THE JOURNEY

The journey started in 2012, when Nicolò and Omar,friends as well as watch enthusiasts, founded 2DStraps,an Italian brand that makes leather watches straps forluxury watches with top quality Tuscany leather.

Their dream to build an authentic Italian timepiececomes true in 2017, when they founded VIQUERIAand launched, on Kickstarter, their first watch:VIQUERIA ROMA.

In 2019 and 2020 they launched 2 successfulKickstarter campaigns for the Mechanical and Meca-Quartz LEVANTE.

VIQUERIA is a start-up based in Voghera, Italy, acity close to Milano and hometown of the twofounders Nicolò and Omar, with the mission to deliverto Customers affordable but quality and appealingwatches, which does not cost an arm and deliverseveryday pleasure to wear.

ITALIAN ROOTS

The name of the Italian-rooted brand takes its originsfrom the ancient Italian history because we want togive to our products a strong footprint that rise fromour origins.

Viquèria is the ancient roman name given duringMiddle Age to the city of Voghera, located in thenorth of Italy far approximately 40 km from Milano.Our hometown was founded by Augustus, a Romanpolitician and general considered the first Romanemperor, controlling the Roman Empire from 27BC until his death in AD 14.

Known in ancient times as Iria, it took its name fromthe river on which it was situated. During Middle Ageit was destroyed by the Rugii, a tribe who migratedfrom southwest Norway. After several lordships, itwas acquired by the House of Savoy in 1743 with theConcordat of Worms. Five years later it becameprovincial capital and received the city status.During World War II, owing to its strategic positionon the roads Milan-Genoa and Turin-Bologna, it washeavily bombed by the Allies.

VIQUERIA TUONO

After 2 successful Kickstarter campaigns, we are proud topresent you VIQUERIA TUONO, our latest design that isalso a rare gem in the microbrand market.Three different souls converge on the VIQUERIA TUONO:

– Pilot Watch: The pilot must be able to read their watch inthe darkness of the cockpit, mandating maximum contrastbetween the dial and the bright white hands, strong luminousmaterial on the dial and hands, and traditional Arabicnumerals to indicate the hours. The rotating bezel with a largetriangle, may be used for a variety of flight requirements;

– Diver Watch: The diver’s watch begins with reliablewaterproofing, and a dial and hands that will providemaximum visibility in a variety of underwater conditions. Thebezel will be marked with a large triangle that the diver rotatesto mark the time of descent, as well as minute markers thatcount up to indicate the elapsed time of a dive;

– Racing Watch: This is our idea for an unconventionalracing watch, it doesn’t feature a chronograph or a tachometerscale, but we designed it with a resolutely sporty charactertinged with retro accents. All the elements are combined withthe Power Reserve indicator that looks like a fuel gauge andwith high-contrast dials that are easy to read at high speeds.

The VIQUERIA TUONO, thanks to its specifications isimpeccable from a technical standpoint thanks also to theMiyota watch movement. Our timepiece is one of the raremicrobrand watches that houses a Miyota 9130 movementwith Power Reserve indicator.

The case is water-resistant to 200 meters and fitted with ascrew-in crown adorned with the VIQUERIA logo. Thelist of features includes a unidirectional 120-click rotatableceramic bezel bearing a minute scale enriched withBGW9 Superlume.The TUONO is available with 3 Sunray dials withDegradée finish, enriched with BGW9 Superlume, and 1Full Lume dial with BGW9 and C3 Superlume.

The VIQUERIA TUONO is a really versatile watch thanksto the 316L Stainless Steel case with a diameter of 41mmand a lug to lug size of 48mm.All of our timepiece are assembled in Italy with passionand are shipped with a 24 months international warranty.

MIYOTA 9130

The Miyota company was established as a watch movementfactory for Citizen Watch in 1959 in Miyota, NaganoPrefecture, Japan.

Miyota is internationally recognized for its robustness andreliability of its movements and this is the reason why wehave chosen the Miyota 9130 caliber. That Japanese self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28.800bphvibrations per hour and is visible through the sapphiretransparent caseback.

The VIQUERIA TUONO is one of the rare microbrandwatches that houses a Miyota 9130 movement withPower Reserve indicator.

DEGRADEE AND FULL LUME DIALS

VIQUERIA TUONO is available in 4 mesmerizing styles:• Degradée Coffee Brown;• Degradée Thunder Grey;• Degradée Ocean Blue;• Full Lume Crystal White.

Popular in the 1970s, forgotten for a while and brought backon the scene recently, these colourful dials stand out withlighter tones in the centre that gradually darken towards theedges. Their gradient colour gives a rich depth to thedials, creating beautiful light effects.

The gradient effect gives depth to the dials, it also givesmore richness to the light effects and, depending on thelight, the dials changes tone, and the blue, brown and thegrey can come out more intensely than the black.

Furthermore, the VIQUERIA TUONO is also availablewith a Full Lume dial.

While majority of the pilot and diver watches useSuperLume on the dial and hands, we reversed this processby applying the entire dial with BGW9 SuperLume andmade the hands and numbers in black color and C3SuperLume.

HANDMADE STRAPS AND BRACELET

All VIQUERIA timepieces are fitted with handmadeleather straps made by the 2DStraps.For a great wear, we only the finest Italian leathers,which are renowned for their quality.

Special cares go into making Italian leather pieces thanany other leather product in the world. We only usenatural vegetable and plant extracts to turn hidesinto leather. It’s not mass produced and the processtakes longer than it would to produce cheaperalternative.

Furthermore, the VIQUERIA TUONO is equippedwith an optional Stainless Steel “Jubilee” bracelet withsolid links and a Made in Italy rubber strap with anice Vanilla scent.

316L STAINLESS STEEL CASE

Stainless steel is among the most protective shieldsaround. All VIQUERIA timepieces are manufacturedin 316L stainless steel, the same steel used to makesurgical and diving equipments, that has extra-lowcarbon content and is extremely resistant to corrosionsuch as seawater or acidic liquids.

Our steel is also magnetic resistant, unlike thegeneral-use stainless steel grade of 201or 304L.With Molybdenum added, it gives 316L a betteroverall corrosion-resistant property than 304L.Plus,our stainless steel’s low carbon content makes itparticularly resistant to corrosion from acidstypically found in the ocean and in perspiration.

Corrosion resistance of austenitic Stainless Steels, suchas 316L and 904L (used by some swiss brands), are verysimilar for all practical purposes in a watch.

At VIQUERIA, we have chosen 316L as the choice ofmaterial. We want to provide affordable timepieceswithout compromising quality.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL

A synthetic sapphire crystal or “glass” is actually not glass atall. It is a very hard, transparent material made of crystallizingpure aluminum oxide at very high temperatures.Synthetic sapphire has the same hardness as natural sapphiregemstones, but without the coloring agents that give thegems their various hues. When it is heated, the syntheticsapphire forms round masses, that are then sliced into pieceswith diamond-coated saws. These disks are then groundand polished into watch crystals. One reason sapphire crystalsare relatively expensive is that the tools required to cut andpolish this extremely hard material are very costly.

Sapphire is one of the hardest substances on earth. Itmeasures 9 on the Mohs scale, which is a system for rating therelative hardness of various materials.
