PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Greetings Family, Thank you for another great week supporting our students. Teacher, business owner, dad, astronaut, billion-aire, doctor, pilot, caretaker, dancer, athlete, president, counselor….our students dream of be-coming so many awesome things as they grow up. Our jobs are to love and care for them in a manner that allows them to turn their hopes and dreams into a plan of action that they can believe. Hawthorne is passionate about our students’ growth and finding ways to empower students to believe that their hard work will lead them to reaching their hopes and dreams! This is no easy task. Some of our seniors in life talk about the power in “us” and “we.” When we lean on each other and build relationships, much like Hawthorne’s motto, “Together We Make a Differ-ence.” Let’s build our relationship and make the greatest difference. Have a wonderful weekend! Mr. Butler

SPOTLIGHT ON KINDERGARTEN: LEARNING ABOUT BUTTERFLIES
On Wednesday, all kindergarten and first grade students attended a presentation about butterflies!
Kirsten Carlson, dressed like a monarch butterfly, talked about the monarch butterfly life cycle and let a
butterfly walk on their arm. The watched the butterflies drink apple juice and enjoyed a ‘butterfly snack’
of their own!

Scholastic. Students may come down and shop during the school day and we welcome grandparents to
shop with them during lunch because it is Grandparents’ Week as well! We can get kids excited about
reading by choosing great books to fill up home libraries, and by reading aloud to them every day! And
remember, books make great gifts, so start your shopping at our Book Fair!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Another school, year is another opportunity to raise money for our school by col-lecting Box tops. These Box Tops can be found on many of your favorite products. Our playground was paid for in part by the thousands of Box Tops collected from our generous Hawthorne families! The classroom that brings in the most Box Tops will receive a special celebration in appreciation. We have a winner every quarter, so start saving those Box Tops and your student’s class could be our next winner!
PTA DRIVE FOR FIVE

dents with different activities. In order to do so, we
will have fundraisers once a month in our drive to
raise $5000. Each opportunity will be $1 or less and
proceed will go directly to student focused events.
Please keep an eye out for the fun opportunities com-
ing soon
