The 73rd Syndicate meeting of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur held under the chair of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor, IUB at the Abbasia Campus. The members included Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, Honourable Judge Lahore High Court, Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Member Provincial Assembly, Prof. Dr. Hameed Raza Siddiqui, Prof. Dr. Navid Akhtar, Prof. Dr. Shahida Ilyas, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Sumaira Malik, Khalil ur Rehman, Ali Ahmed Representative, Higher Education Department, Dr. Ghulam Hassan Abbasi, Shahzad Akhtar Malik, Representative, Finance Department, Kalsoom Akhtar and Shehzad Ali Gill, Registrar. The Syndicate approved adoption of 30 percent social security benefit

allowance for contractual employees as well as revised conveyance allowance for special persons. The members also reviewed

recommendations of tenure track rules implementation committee and fee structure committee. Matters relevant to study leave,

extensions in contracts, pension cases were also discussed.

Islamia University Bahawalpur regularized 544 contract employees from grade 1 to 18. These employees have been made permanent under the Punjab Regularization Act 2018. The decision sparked a wave of joy at the University employees and they paid gratitude to Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Dr Athar Mahboob and syndicate members

for resolving this long pending issue. Employees said that the way Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has resolved the long-standing problems of administrative, financial and academic research of the university in a very short period of time is a clear proof of his resourcefulness and excellent management skills. The declining trend of students

in the university was abruptly eliminated through the enrolment of 12,000 students. About 400 new teachers have been appointed. Classrooms, laboratories, transport and medical facilities for students have also been expanded and improved tremendously. Academic circles, civil society and other important sections of society also

joined hands with the university in terms of events and community development. All these sections of Bahawalpur welcomed these steps of the Vice Chancellor for the social and educational development of the area.

Selection Board of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur interviewed 42 candidates for 15 posts of assistant professor for departments of Applied Psychology, Commerce and Statistics. Meeting of selection board was held under the chair of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor while members included Dr. Shehzad Qaiser, Prof. Hameed Raza Siddiqui, subject experts and deans of faculties.

Ceremony to Distribute Prime Minister’s Electric Wheelchairs to Disabled StudentsAs many as 21 special students belonging to various universities of Southern Punjab were given electric wheelchairs under Prime Minister’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme for University Students in a ceremony at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Provincial Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhary was the chief guest on this occasion, he said that 208 electric wheelchairs are being distributed across the country during the first phase of this scheme. The Government accardig to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan is fully committed to promote education in the country and welfare of special students is being fully considered by providing them free education in universities. He appreciated the Higher Education Commission for execution of Electric Wheelchairs Scheme for Special Students of Universities and lauded Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for hosting a grand ceremony for special students of

Southern Punjab. Engr. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur visited AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), IBA Karachi. The purpose of this visit was to enter into a partnership with IBA, CED and work together to promote entrepreneurship in Bahawalpur and vicinity. Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Program Director IBA CED briefed him about the indigenous model of CED and its various programs of entrepreneurship. The Vice Chancellor also had a meeting with Dr. Huma Baqai, Acting Executive Director IBA Karachi. Dr. Huma welcomed Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and discussed various avenues of collaboration in higher education. He also had a tour of incubation and interacted with

the young entrepreneurs who were running their businesses from IBA CED incubation center.

The departmental Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Muhammad Shahid Nawaz, Assistant

Professor, School of Business Management & Administrative Sciences, Islamia University Bahawalpur and Azad Ahmed, Acting Manager, IBA CED in the presence of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and Dr. Shahid Qureshi. Both the institutions will devise action plan to schedule faculty development for entrepreneurship, teaching and launching incubation center at Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Hamdard University Karachi agreed to collaborate in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This was decided during a meeting of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Prof. Dr. Shabib ul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, Hamdard University Karachi. On this occasion, both the Vice Chancellors signed an MOU to promote teaching and research and initiate joint research project in the field of medicines, quality control, cosmetics, nanotechnology, bio-studies, clinical studies and pharmacology. The two universities will encourage research at post doctorate level and share technical information besides managing faculty and students exchange programs. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar,

Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships ProgramEngr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, praised the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Program benefiting 50,000 students across the country. As many as 5323 students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

have been registered for this program which will enable them to pursue their studies without any financial hurdle. He further added that a special help desk was established and training sessions were held to apprise students about

this scheme as a result thousands of students of this region are availing benefits from this educational friendly scheme of Government of Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor Announces Mega Development ProjectsEngr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur said university has planned mega development projects to promote this institution as center of excellence. He said that various steps have been taken for the promotion of quality education in the three districts

including Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar through sub campuses of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur. Talking to radio Pakistan he said that after the completion of mega projects it will be a leading University which will cater the educational need of the remote areas of South Punjab as

well as of Cholistan. He said that for the first time, the university will play very important and central role during the upcoming 15th Cholistan Jeep Rally through trade fair, establishment of stall by university’s veterinary college and college of arts and designs for the promotion of centuries old art

and culture of Cholistan desert. He told that soon after assuming his charge, he has re-launched evening programs in those disciplines which had been closed down so that more students can enroll in the university. He further stated that an extensive campaign was launched during the admission season under one

window operation by the university, resulting in receiving of record sixty thousand applications out of which eight thousand students were declared eligible purely on merit to get admission in the various programs of the university. Responding to a question, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob informed that special anti-hepatitis campaign was launched across the university for its students and employees, under whom twenty-one thousand persons including students, employees and their families were screened with the collaboration of local health department. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that the promotion of quality education through faculty is his mission so efforts are being made to hire qualified teachers to enrich the existing faculty of different departments and in this regard the number of faculty has been increased upto eight hundred through merit based recruitment and he is committed to extend it up to one thousand and one hundred faculty members. He informed that seven buses and two coasters

have been included in existing fleet of university’s transportation wing costing one hundred million rupees and now total number of

buses and coasters has been raising upto fifty eight. He said for the first time in the university’s history the administration has decided to extend its buses route upto Yazman, Khanqah Sharif and Lodhran district and soon it will be extended upto Ahmed Pur East and Khair Pur Tamewali to cater the needs of the students belonging to those areas. Mahboob said he firmly believed upon the linkages, joint ventures and collaboration of different institutions for the promotion of

research culture and in this regard about thirty six MOU’s have been signed with different department including Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Press Club, Bahawalpur Civil Hospital, Punjab Live-Stock Department, Hamdard University, Karachi, ACCA and other institutions. He informed that for the first time in the Bahawalpur’s history, a three-day literary festival

will be organized by the next month in university for the promotion of arts, culture, literature, and other fields of performing arts in the

region which will be attended by a galaxy of stars from different walks of life. While discussing his future plans, the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said his dream to convert the university among top five of the country during his tenure and for achieving this target he in working hard along with his entire faculty members and staff as he believes in team work.

building will facilitate modern research and teaching in the field of Pharmacy. The Vice Chancellor expressed these views during the closing ceremony of 2nd International Pharmacy Conference organized

by Department of Pharmacy, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The country demands expansion in the health sector due to fast growing population, on the other hand this sector also has tremendous job

potential. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is establishing allied health departments including nursing which has a rising demand both nationally and internationally. Punjab Government has also agreed to fund new building for College of Conventional Medicine which will surely boost teaching and research in alternative medicines. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy said that as many as 170 national and international delegates participated in the conference and presented research papers in the field of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in three-day proceedings. Conference focal person Dr. Asad Ullah Madni highlighted exhibition organized on the occasion of international conference to showcase industrial and commercial research in the field of Pharmacy.

