    My fellow redeemed,

Easter comes at the right time! We live in a society today that does everything it can to ignore death. People don't die anymore; they "pass away." If they're crude they say, "they kicked the bucket." Or they might just say that they have'''gone away."

In the "old d~ys," funerals took place at home. The family would drape the house in black and they would portray their loved one for those who would gather to say their good-byes and provide their condolences. Today all of that is moved to the funeral home because we want to avoid death - avoid dealing with it, seeing it and having to confront the fact of death.

We really can't! In spite of all of our best efforts, death is the ultimate ending for all of us, and we all understand that. Our family members and friends die, just as strangers do. It doesn't matter who you are, rich and famous or poor and common. It doesn't matter what your race or nationality is. It is going to happen to everyone, and that includes all of us. You can try and deny it as much as you want, but it is still going to take place, unless Jesus returns first.

Knowing that, what are you going to do about it? You can't outrun death, and no matter how healthy you are, you are still going to die. Thomas knew this! When he had the opportunity to hear that Jesus had risen from the dead he refused to believe, unless he could see Him and touch him. Doubt goes a long way when it is connected to something that we believe is impossible. When Jesus comes to Thomas and provides the proof that he was looking for, it was only then that he could exclaim, "My Lord and my God."

What about us? Do we know and believe without any doubts that there is a way to defeat death? Do we rely on Jesus and His promises to see us through the times of sorrow that accompany death? Through the pages of Scripture Jesus has provided each of us with the very same proof that He gave to Thomas. May that prooflift you up and draw you even closer to your Lord as you depend on Him for what He has promised to provide.

The Easter joy is not just a one-day happening. May the truth of Jesus' resurrection fill your life with joy each and every day as you long through faith to live with Jesus forever!

    In¥7~ Stephen P. Kamprath, Pastor

  • The greatest surprise about Easter is not that Jesus is alive, risen from the dead, out of the grave, that He conquered death and hell, and comes to meet you as He promised. The greatest surprise is that He did all that and is not angry. There is no fear for us in His return because He is not angry. He bears no grudge. He seeks no vengeance. He comes to give peace, with mercy and forgiveness and salvation.

Jesus lives and is not angry. Imagine that. He is not angry. He doesn't blame those who killed Him. He doesn't blame you. For no one takes His life from Him. He lays it down of His own accord. He gives Himself into death to win us back from sin, death, and hell. He does it willingly without coercion. He does it sacrificially, Him for us. He gave what was His to give. Thus His petition to Holy Week the Father from the cross, "Forgive them" is granted to you in His resurrection. He comes alive out of deatll to forgive and to give His life to you.

There is nothing to be afraid of because Jesus is raised from the dead and is not angry. Thus we are free-free from worrying about how to make it up to Him, and free to give as He has given to us. He gave Himself as a gift, His life in exchange for our death, willingly and sacrificially. And so it is that we are now free to give in like manner: willingly, sacrificially, with what we have been given.

We give to the church because it is in the church where our eyes have seen and our ears have heard that Jesus lives and is not angry. It is here where we learn of God's mercy and forgiveness in Christ. It is here where we continually receive that message of life, where He visits us to give peace, with mercy and forgiveness and salvation.

So do not be afraid. Jesus lives, and He is not angry. The sacrifice has been made. The debt is canceled and forgotten. Righteousness is declared. Jesus lives. He lives, and He is not angry. You are restored. You are reconciled to the Father in the Son. Your future is assured: Jesus lives. It is not just death and Hell, the devil and his demons, that are undone. Your sins, your fear are undone. They are gone, forgotten, destroyed. Jesus lives. Hallelujah! Jesus lives. And because He lives, you are just. You are right with God, pleasing and delightful to Him. You are forgiven, clean, pure, holy, and filled with His good works and with His Name. He is not angry. He is glad to have you. He wants you. He loves you. He gave everything that is His to and for you, willingly and sacrificially. In faith and trust in Him, let us do likewise.

Sharing our faith with others can be a challenge, which is often made more so by the stress we add to the process. Addressing this is where MISSION U comes in. Its expert-led, on-site workshops instruct attendees in how to speak more comfortably about Jesus, giving them a heightened sense of context, and reminding them how God is at work in the conversation. Participants get the training, takeaway resources and confidence to engage in Gospel and faith-sharing dialogues with less apprehension. MISSION U helps people make their faith-sharing exchanges less stressful reminds participants that the Holy Spirit is always at work. MISSION U TRAINING RECOGNIZES THERE IS NOT ONE WAY OR EVEN A RIGHT WAY TO SHARE YOUR FAITH.

This workshop will provide examples of how to interact with people while sharing their faith. You leave the course ready to take action.

Leisure Lutheran - FYI The next regular meeting ofthe Leisure Lutherans is Wednesday, April 20th, 12:00 noon

in the Fellowship Hall for a carry-in salad luncheon. Whip up your favorite salad, or dessert, and come join us for the fun and fellowship and let's celebrate spring and the return of warm weather together.

The date for our annual White Elephant Sale has been set for Saturday, June 11 lb, in the Fellowship Hall. As you're doing your spring cleaning and find things you don't want or can't use anymore, set them aside for this sale. We take anything, except clothing, and it's a good way to de-clutter a room or make way for something new you've gotten. Ifyou need help getting something to the church, let us know the week before the sale and we'll make arrangements to have it picked up. And don't forget to pencil the sale date in on your calendar and come and see if there's something you find that you can't live without.

And as always, every Thursday at 1 :00 p.m. is Game Day. Round up some friends and come for the games, the snacks and the fellowship. We would be delighted to see you.
