General Safety Instructions

WARNING!

Never make unauthorized attach-ment installations. Do not use attach-ments not approved by Shindaiwa for use on this unit.

Shindaiwa Inc. reserves the right to make changes to products without prior notice, and without obligation to make alterations to units previously manufactured.

Do not operate this unit with a blade unless the unit is equipped with a Shindaiwa-approved handlebar.

Always wear a harness when operating this unit with a blade. a harness is also recommended when using trimmer line.

Beware of blade thrust. A jammed blade can cause the brushcutter to jerk suddenly and may cause the operator to lose control of the unit.

Read and follow thisoperators manual.Failure to do so couldresult in serious injury.

Wear eye and hearingprotection at all timesduring the operation of this unit.

Keep bystandersat least 50 feet (15 m)away during operation.

Beware of thrown or ricocheted objects.

WARNING!

Minimize the Risk of FireNEVER smoke or light fires near the engine.

ALWAYS stop the engine and allow it to cool before refueling. Avoid overfilling and wipe off any fuel that may have spilled.

ALWAYS inspect the unit for fuel leaks before each use. During each refill, check that no fuel leaks from around the fuel cap and/or fuel tank. If fuel leaks are evident, stop using the unit immediately. Fuel leaks must be repaired before using the unit.

ALWAYS move the unit to a place well away from a fuel storage area or other readily flammable materials before starting the engine.

NEVER place flammable material close to the engine muffler.

General Safety Instructions

Always operate with both hands firmly

gripping the unit.

Wear close-fitting clothing to protect legs and arms. Gloves offer added protection and are strongly recommended. Do not wear clothing or jewelry that could get caught in machinery or underbrush. Secure hair so it is above shoulder level. NEVER wear shorts!

Wear hearing protection devices and a broad-brimmed

hat or helmet.

Always wear eye protection such as goggles or safety glasses.

Keep away from the rotating blade at all times, and never

lift a moving attachment above waist-high.

Wear appropriate footwear (non-skid boots or shoes): do not wear open-toed shoes or sandals. Never operate the unit while barefoot!

Keep a proper footing and do not overreach— maintain your balance at all times during operation.

Always make sure the appropriate

cutting attachment shield is correctly installed and in good condition.

The Properly Equipped OperatorWARNING!

Use Good JudgmentALWAYS wear eye protection to shield against thrown objects.

NEVER run the engine when trans-porting the unit.

NEVER run the engine indoors! Make sure there is always good ven-tilation. Fumes from engine exhaust can cause serious injury or death.

ALWAYS clear your work area of trash or hidden debris that could be thrown back at you or toward a bystander.

ALWAYS use the proper cutting tool for the job.

ALWAYS stop the engine immedi-ately if it suddenly begins to vibrate or shake. Inspect for broken, miss-ing or improperly installed parts or attachments.

ALWAYS keep the unit as clean as practical. Keep it free of loose veg-etation, mud, etc.

ALWAYS hold the unit firmly with both hands when cutting or trimming, and maintain control at all times.

ALWAYS keep the handles clean.

ALWAYS disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance work.

ALWAYS, if a blade should bind fast in a cut, shut off the engine imme-diately. Push the branch or tree to ease the bind and free the blade.

IMPORTANT!B530 brushcutters units do not have the spark arrester installed in the muf-fler. Before placing the brushcutter in service, check local, state and federal regulations to determine if a spark arrester is required in your area. See page 16 for installation details.

Be Aware of the Working Environment

Avoid long-term operation in very hot or very cold weather.

Make sure bystanders or observers outside the 50-foot “danger zone”

wear eye protection.

Be extremely careful of slip-pery terrain, especially during rainy weather.

Always make sure the appropriate cutting

attachment shield is correctly installed.

If contact is made with a hard object, stop the engine and inspect the cutting attachment for damage.

When operating in rocky terrain or near electric wires or fences, use extreme caution to avoid contacting such

items with the cutting attachment.

Be constantly alert for objects and debris that could be thrown either from the rotating cutting attachment or bounced from a hard surface.

Reduce the risk of bystanders being struck by flying debris. Make

sure no one is within 50 feet (15 meters)—that’s about 16 paces—of an operating attachment.

Prior to AssemblyBefore assembling this product, make sure you have all the components re-quired for a complete unit. Engine assembly (powerhead).

Outer tube assembly.

Cutting attachment shield.

Double shoulder harness.

Cutting attachment (trimmer head or brushcutter blade).