Third International Conference on Teaching and Learning was conducted at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. As many as 300 delegates from Belgium, Canada, UK and Pakistani Universities participated in two-day international event held in collaboration with the Punjab Higher Education Commission. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur inaugurated the conference while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, National Skills University, Islamabad delivered keynote address on teaching workplace skills. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob in his address said that at present, new paradigms are shrinking our world. Innovations are the intersection of ideas. Information and communication technologies are emerging as the new powerful means of transferring knowledge for better and result-

oriented teaching and learning. The future research would be based upon the exploration of the impact of Information

Communication Technology on students’ learning achievements. In this scenario, the IUB has a distinct record of achievements in the field of education, and

research right from its inception in 1975. It has always been active in establishing collaborative linkage with reputed institutions,

international academic bodies and with well-known organizations for achieving excellence on the basis of electronic technology. The academic excellence has put IUB

at the eleventh position out of 73 general category higher education institutions in the country. The IUB has been playing a significant

role to IUB provide tenth of millions of rupees each year to the departments of natural and social sciences and the associated constituent professional instituting colleges of engineering, agriculture, veterinary, eastern conventional medicines and arts and design to establish the state-of-the-art researchers. IUB has awarded outstanding research incentives to the faculty that commensurate with the quality and impact factor of their research papers. Our graduates and doctors are serving the humanity in all fields at national and international institutions. We are open to the community by introducing several civic service and co-curricular activities. Prof. Dr. Akhtar Ali, Dean Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Irshad Hussain, Chairman, Department of Education and Dr. Abid Shahzad, Founder and Chief Organizer of the conference also spoke on this occasion.

British Council has awarded scholarships to four girl students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under Pakistan Scholarships Program. A ceremony was held at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus in Bahawalpur to distribute scholarship certificates among students. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor and Amir Ramzan, Country Director, British Council attended the meeting. The

Vice Chancellor praised the Pak UK Education Gateway promoting higher education in Pakistan through collaboration with the Higher Education Commission. It is important to mention here that as many as 36 girl students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have availed Pakistan Scottish Scholarships worth Rs. 4.1 million since 2013

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur will setup a state-of-the-art nursing school to meet demand of health professionals in the region. This

was stated by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor during his meeting with Dr Rozina Karmaliani Interim Dean, School of

Nursing and Midwifery during his recent visit to Agha Khan University Karachi. He said that the university is currently in expansion phase and

starting various programs matching needs of the market. Nursing is one of the fields which lack qualified professionals in the country particularly in Southern Punjab. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has recently established a faculty of Allied Medical Sciences including a nursing school keeping in view the demand of human resource in this area. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor discussed syllabi and other technical details to initiate educational programs in the field of nursing. He was of the view that academic excellence will be ensured to boost teaching and research in medical sciences and collaboration with national and international institutions will be encouraged. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur added seven new buses and two coasters to its transport fleet in order to facilitate the students. Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Asif Iqbal Chaudhry and Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob inaugurated the addition of new buses and coasters. The addition of new vehicles is part of Vice Chancellor’s vision of extending transport facility to adjoining cities in order to facilitate the students especially the females. At present, university buses are covering a radius of 60 kilometers within and around the city. The new buses will help in providing conveyance facility to existing students in addition to 8000 newly recruited students and 3000 students expected to be recruited in spring semester.

Mahmood Iraqi, Vice Chancellor, Karachi University. He said that Karachi University has been one of the leading University of the

country while the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has also a historic background and collaboration of both the universities will bring academic excellence. Dr Khalid Iraqi welcomed Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and talked about interactions at faculty and student level between the two universities. Later, both the Vice Chancellors attended a seminar on Allama Iqbal at Urdu department where Dean of Social Sciences Faculty, Karachi University, Dr. Nasreen Aslam Shah and Head of Urdu department Dr. Tanzeem ul Firdous welcomed them. Speakers including faculty members and scholars highlighted various aspects of Alama Muhammad Iqbal paying him rich tribute for his contributions in Urdu literature as well as his visionary leadership which later resulted in creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent.

