Bridging the Gap Fund Drive
What does the phrase “being one in spirit and purpose” mean to you?
This phrase can be found in the joyful epistle that the Apostle Paul
wrote to the Church of Philippi – Philippians 2:1-2 says, “If you have
any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from
his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and
compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having
the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.”
We believe that Paul left the “being in one spirit and purpose” vague
for a reason. The purpose he mentions can be applied to any purpose
that furthers the cause of Christ. We believe that this verse applies
specifically to Kaufman Christian School. Our one purpose is to prepare
young men and women to exhibit Godly character and wisdom, but we
can only fulfill that purpose if we are of like minds, loving one another,
and one in spirit and purpose.
Some of you may or may not know that our tuition payments do not
cover the full cost of educating our children or providing enrichment
through Music, P.E., and Computer Lab. The decision has been made to
create an Annual Fund in hopes of “Bridging the Gap”. This year we
will take a break from our annual banquet and auction, which has
helped close the gap in years past, and will focus on the Annual Fund.
The kick-off date for this year’s campaign was December 9, 2013. Our
goal for the 2013-2014 Bridging the Gap Annual Fund is $35,000. This
goal can be reached with parent, grandparent, extended family, and
friends of KCS participation.
If you would like to make a donation, please mail it to the school -
401 N. Shannon St., Kaufman, TX 75142 or visit
www.KaufmanChristianSchool.com tab to make your Annual Fund
donation today.

The K4 students have done very well learning school routines and all about school rules. We had Teddy Bear Week the first week of school. Each student brought their favorite bear or animal to school with them each day and we incorporated them into our learning. This is our class picture on our first day of school.
Uncle Ugby is one of our favorite alphabet characters.
We have learned that each letter of the alphabet has a name and makes a sound. As we learn each letter, we cook with our Frog Street Friends.
We made Uncle Ugby’s Faces on a bagel for the letter U.
Octopus Stew made from wieners for the letter O.
When we learned the letter T, we had a tea party and we brought our favorite animals back to school for a visit. We ate toast in a triangle shape and drank lemonade tea.
Mini hamburgers for the letter H.

As you know, kids at this time of year are usually all about what they’re going to GET for Christmas. They always have a really long list. However, in First Grade, we turned the tables a little bit and made the students think more about giving. They were asked to answer the following: “If you could give someone you know a special gift for Christmas, and didn’t have to worry about how much it cost, what would you give that person and who would it be?” Here’s what they said:
Collin - I’d get my dad a big boat; my mom her own restaurant, and my brother a football stadium.
Keigan - I’d get my mom some nice flowers; my brother a truck with no strings, and my dad a new shotgun.
James - I’d get my mom some earrings and a watch; my dad a fishing boat, and my little brother a toy truck.
Peyton - I’d get my mom a necklace and earrings; my dad a Bible, and my puppy some squeaky toys.
Kaedon - I’d get my dad a new boat; my mom a nice new house; and the dogs some chew toys.
Adin - I’d get my dad a 410 shotgun and some soft shoes for my mom for when she teaches.
Lydia - I’d get my mommy a new computer and my Mimi a new house.
Hayden - I’d get my dad Texas A&M Stadium; my mom a million dollars, and Caleb the UT Stadium.
Emilie - I’d buy my mom a necklace; my dad a fishing boat for us to go fishing, and my sister a bunch of dress-up stuff.
Kassidy - I’d get my daddy some more M.A.S.H. movies that he hasn’t seen; my momma some flat shoes cause her back hurts; and my granny a new house.
Joseph - I’d get my dad a new car; my mom a trip to Mexico; J.T., Yankee Stadium; and Gage, a pirate spyglass.
Alec - I’d get my dad a nice big RV; my mom a nice boat; and Gracie, a kitchen.
Andy - I’d get my mom a waterproof phone with no case; my dad, a bunch of ducks to eat; and Lexi, a clean room.

The first semester of school has gone by so quickly and the 4th grade class
has been busy since the first day, not just with academics, but with special
activities as well. Here is a look into our first semester of school.
In September we enjoyed having our grandparents each lunch with us on
Grandparent’s Day and later in the month we traveled to Dallas for our
field trip with 3rd and 5th grades. Everyone enjoyed the Perot Science
Museum and all of its hands-on activities. Lunch was enjoyed at El Fenix
to round out our day. September ended with our See Ya at the Pole
chapel which was held around our flag pole.
October found us delivering Meals on Wheels for our community service
project and presenting our chapel program, “Eternity Travel Agency”. The
students in the 4th grade also did a wonderful job during our fall
fundraiser!
November and December have been all about the holidays, first
Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. Many of the 4th grade students had
roles in the Christmas program, “Cookin’ Up Christmas” and they were
absolutely fabulous in their respective parts!
Our prayer is that you and your family have a blessed Christmas and 2014
finds you drawn closer to God and to each other.