IMPORTANT!The terms “left,” “left-hand,” and “LH”; “right,” “right-hand,” and “RH”; “front” and “rear” refer to directions as viewed by the operator during normal operation of this product.

Tool kit, which includes 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm “L” type hexagonal wrench-es, 8mm/l0mm open-end wrench, combination spark plug/tool and holder wrench.

Components required for assembly (cable ties, throttle cable connector, and throttle cable sleeve).

Carefully inspect all components for damage.Included Accessories: Double shoulder harness, and tool kit.

Do not make unauthorized modifica-tions or alterations to any of these units or components.

Using Figure 4 as a guide, familiarize yourself with your machine and its vari-ous components. Understanding your machine helps ensure top performance, longer service life, and safer operation.

Install Mainshaft and Outer Tube.1. Place the powerhead on a flat surface,

resting on its stand.

2. Lubricate the mainshaft splines with molybdenum disulfide (moly) type grease.

3. Loosen the 6mm socket head cap screw on the powerhead union clamp. Verify that the D-shaped shim washer is positioned as shown in Figure 5.

4. Insert the shaft tube assembly into the powerhead connector clamp. Make sure the powerhead connec-tor clamp aligns with the outer tube “Insert up to here” decal. See Figure 6.

CAUTION! Do not force the outer tube into the powerhead! Forcing the outer tube into the powerhead may damage the splines on the mainshaft and/or clutch drum shaft. If installation proves difficult, rotate the powerhead or mainshaft until you feel the main-shaft splines slide into the clutch drum shaft.

CAUTION! Do not remove the D-shaped shim washer! The shim washer prevents damage from overtightening the tube clamp screw.

5. If necessary, rotate the outer tube assembly until the gearcase output shaft is pointing down, opposite to the spark plug.

6. Tighten the union clamp screw securely.

Install the Cutting Attachment Shield

Install the Cutting Attachment Shield.1. Insert the cutting attachment shield

between the outer tube and the cutting attachment mounting plate. See Figure 7.

WARNING!

NEVER operate the unit without the cutting attachment shield installed and tightly secured!

CAUTION!Make sure the clamp screw and retaining nut are securely tightened before tightening the four socket-head cap screws.

NOTE:It may be necessary to loosen the retaining nut and clamp screw to adjust cutting attachment shield mounting plate.

2. Fit the bracket over the outer tube and loosely install the four socket-head screws. See Figure 7.

Sub-Shield. (when trimmer head is in use)1. Attach the shield extension to the

cutting attachment shield.

WARNING!

NEVER use this machine without sub-shield when using a trimmer head.

CAUTION!Make sure the sub-guard is com-pletely hooked at the hook receiver.

WARNING!

The line cutter is very sharp. Wear gloves to protect your hands when handling.

To Change Position of Line Cutter.

1. Remove the 2 hex screws with a 4mm hex wrench. See Figure 7A.

2. Rotate line cutter. See Figure 7A.

3. Reinstall the two hex screws and tighten them securely.

NOTE:Be careful to not lose the 2 nuts in the cutting attachment shield, they are not captured.

The line cutter can be positioned in 2 positions to obtain different line length for cutting.

1. Slide throttle cable and terminal wires through the cable clamp and grip. See Figure 8.

2. Install the throttle cable sleeve on the powerhead throttle cable. See Figure 8.

3. Connect the powerhead and the throttle cable ends. See Figure 9.

IMPORTANT!Make sure the metal end of the powerhead throttle cable jacket fits in the grooved end of the cable connector.

IMPORTANT!For steps 6 through 9, refer to figure 11.

4. Center the throttle cable sleeve over the connected cable ends and place the assembly in the throttle cable con-nector. See Figure 10.

5. Using hand pressure, close the throttle cable connector. See Figure 10.

6. Secure each end of the throttle con-nector with a cable tie. See Figure 11.

7. Connect the powerhead and stop switch wire terminals.

8. Connect the stop switch ground wire and the powerhead ground wire terminals.

9. Slide throttle cable and connected ter-minal wires into grip by gently pulling on throttle cable housing. See Figure 11.

1. Test throttle control for smooth opera-tion. If stiffness or binding are noted, the cause must be identified and cor-rected before the brushcutter can be placed in service.

