Term 2, we will be established in our new, purpose built stunning library space. It is a move that Lidcombe students, teachers and parents have long wanted and needed so it is very exciting. This move does present some challenges so the library program this term will be a slightly different one to most other terms. We will be opening the Library in Week 5 for Research Hub and borrowing. Hub and borrowing will continue until week 9. In week 10 & 11 the Library will be closed as the library teachers manage the move to our new building. As you can imagine this is a huge task! There will be NO BORROWING in weeks 10 & 11 this term. We are all very excited by the opportunity to work within the Research Hub and Library in 2020! The Library Team

Are you a book enthusiast? Are you keen to have world class books available for your children and their friends? Can you spare an hour or two a week? Then WE NEED YOU!! The Library Team have lots of fabulous new books that must go through many steps to make them available for your children to borrow. If you have some time to spare to help label, cover and protect these new books we would sincerely appreciate the help.

Ideally, Miss Sandy Johnson is available to help train you in these processes on Monday’s and Wednesday’s but after initial training we would work with you to accommodate your schedule so you can help when it suits you. Please contact the schools office and let them know you’re interested and The Library Team will be in touch! We hope to hear from lots of you soon!! The Library Team

The USB’s have arrived and we are in the process of copying the files over. As you can imagine, this does take some time amongst everything else we have to do in the office. We hope to be able to send the finished USBs home next week.

Amazing! In Week 3, some classes attended the EnviroMentors workshops. The EnviroMentors are educators who teach schools about how we can care for our environment. Students learnt all about putting the right waste into the correct bins and learnt about where all this waste ends up. We had a wonderful time and went home to share this new information with our families.

LPS is excited to see our students continue to change the environment for the better. Remember, putting the right things into the correct bins will help keep lots of waste out of landfill so we can help keep our world beautiful! Keep learning and keep using your powerful knowledge to change the world, Lidcombe!

Our Playtime Sessions will start up again in Week 6, Monday 2 March – 9am-11am in Lidbury Hall. These sessions are open to all younger siblings of students at Lidcombe Public School and local pre-schoolers who will be starting school at Lidcombe in 2021. There is a $10 joining fee each year and a $2 per week fee which covers craft items. Come along to meet other mums, help your little ones gain valuable social skills while interacting with others. Weekly routine is: 9am-10.15am Freeplay 10.15am-10.30am morning tea, please bring a piece of fruit to share and a drink – preferably water 10.30am-10.50am Craft activity 10.50am-11am Storytime and songs

We will be starting Breakfast Club up again on Thursday 5 March. We are always looking for helpers from around 8.15am for about an hour to prepare, serve and clean up.

Breakfast Club is open to all students and is free each Thursday morning before school from 8.30 to 8.55am. Toast, cereal and milk is always on the menu and each week usually have one other choice eg. Pancakes, spaghetti, muffins etc. See below for what will be on offer this term.

This year we are also hoping that there may be a parent or two who would be able to go shopping for us on a Wednesday to pick up whatever we need – usually just bread and a few bits and pieces. It can be dropped off at school when you pick your child up in the afternoon. It would be so helpful to us – please see Julie or Sonia if you are able to help.
