    Presidents Report

It is hard to believe it has been a month since I took over as the President of the club. Somany things have happened during the month.

One of my aims when I took over the Presidency of the club was to increase the visibility ofthe club in Queanbeyan and we have certainly done that in July with a stall in Riverside onthe first two weekends where we invited people to an information night to inform them aboutRotary. We had a very sucsessful Alpacas for Polio day at an Alpacca farm and we had atable at the Queanbeyan Councils Xmas in July markets where we promoted the shop as wellas invited people to join us at one of our weekly meetings.

Eight people joined us for the information night and it looks like a couple of those are goingto join Rotary.

Natalie did a wonderful job in organising and running the Alpaca for Polio day raising over$400 for the fight against polio. This is truly a great result and thanks to Natalie's efforts thewomen who runs the farm has invited us back.

Because of the need to deal with a couple of administrative matters, our information nightand a visit of our District Governor we only had one guest speaker this month, this was HeidiFlaherty, the marketing manager from the Riverside Mall. Heidi has been a great friend to usin providing us with space in the mall whenever we need it. We took the opportunity to raisewith Heidi about having a display latter this year to promote the Rotary Shelter Box projectand I am talking with Heidi to come up with a suitable date.

It was my privilege to welcome DG Rowley Tompsett to our club for his official visit on the30 July and I have invited Rowley to join us at a few more of our meetings this year. I hope

that he can fit this into his busy schedule. His wife, Denise, spoke about her project for thisyear and she has asked that we sell some raffle tickets to support her project.

Thanks to the ladies at the shop, the shop had one of its best months ever and as a result wemade $426 commission for the month.

I joined Natalie and Andrew and some members from Wooden Daybreak to welcomeMagdalena to Canberra. Magdalena is from Austria and will be staying with Natalie for the

first part of her stay in Australia.

I note we still have a few entertainment books for sale, please make every effort to sell these.

Interact Club- Following the resignations of James and Jodie as the Interact coordinators theschool has appointed a new Interact coordinator. I will be meeting with Sarah and the schoolshortly and look forward to ensuring a close relationship between our club and the QHSInteract club.