2. Check the throttle control lever “free play” clearance. “Free play” should be approximately 0.276 inches (7 mm) in the idle position. See Figure 13. If necessary, the “free play” clearance can be adjusted as follows: (refer to Figure 14).

a. Slide the adjuster cover forward to expose the cable adjuster.

b. Loosen the cable lock nut.

c. Thread or unthread the cable adjuster until the throttle control lever has approximately 0.276 inches (7 mm) of “free play” clearance.

d. Tighten the cable lock nut.

e. Slide the adjuster cover over the cable adjuster.

1. Remove the 4mm retaining screws and lower cap from the handlebar bracket. See Figure 12.

2. Mount the handlebar on the outer tube and align it with the “Attach Handle On This Line” decal.

3. Reinstall the lower cap and retaining bolts. Tighten the retaining screws evenly.

NOTE:The B530 is shipped with Holder A, the safety clips, Holder B, shaft bolt, and bolt guard installed. The shaft bolt is a LEFT-HAND THREAD AND IS REMOVED IN A CLOCKWISE ROTATION!

1. With the gearcase output shaft facing up, rotate the gearshaft and holder A until the hole in holder A aligns with the matching hole in the gearcase flange, and then lock the holder to the gearcase by inserting the ong end of the hex wrench through both long holes. See Figure 15.

2. Remove the shaft bolt, bolt guard and holder B. See Figure 15.

3. Slide the safety clip off center on the gearcase shaft. See Figure 16.

4. Slide the blade over the safety clip and onto the flange on holder A. See Figure 17.

CAUTION!Install the blade so its printed sur-face is visible to the operator when the brushcutter is in the normal operating position.

NOTE:When installing certain blades, it may be necessary to temporarily remove the safety clip.

5. Lock the blade on the shaft by centering the safety clip. See Figure 18.

6. Install holder B on the gearcase shaft. See Figure 19.

IMPORTANT!The machined recess in Holder B must completely surround the safety clip, and both holders must be flat against the surface of the blade.

7. Lock holder A to the gearcase by inserting the long end of the hex wrench through both holes as done in step 1 and tighten the shaft bolt securely with the combination spark plug/screwdriver wrench. See Figure 20.

8. Remove the hex wrench.

NOTE: The B530 is shipped with Holder A, the blade retainer (safety clip), Holder B, shaft bolt, and bolt guard installed. The shaft bolt is a LEFT-HAND thread. Remove it by turning CLOCKWISE!

1. With the gearcase output shaft facing up, rotate the gearshaft and holder A until the hole in holder A aligns with the matching hole in the gearcase flange, and then lock the holder to the gearcase by inserting the long end of the hex wrench through both holes. See Figure 21.

2. Using the combination spark plug/screwdriver wrench, remove the shaft bolt, bolt guard, holder B and the safety clip. (The bolt guard, shaft bolt and safety clip are not used with a trimmer head). See Figure 21.

3. Install Holder B on the gearcase shaft. The splined hole on Holder B must engage with the gearcase shaft.

4. Using the hex wrench to secure Holder A , install and hand-tighten the trimmer head (counter-clockwise to install). See Figure 22.

5. Remove the hex wrench from the gearcase and holder.

6. If the line cutter was removed during unit assembly, install the line cutter on the cutting attachment shield. See Page 7.

IMPORTANT!Mix only enough fuel for your immedi-ate needs! If fuel must be stored longer than 30 days and oil with fuel stabilizer is not used, it should first be treated with a fuel stabilizer such as STA-BIL™.

Control Positions (cold engine)

1. Under normal conditions this ma-chine can be started without setting the throttle control to“fast idle” posi-tion. However, if machine is difficult to start then set the engine control to “fast idle” as follows: (refer to Figure 23):

a. Depress and hold throttle control lockout lever A and throttle control lever B.

b. Depress throttle control lock button C and while holding throttle control lever lock button C in, release throttle control lever B and lockout lever A.

c. Release throttle control lever lock button C.

2. Slide the ignition switch down to the “I” (ON) position. See Figure 24.

Control Positions (warm engine)

1. Set the throttle control as described in Step 1 from above.

2. Slide the ignition switch to the “I” (ON) position. See Figure 24.

3. Move choke lever down to the “open choke” position. See Figure 27.

IMPORTANT!A two-position ignition switch mounted on the throttle control body controls the engine ignition system. This switch but-ton is labeled “STOP” and has a white arrow pointing towards the STOP posi-tion. The letter “I” (ON) and “O” (OFF) are embossed on the left side of the throttle handle, near the switch button.

3. Purge the air from the carburetor fuel system by repeatedly depressing the carburetor primer bulb until resis-tance is felt and fuel flows back to the tank through the return tube. See Figure 25.

