Lindemann EtaCut shearThe name EtaCut, which incorporates the Greek letter (eta), the technical symbol for efficiency. Here it stands for the extremely high effectiveness and low life­cycle costs of the scrap shears.

These are reflected in highest production capacity, low specific power consumption, enhanced operational reli­ability, and reduced maintenance costs.

This shear also features simplified installation and cheap­er and easier transportation. This includes not only the frame and the box, but also pipelines, control blocks, hy­draulic units, and supporting structure.

This results in reduced assembly times at the site as well as improved maintenance conditions.

EtaCut manifest the lowest downtimeThe PLC control system automatically performs pump and cylinder tests so that any defects are detected at an early stage and are indicated at the operating terminal. Consequently, maintenance can be timely planned with a minimum of downtime being necessary. The bolted­on wear plates, made of highly wear­resistant Lindur, contribute to the excellent availability of the machine by halving the downtime during replacement.

The speed is optimized Available only with Metso Recycling: The oil­transfer control system whereby the hydraulic oil from the return line of a cylinder is conveyed directly into another cylinder that operates in the low­pressure range in order to increase the speed of operation.

The shortest shredding cycleThis shear can be charged with scrap for the next cycle by feeding onto the closed side press and press lid. The feeding hopper, integrated in the press box, has a larger volumetric capacity than is required for the next cycle. The shear operator can pre­plan the next cut because, when the press box is opened, the scrap immediately drops onto the designated spot. Incorrect loading is avoided and capacity utilization of the shear is increased.

EtaCut comes with the best controlsystemWith the multi­data terminal on a touch screen display, Metso Recycling set new standards for the control system and maintenance. Graphic representation, process data visualization and online help – you choose the language you prefer. The operation data can also be displayed on remote computers.

Lindemann EtaCut is a symbol of high capacity and reliabilityThe best throughput capacity per invested EuroWhen it’s a matter of working efficiently and saving energy with maximizing the force of the shear and installed power, the Lindemann EtaCut can’t be beaten. Referred to the force of the shear per ton, it has the highest throughput capacity in the world and, at the same time, can execute the most cuts per minute.

The best in terms of scrap compactionThe side press and lid operate with over stroke to achieve low wear operation. The shear operator has ideal control when he is compacting the scrap. The optimized kinematics of the side press and press lid ensure that maximum forces are available when needed.

The best cutting technologyDepending on the type of scrap, the breaker bar at the blade slide can increase the cutting capacity by up to 30 percent compared to other designs, while using the same amount of energy. Hard and brittle scrap breaks when being bent and does not come in contact with the upper blade, resulting in increased service life. The supporting table ensures that shorter pieces of scrap are cut and do not slide out of the shear without being processed. The adjustable prismatic guide of the blade slide and the optimized shock relief damping ensure reliable operation with low wear.

The best and most simple maintenanceThe hydraulic blade tensioning device continuously monitors the upper and lower blades for correct positioning and automatically corrects the blade tension if necessary. This virtually dispenses with manual checking and tightening and results in up to 50% less downtime when replacing, as well as increased operational safety.

Universal and effective Scrap shears must be able to process the widest possible range of scrap types economically. Whether you want to cut mixed and heavy scrap, bale light scrap and car bodies, or break up castings and rails – the Lindemann EtaCut scrap shear offers you all those possibilities with effortless ease, thanks to the effective, coordinated in­teraction of all its components. Side press and lid oper­ate with extreme overstroke. They reliably compact the scrap into logs that are narrower and lower than the shear opening.

The cylinders

The new kinematics of the lid ensures that the force it applies is greatest where it really counts. For safety rea­sons, the lid cylinder is so arranged that it is protected from falling scrap. The perfected design of the side press, combined with increased mechanical synchronism, en­sures that the force of the cylinder comes to bear with maximum effect at every point in the press box, even when the scrap is positioned eccentrically. Slanted po­sitioning, and the resulting frictional losses, can’t occur. Furthermore, the form­locking attachment of the side press cylinder avoids any strain on the weld seam.

The volumetric capacity of the feeding hopper inte­grated in the press box is greater than the filling vol­ume required for the next operating cycle. Stop periods for loading are thus avoided, and the utilization of the shears is increased.

The supporting table, as a component part of the blade slide, ensures that even short pieces of scrap are cut. The breaker­bar increases cutting capacity by up to 30 percent, depending on scrap type, with the same input of energy. Hard and brittle scrap is broken even during initial bending and does not come into contact with the upper blade, so that the service life of the blades is prolonged. Finally, the integrated mobile scrap chute en­sures reliable discharge of scrap with less noise.

Integrated positioning system: protected and precise Oil transfer control: faster, but with no extra supply of power

Hydraulic operation: compact, and geared to maximum efficiency

Faster, more direct, more reliableOur drive and control system permits maximum throughput with low specific power consumption. With no increase in driving power, the cycle times of Linde­mann EtaCut shears have been further reduced by up to 15 percent, even though all effective compression forces have been increased. The factors contributing to this in­clude:

• our special oil transfer control, by which hydraulic oil from the reverse movement of one cylinder is fed di­rectly into another, operating in the low­pressure range, to increase speed.

• new positioning systems using integrated path sensors or lasers. These ensure precise determination of the po­sitions; speed and acceleration of the pistons over their entire travel distance, and thus permit precise steering towards the optimum hydraulic switch points. They also permit cutting length adjustment which is accurate to a millimeter.

• optimized dampening of the cutting shock, and logic blocks which make for faster yet smoother operating cycles without hydraulic shocks. To increase operating reliability and lengthen the service life of the hydraulic components and the hydraulic oil, 5 μm filters continu­ally purify the oil in the bypass oil flow.

Informative and helpful With our multi­information terminal it is easy to operate and trouble shoot. Graphics display, process data visu­alization, and on­line help in the language you desire embody the state of the art. The shear control offers a number of automatic programs for effectively process­ing the widest possible variety of scrap grades.

In fact, standard version Lindemann EtaCut can even de­termine independently the best program for the particu­lar type of scrap. The load on the shear is continuously displayed at the multi information terminal, so optimum productivity is assured.

The operational data of the shear, production data and status reports can also be displayed and processed on decentralized computers. We also offer remote diagnosis via phone to insure of rapid and economical help.