E-Rozgar Center Established at IUBPunjab Information Technology Board has established a state-of-the-art computer laboratory to train 100 students under e-Rozgar Program. The E-Rozgar Center was inaugurated by Samiullah Chaudhary, Minister of Food, Punjab

during a grand ceremony at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Engr. Prof.Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur,

Director General Information Technology Board Punjab Sajid Latif were also present on this occasion. The Provincial Minister said that present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan is keen to equip youth with

the latest knowledge to compete globally. As many as 40 E-Rozgar Centers have been setup across the Punjab in 36 districts. Engr.

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor in his address said that Punjab Information Technology Board has agreed to establish 4 E-Rozgar centers in four Campuses including Abbasia campus and two sub campuses in Bahawalnagar and

Rahim Yar Khan. Each center has capacity to train 100 students at a time having an attached business incubation center to encourage

Bahawalpur having a great cultural heritage dating back to thousands of years old Hakra Valley and ex princely state of Bahawalpur can be a fascinating tourist place in winters. This was stated by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor during a meeting with Javed Iqbal Chaudhry, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bahawalpur. The Vice Chancellor lauded efforts of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce for organizing Trade Fair 2020 at Derawar Fort during Annual Jeep Rally. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur will showcase local art and culture, Cholistani herbal products having medicinal value and encourage thousands of youth visiting the jeep rally to promote entrepreneurship. The President of Chamber of Commerce thanked

the Vice Chancellor for University participation in the trade fair which

will be a new beginning in the jeep rally to project Bahawalpur

culture land commerce and local agribusiness industry.

A two day Bahawalpur Literary and Cultural Festival inaugurated in Islamia University Bahawalpur. The celebrations started with beautiful recitation and naat competition, which was presided over by the guest Qari Muhammad Ali Abdul Aati from egypt, Al-Azhar Cairo. He recited the holy Quran in a passionate voice. Addressing the opening ceremony, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur said that for the first time in the history of the university, this kind of activity has been organized on a big scale. Meditators, intellectuals, poets, writers and anchors from all over the country participated in this festival other than that sufi poetry mehfil along theatre, debate and digital competition were also inaugurated. Its wealth and work workshops and speeches and lake competitions have also been organized. On this occasion, he praised the head of these ceremonies Syed Tabish Alvari,

Javed Qqbal Chaudhry President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce, District Administration, Mass Communication Management, Arts Council, Press Club Bahawalpur, Parks and Horticulture Authority, Radio Pakistan, DHA and cooperation of heads of other organizations. Distinguished parliamentarian Syed Tabish Alvari said that dear country Pakistan was established for the revival and implementation of Islamic civilization and culture. The former state of Bahawalpur was the guardian and protector of the great Islamic tradition. Today, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is promoting this educational and civilization heritage to transfer it to young generation which is undoubtedly a great national service. Renowned journalist and intellect Wajahat Masood said that

cities and universities are the center of civilization and culture. Cities grow civilization while universities grow cultures. Bahawalpur and the Islamia

University of Bahawalpur are the best examples of this and the

Islamia University of Bahawalpur has achieved a unique position by organizing such an ideal event. Dr. Shahid Rizvi presented a dissertation on City Bahawalpur history,