4. Move the choke lever to the “close choke” position. See Figure 26.

Mixing Fuel

1. Place the brushcutter on a flat, level surface.

2. Clear any dirt or other debris from around the fuel filler cap.

3. Remove the fuel cap, and fill the tank with clean, fresh fuel.

4. Reinstall the fuel filler cap and tighten firmly.

Filling the Fuel TankWARNING!

Minimize the risk of fire! STOP engine before refueling. ALWAYS allow the engine to cool

before refueling! Wipe all spilled fuel and move the

engine at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the fueling point and source before restarting!

NEVER start or operate this unit if there is a fuel leak.

NEVER start or operate this unit if the carburetor, fuel lines, fuel tank and/or fuel tank cap are damaged.

NEVER smoke or light any fires near the engine or fuel source!

NEVER place any flammable material near the engine muffler!

NEVER operate the engine with-out the muffler in good working condition.

CAUTION!This engine is designed to oper-ate on a 50:1 mixture consisting of unleaded gasoline and a premium 2-cycle mixing oil only. Use of non-approved mixing oils can lead to excessive maintenance costs and/ or engine damage.

CAUTION! Some types of gasoline contain

alcohol as an oxygenate. Oxygen-ated gasoline may cause in-creased operating temperatures. Under certain conditions, alcohol-based gasoline may also reduce the lubricating qualities of some 2-cycle mixing oils.

Never use any type of gasoline containing more than 10% alcohol by volume! Generic oils and some outboard oils may not be intended for use in high-performance 2-cycle type engines, and should never be used in your Shindaiwa engine.

Use only fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher.

Mix gasoline with 50:1 Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil or with an equivalent high quality 2-cycle mixing oil.

Examples of 50:1 mixing quantities 1 gallon of gasoline to 2.6 oz.

Oil is a registered JASO FC classified oil and also meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD performance requirements. Shindaiwa One is recommended for use in all Shindaiwa low emissions en-gines. Shindaiwa One also includes a fuel stabilizer.

Always engage the starter before attempting to start the engine.

Never pull the cord to its maximum limit.

Always allow the cord to rewind slowly into the starter.

WARNING!

Before starting the engine, make sure children, bystanders, and pets and/or any other objects are well clear of the cutting attachment! The cutting attachment will rotate when the engine is started with the throttle control set in the “fast idle” position.

Starting the Engine

CAUTION!Never operate the brushcutter without a cutting attachment installed!

1. Place the unit firmly on the ground.

2. Hold the outer tube firmly with your left hand and grasp the starter handle with your right hand.

3. Pull the starter cord out slowly until you feel the starter engage. See Figure 28.

4. Pull the starter handle outward rap-idly to start the engine.

Make sure the cutting attachment is clear of obstructions!

IMPORTANT!The recoil starter can provide long-last-ing trouble free operation by following these recommendations:

WARNING!

The cutting attachment will rotate when the machine is started and will rotate faster as engine speed is increased.

When the engine starts or attempts to start—1. Move the choke lever down to the

“open choke” position. See Figure 29.

2. If the engine stalls, repeat the appli-cable starting procedure for a warm or cold engine.

3. When the engine starts, clear excess fuel from the combustion chamber by revving the engine a few times. Operation of the throttle control lever will automatically disengage the “fast-idle” lock and return the engine to idle.

If the engine does not start— Repeat the applicable starting proce-dures for a warm or cold engine. If the engine fails to start, refer to the “Starting a Flooded Engine" section on the next page.

Starting a Flooded Engine 1. Slide the ignition switch button to the

STOP position.

2. Disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove the spark plug. See Figure 29.

3. If the spark plug electrodes and ce-ramic insulator are fouled or soaked with fuel, clean or replace the plug. For spark plug specifications and gapping procedure, refer to page 17.

4. Open the choke.

5. Hold the throttle control lever de-pressed and Rev the engine several times to clear excess fuel from the combustion chamber.

Idle Speed Adjustment

The engine should return to normal idle speed whenever the throttle control lever is released. Idle speed is adjusted to permit the clutch mechanism to disengage power to the cutting attach-ment whenever the engine is idling at the specified setting. To adjust the idle speed:

1. Start the engine, and allow it to idle 2-3 minutes to warm up.

2. If the cutting attachment rotates while the engine is idling, turn the idle adjustment screw counterclockwise until the cutting attachment stops rotating. See Figure 31.

3. If a tachometer is available, adjust engine idle speed to 2500 RPM ±250 RPM. If a tachometer is not available, adjust engine idle speed until the cut-ting attachment stops rotating.

Fuel Mixture Adjustments

CAUTION!Do not over-tighten carburetor screws. Over-tightening the carbure-tor adjustment screws may damage the screw seat and/or carburetor’s internal seat surface.

CAUTION!The engine may be damaged if car-buretor is adjusted incorrectly. A lean (air-rich) mixture setting can result in an engine seizure!

L = Low Speed Mixture from closed: 0-1/2 turns

H = High Speed Mixture from closed: 2 ±1/4 turns

The high-speed mixture screw must be adjusted so maximum engine speed does not exceed 11,000 RPM without a load. See Figure 31.

The blade rotates counter-clockwise. For best performance and to minimize being struck by debris, move the blade from right to left while advancing on your work.Position the blade so cuts are made between the blade’s 8 o’clock and 10 o’clock positions (as viewed from above). DO NOT cut between the 10 o’clock and 5 o’clock positions (shaded area). See Figure 33.

When making vertical cuts, never al-low the blade to exceed waist height.

DO NOT use 2-tooth or NON-Shindaiwa approved 4-tooth cutting blades with Shindaiwa brushcutters.

Vertical cutsHold the brushcutter with the blade at a 90° angle to the ground so the blade’s bottom edge rotates toward the opera-tor. Move the blade from top to bottom through the cut, and cut only with the bottom edge of the blade. See Figure 34.

When cutting wood with a blade, feed the blade slowly. Never strike or “slam” a spinning blade against the wood.

Before working with a blade-equipped unit, always inspect and clean the area of objects that could interfere with or damage the blade.

Never use a blade near side-walks, fence posts, buildings or other objects that could cause injury or damage.

Never use a blade for purposes other than those for which it was designed.

Whenever you strike a hard object with a blade, always stop the brushcutter and carefully inspect the blade for damage. NEVER OPERATE THE BRUSHCUTTER WITH A DAMAGED BLADE!

A blade-equipped unit must be equipped with a bicycle-type handlebar as well as a harness or strap.

Always make sure the cutting attachment shield is properly installed before operating the unit.

Blade Thrust‘Blade thrust’ is a sudden sideways or backward motion of the brushcutter. Such motion may occur when the blade jams or catches on an object such as a sapling tree or tree stump. BE CONSTANTLY ALERT FOR BLADE THRUST AND GUARD AGAINST ITS EFFECTS!

Brushcutter HandlebarA brushcutter’s handlebar helps prevent the operator from moving forward, or the unit moving rearward, thus prevent-ing inadvertent bodily contact with the blade. ALWAYS KEEP THE HANDLE-BAR SECURELY IN PLACE ON THE UNIT!

Brushcutter HarnessA harness provides additional protec-tion against blade thrust. In addition, a harness gives significant support and comfort to help ensure safe and efficient operation.When operating a brushcutter, make sure both the handle and harness are adjusted to the size of the operator using the unit.

Engine Operating SpeedsOperate the engine at full throttle while cutting. Best fuel efficiency is obtained by releasing the throttle when swinging back after a cut.

To prevent possible engine damage, do not allow the brushcutter to run at high speeds without a load.

Avoid operating the attachment at low speeds. Doing so can lead to rapid clutch wear. In addition, slow-speed operation tends to cause grass and de-bris to wrap around the cutting head.

Your Shindaiwa B530 brushcutter can be equipped with one of several Shindaiwa trimmer head models, each with designed features for specific applications and/or to meet operational requirements.For the correct application and opera-tion, always refer to the instructions included with the trimmer head. Avail-able trimmer head models include:

Semi-automatic: Trimmer line is fed when the head is rotating and opera-tor taps the trimmer head line release button on the ground.

Manual: The operator pulls the line out manually while the head is com-pletely stopped.

Fixed: The operator must stop the machine and add new pre-cut lengths of trimmer line manually.

Trimming/Mowing Grass Using A Trimmer HeadCAUTION!Do not push the rotating trimmer line into trees, wire fences or any material that could entangle or break line.

3. Remove the tail pipe from the muffler.

4. Push the spark arrester and gasket into the exhaust opening and re-install tail pipe and retention screws. See Figure 37.

IMPORTANT!B530 brushcutters units do not have the spark arrester installed in the muf-fler. Before placing the brushcutter in service, check local, state and federal regulations to determine if a spark ar-rester is required in your area.