educational institutions, and state of Bahawalpur. On the first day,

competitions were held for the social media mobile app. Artists from different parts of Southern Punjab also performed on regional music. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob also inaugurated an exhibition of local handicrafts where stalls of local commodities have been set up. The book exhibition was inaugurated by Syed Tabish Alvari. At the Hakra Art Gallery, art works presented by teachers and students were exhibited. A clean and green Pakistan Campaign was also launched in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus for planting trees. Outside central auditorium fruits exhibition was also arranged. On this occasion, food festival was also arranged where stalls of local food along different food chains were held. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Malik Habib Ullah Bhutta, Director News Radio Pakistan Abdul Hadi Mayar, Sheeren Gul, Jahan Ara Abbasi, Naseer Ahmed Nasir, and other participants. the two-day Bahawalpur Literary and Cultural Festival at Islamia University Bahawalpur, Kashmir issue, Media Communication, especially, Media Conclave on social media and youth topic were discussed. Participants said that the issue was highlighted again due to social media on international horizon and drew the attention of governments and public institutions towards the issue. The youth of occupied kashmir launched a very comprehensive campaign on this issue on social media, as a result of which the Indian Government was shaken and the echoed in the upper houses. Through social media, our youth can strengthen Pakistan’s position by highlighting Kashmir issue and other related issues. Media Conclave was presided over by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor. The Kashmir freedom movement is an indigenous movement which cannot be suppressed by the use of power by the occupied Indian forces. The current phase of Kashmiri movement launched by resilient Kashmiri youth has been highlighted all over the world and brutal use of force over innocent civilians is being condemned all over the world. This was stated during a seminar held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor presided the seminar. Prof. Dr. Asmat Naz, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Women University Multan

delivered extensive lecture on this occasion. They said that right of plebiscite is the basic human right of Kashmiri people which they are demanding since the partition of British India. The United Nations also promised to hold plebiscite in Kashmir and Kashmir issue is still an unfinished agenda of partition as well as United Nations. Pakistan is highlighting this issue on every forum providing moral and political support to people of Kashmir. This issue has become a global challenge threatening the international peace. International Workshop on X-ray Crystallography in Structural Biology

The 4th International Workshop on X-ray Crystallography in Structural Biology was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Engr. Prof.

Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor was the chief guest of inaugural session. As many as 60 delegates from Brazil, Denmark, United Kingdom and various universities and research organizations of Pakistan participated in the three-day event held in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, Science Foundation, International Union of Crystallography and Materials Chemistry Lab, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that Crystallography is a multidisciplinary science which has made huge impact on the society

as is evident from 30 Nobel Prizes awarded to this technique in several fields of science. It is encouraging that this field is flourishing in

Pakistan and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is playing a key role in this regard through the state-of-the-art Crystallography laboratory. He was of the view that research infrastructure be optimally used for the benefit of science and society. Conference focal person and Principal Investigator Dr. Maqsood Ahmed said that as many as 200 research papers received for this workshop which shows popularity of this sophisticated technique. He said that no other technique has been made instrumental as X-rays Crystallography for visualizing 3D structures of proteins and

their complexes at atomic level resolutions. This technique is being used in the fields of health industry, agriculture, environment related

issues such as drug discovery, vaccine development, enzyme

production, pest/insect control and degradation of pollutants. During this three-day workshop participants were provided with

structure determination by the use of X-ray Crystallography.

International Conference on Business and Entrepreneurship Research organized by the Department of Management Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, was held at Baghdad ul

Jadeed campus. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, was the Chief Guest in that conference, the Vice Chancellor said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is witnessing a new era of progress

and expansion as new academic programs compatible to current local and international market are being started. The existing programs are being revamped to meet societal needs through

innovation and development. The university is also playing leading role in socioeconomic development for building communities. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has recently opened E-Rozgar

of teaching and non-teaching staff will be removed. Just after taking over the charge of the university he issued order for reinstatement of all the stopped teaching that was a major demand of youth of that area. Construction will be started to fill the deficiency of academic

blocks and existing buildings will be expanded and renovated. Campus will be equipped with innovative technology facilitation and urgent provision of smart class rooms and video conferencing. Worthy Vice Chancellor, during his visit of Bahawalnagar Campus, participated

in Clean and Green Pakistan plantation campaign and planted a tree. At this occasion prayer was made for the development and prosperity of the campus. Campus Director Dr. Abou Bakar briefed to over the ongoing curricular, co-curricular, administrative and

Department of English organized third International Linguists and Literature seminar. The seminar was presided by Engr. It was great leadership and untiring struggle of the Muslims