If the unit has had the spark arrester installed, carbon deposits lodged in the spark arrester screen may cause hard starting or a gradual loss of performance.In such cases, removing the spark arrester screen and cleaning it with a stiff, bristle brush usually restores performance.If carbon deposits are heavy or no performance improvement is noted, the unit should be serviced by an authorized Shindaiwa service center.

Muffler

WARNING!

Never operate this machine with a damaged or missing muffler! Operat-ing with missing or damaged exhaust components is a fire hazard, and may also damage your hearing.

Daily Maintenance Remove dirt or debris from the

engine and muffler, check the cooling fins and air cleaner for clogging, and clean them as necessary. Check and clean the cooling system (air intake grills, flywheel fins, cylinder fins, and air filter). Dirt build-up in these areas could cause engine overheating, in-duce premature wear, or create a fire hazard.

Check for loose or missing bolts or components. Make sure the cutting attachment is securely fastened.

Check the unit for leaking fuel or grease.

Periodic Maintenance

WARNING!

Before performing any service and maintenance or repair work on the machine, make sure that the switch button is in the STOP position and the engine and the cutting attach-ment are completely stopped. Always disconnect the spark plug lead.

Blades

WARNING!

Never repair a damaged blade by welding, straightening, or by modifying its shape. An altered blade may break during operation, resulting in serious personal injury.

DO NOT use 2-tooth (lawnmower type) cutting blades. Use only blades approved by Shindaiwa for use with your brushcutter, such as approved 3-tooth and 4-tooth cut-ting blades, Shindaiwa Tornado™ blades, and 30-tooth brushcutter blades.

Shindaiwa edger blades and brushcutter blades are not in-terchangeable. Operating any ma-chine with a blade or attachment not authorized for use on the unit can result in serious injury to the operator and/or bystanders.

Keep blades sharp and check blade condition frequently. If cutting performance changes sud-denly, stop the engine and check the blade for cracks or other dam-age. Replace the damaged blade immediately!

Every 10-hours of operation(more frequently in dusty or dirty conditions):

1. Inspect the filter. If the element is damaged or distorted, replace it with a new one.

2. Tap filter gently on a hard surface to dislodge debris from element or use compressed air from the inside to blow debris from the air filter element.

Remove the cutting attachment and the gear shaft collar, and force new grease into the gearcase until the old grease has been pushed out. Use only lithium-base grease (such as Shindaiwa Gearcase Lubricant, P/N 13-57). See Figure 41.

Long Term Storage(more than 30 days)

IMPORTANT!All units to be stored, for 30 days or longer, with fuel remaining in the fuel tank, hose, and carburetor and fuel sys-tem should be conditioned with a fuel stabilizer such as STA-BIL™.

Whenever the machine is going to be stored for 30 days and longer, pre-pare the unit for storage as follows: Drain all fuel from fuel tank and allow

unit to run until all the fuel in the carburetor is spent.

Remove the spark plug and pour about 1/4 ounce of oil into the cyl-inder through the spark plug hole. Slowly pull the recoil starter two or three times so oil will coat the cylin-der wall and piston rings.

Reinstall the spark plug.

Repair damaged or faulty components as necessary.

Service air filter as outlined in page 17.

Clean all external parts thoroughly.

Cover the engine and store the brushcutter in a clean, dry place.

Blade Sharpening

When the blade’s cutting edges become slightly dull, they can be resharpened with a few strokes of a file. In order to keep the blade in balance; all cutting surfaces must be sharpened uniformly.

Shindaiwa Tornado™ BladeTo sharpen the teeth on a Shindaiwa Tornado Blade, use a 7/32-inch round file. File the leading edge of each tooth to a razor edge. The top plate of each tooth should angle back 30°. See Figure 42.

OWNER’S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES As the engine owner, you are responsible for the perfor-mance of the required maintenance listed in your owner’s manual. Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on your engine, but Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. cannot deny a warranty claim solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the performance of all scheduled maintenance. As the engine owner, you should however be aware that Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. may deny your warranty cover-age if your engine or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or unapproved modifications. You are responsible for presenting your engine to the nearest dealer authorized by Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. when a problem exists. If your Shindaiwa Dealer is unable to answer questions re-garding your warranty rights and responsibilities, you should then contact your Shindaiwa Distributor. (b) the replacement parts used for required maintenance services,

(c) consequential parts used for required maintenance ser-vices,

(d) diagnosis and inspection fees that do not result in eligible warranty service being performed, and

(e) any non-authorized replacement part, or malfunction of authorized parts due to use of non-authorized parts.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR REQUIREMENTS You are responsible for the proper use and maintenance of the engine. You should keep all receipts and maintenance records covering the performance of regular maintenance in the event questions arise. These receipts and maintenance re-cords should be transferred to each subsequent owner of the engine. Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. reserves the right to deny warranty coverage if the owner has not properly maintained the engine. Shindaiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd. will not deny warranty repairs, however, solely because of the lack of repair, mainte-nance or failure to keep maintenance records. Garantía Limitada de Diseño y Defectos de Motores para el Mantenimiento de Jardines

RESPONSABILIDADES DEL PROPIETARIO CON RELACION A LA GARANTIA En su calidad de propietario del motor, usted será respon-sable de llevar a cabo el mantenimiento requerido que se menciona en el manual del propietario. Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd., recomienda conservar todos los recibos relativos al mantenimiento de su motor, Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd., no podrá negarse a otorgar cobertura de garantía por el sólo hecho de que no existieran dichos recibos o por el hecho de que usted no lleve a cabo las operaciones de mantenimiento contempladas. En su calidad de propietario del motor, deberá usted saber , sin embargo, que Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd., podrá negar la cobertura de garantía si su motor o alguna de sus piezas hubiera fallado debido a un mal uso de los mismos, a negli-gencia, a un mantenimiento inadecuado o a modificaciones no autorizadas. PARTES CUBIERTAS La Garantía Limitada de Diseño y Defectos no cubrirá lo que se describe a continuación:

(a)condiciones que resulten de una intervención no autoriza-da, un mal uso, un ajuste inapropiado (a menos de que los hubieran efectuado un distribuidor o un centro de servicio autorizado de Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co., Ltd., en el curso de una reparación de garantía), una alteración, accidente, omisión en el uso del combustible y aceite recomendados o de una omisión en el cumplimiento de los servicios de mantenimiento requeridos;

(b)los repuestos utilizados en los servicios de mantenimiento requeridos;

(c)piezas consecuenciales utilizadas para efectuar los servicios de mantenimiento requeridos;

(d)pagos de diagnóstico e inspección que no resulten en servicios cubiertos por la garantía; y

(e)cualquier repuesto no autorizado o la falla de piezas autorizadas que puediera deberse al uso de piezas no autorizadas.

REQUISITOS DE MANTENIMIENTO Y REPARACION Usted será responsable del uso y mantenimiento ad-ecuados del motor. Deberá usted conservar todo recibo y regristro de mantenimiento relativos a operaciones de mantenimiento regulares, para en caso de que surgieran problemas. Estos recibos y registros de mantenimiento deberán transferirse a cada propietario subsiguiente del motor. Shin-Daiwa Kogyo Co. Ltd., se reserva el derecho de negar la cobertura de esta garantía en caso de que el propi-etario no hubiera dado un mantenimiento apropiado al motor. Almacenamiento

PRECAUCION!Nunca almacene esta máquina por más de 30 días con combustible en el tanque, en las mangueras de combustible o en el carburador! De lo contrario, puede causar depósitos de barniz en el sistema de combus-tible. La poliza de garantía de esta máquina no cubre daños causados por pegamento de combustible o depósitos de barníz.

Almacenamiento de Corto Plazo(menos de 30 días)

Limpie el filtro de aire.

Limpie las aletas del cilindro, aletas del volante y la superficie del silen-ciador.

Limpie las rejillas de toma de aire para el enfríamiento.

Limpie de la caja de engranajes y la superficie del tubo exterior.

Lubrique la caja de engranajes como se índica en la figura 41 de este manual.

Vacie el tanque de combustible.

Cubra el motor y almacene la má-quina en un sitio limpio y seco.

(más frecuentemente bajo condiciones sucias o polvorientas) Retire y limpie la tapa del cilindro y

Almacenamiento de Largo Plazo(más de 30 días)

IMPORTANTE!Toda máquina destinada a alma-cenarse por 30 días o más con com-bustible en el tanque, manguera, car-burador o sistema de combustible debe acondicionarse con un estabilizador de combustible tal como STA-BIL™.

Cada vez que la máquina va a ser alma-cenada por 30 días o más, prepare la máquina para almacenar de la siguiente manera:

Vacie el tanque de combustible y permita que el motor esté encendido hasta que agote todo el combustible en el carburador.