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that today we are facing a great challenge of Covid-19 along with international community. Today, we need to unite against the challenge of this pandemic disease through unity, faith and discipline. There is no reason, we can overcome this hidden enemy and pass through this challenge as an iron nation. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has provided all the required facilities of hostels to Government of Punjab quarantine centers as in other universities across the province. He advised students to remain calm and vigilant and take care of their families, friends

and neighborhood. He also asked student to stay at home and avail

On International Women’s Day, an exclusive seminar was organized at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The participants praised the admissions of 12000 students in both morning and evening programs under the leadership of Vice chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, which

has created new learning and higher education opportunities for thousands of female students. Similarly, hundreds of female students belonging to Lodhran, Khanqah Shareef, Yazman and Laal Sohanra region have been availing

university bus service. These students’ parents were unable to bear their hostel expenses and, in addition, they were unwilling to send their daughters and/or sisters on local transport service. This special bus service for these under privileged town girls has been a real blessing. Prof. Dr. Mamoona

Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, Islamia University Bahawalpur, said that Punjab Information Board is playing a significant role in education and public services. The Vice Chancellor expressed this while talking to Chaudhry Adnan Zafar, In-charge of E-Service Center Bahawalpur. The e-service center is very effective in solving daily problems of people. Problems like identity card, domicile, birth certificate, NADRA facilities, driving license and vehicle

registration are solved instantly through this one window facility. The e-employment program is very important for providing decent employment by providing skills to the youth. The entrepreneurial E-rozgar program and skilled youth is important for providing them with respectful jobs. E-rozgar program is generating human resource in IT profession which is much needed. Equipped with IT technology and skilled youth are earning foreign exchange at home and abroad.

An E-rozgar center is also being set up at Islamia University Bahawalpur which will be operational soon. The opening ceremony of the E-rozgar center and the seminar were also discussed on the occasion.

Punjab Government has agreed to setup Centre for Renewable and Solar Energy Training and building of College of Conventional Medicine at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. These developments happened during recent visit of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor with officials of Energy and Higher Education Department at Lahore. Energy Department will establish Center for Renewable and

Solar Energy worth Rs. 395 Million at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. This state-of-the-art center will help to promote non-conventional means of energy in Southern Punjab facilitating industries and household purposes. Similarly, College of Conventional Medicine will promote research in Eastern Medicine and Homeopathy besides encouraging research on medicinal herbs of Cholistan desert to

start commercialization of these medicines to uplift socioeconomic

development of the region.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Hepatitis and Infection Control

Program Primary and Secondary Health Care Department, Govt. of

the Punjab agreed to establish a Hepatitis Clinic at the University Campus. This clinic aims at declaring the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as Hepatitis free university, establishment of Hepatitis Clinic and sentinel at the University. This clinic will also ensure screening of every single student, faculty, staff members and their families, Hepatitis B vaccination and treatment of Hepatitis positive individuals. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Dr. Khalid Mehmood, Program Manager of Hepatitis Control and Infection Program signed the agreement in a ceremony

at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Principal Quaid e Azam Medical College, Prof. Dr. Khawaja Fayyaz Ahmed, senior faculty members and officials of District Health Authority Bahawalpur were also present on this occasion. Provincial Minister for Management and Professional Development Hussain Jahanian Gardezi said that the agricultural research held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is commendable. What’s more, there is an example for the most important generation of university research and the most important types of universities that emerge in their trunks. The provincial minister expressed these views while addressing a seminar at Islamia University Bahawalpur on the topic of restoration of cotton crop and prosperity of the beloved homeland. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Institute of Cost Management Accountants of Pakistan have agreed to collaborate and co-operate promoting education in the relevant fields. Engr. Department of Commerce were also present on this occasion. It was decided that IUB students in Commerce, Accounting, Banking and Finance will be given direct entry for CMA qualification. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur will provide opportunities of Higher Education Commissions’ recognized degrees to members of ICMA. Both the institutions will jointly organize training workshops and seminars besides encouraging joint research programs.