Retire la bujía y vierta aproximada-mente dos gotas de aceite en el cilin-dro a través del agujero de la bujía. Haga que el motor de vueltas 2 ó 3 veces para que el aceite se distribuya uniformemente en la pared del cilin-dro y en los anillos de los pistones.

Reínstale la bujía.

De haber alguna pieza dañada en el motor, repárela conforme sea necesario.

Limpie el filtro de aire de acuerdo a las instrucciones indicadas en la página 17.

Limpie todas las partes externas y aplique una capa ligera de aceite a todas las superficies metálicas.

Cubra el motor y almacene la desmaleza-dora en un sitio seco y limpio.

Afilado de Cuchillas/DiscosCuchilla/Disco Shindaiwa Tornado ™Para afilar los dientes de corte de una cuchilla/disco shindaiwa Tornado™, use una lima redonda de 7/32 pulgadas. Afile el borde delantero de cada diente hasta obtener un filo similar al de una hoja de afeitar. La superficie superior de cada diente debe tener una inclinación de 30 grados. Consulte la figura 42.

Cuchillas/Discos de Dientes MúltiplesUse una lima redonda para mantener un radio de 0.04 a 0.06 pulgadas (1 a 1.5mm) en la base de cada diente. Los dientes deben quedar igualmente descentrados por cada lado. Consulte la figura 43.

Cuando los dientes para cortar de la cuchilla/disco pierdan su filo, puede afilarlos rápidamente con una lima. Para mantener la cuchilla/disco balanceada, todas las superficies de corte deben ser afiladas uniformemente.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Afile solamente los dientes de cortar. NO altere de ninguna forma el contorno de la cuchilla/disco.

Mantenimiento Periódico

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Nunca repare un disco/cuchilla dañado soldándolo, enderezándolo o modificando su forma. Una vez alterado, podría quebrarse en plena operación y ocasionar lesiones per-sonales serias.

No use discos/cuchillas (para podadoras) de 2 dientes. Use solamente discos/cuchillas aprobadas por Shindaiwa para el uso de su desmalezadora, tal como los discos/cuchillos de 3 y 4 dientes aprobados, discos/cuchil-las Shindaiwa Tornado, y dis-cos/cuchillas de 30 dientes para desmalezadoras.

Los discos/cuchillas para corte de bordes y los discos/cuchillas para desmalezadoras no son intercam-biables. El uso de cualquiera de estas máquinas con discos/cuchil-las o accesorios no aprobados para la respectiva unidad puede ser peligroso y ocasionar lesiones graves al operario y/o transeúntes.

Mantenga afilados los dis-cos/cuchillas e inspeccionelos frecuentemente. De notar algún cambio repentino en el ren-dimiento de la cuchilla, detenga el motor e inspecciónelo en busca de quebraduras o daños. Todo disco/cuchilla averiado debe cam-biarse inmediatamente.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Nunca opere la máquina sin silencia-dor o guardachispas, o con alguno de estos componentes dañados. El uso de la máquina con componentes dañados o faltantes, representa un peligro de incedios y puede también dañar su oido.

Silenciador

Un arranque difícil o la pérdida gradual de potencia se puede deber a la acumu-lación de carbón en el silenciador o en la malla del guardachispas.En estos casos, generalmente la potencia se puede restablecer retirando la malla del guardachispas y limpiándola con cepillo de cerdas de alambre. Si la acumulación de carbón es severa o no se observa mejoramiento en el rendimiento del motor, será necesario llevar la desmalezadora a un centro de servicios autorizado por Shindaiwa para revisarla.

Mantenimiento Diario Elimine toda suciedad o residuo de

césped del motor y del silenciador, re-vise las aletas de enfríamiento y el fil-tro de aire en busca de obstrucciones y límpielos de ser necesario. Revise y limpie el sistema de enfríamiento (área de admisión de aire, cavidad del volante, aletas del volante, aletas del cilindro y filtro de aire). La acumu-lación de suciedad en dichas áreas puede ocasionar el sobrecalentamien-to del motor, desgaste prematuro a ciertos componentes o un incendio.

Revise que no falten tornillos y que no haya componentes flojos. Cerciórese de que el accesorio de corte esté firmemente asegurado.

Revise la máquina en busca de fugas de combustible o grasa.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Antes de efectuar un servicio de mantenimiento o reparación en la máquina, cerciórese de que el inter-ruptor esté en posición de apagado (STOP) y el accesorio de corte completamente detenido. Siempre desconecte el cable de la bujía.

Discos/Cuchillas

Mantenimiento Cada 10 Horas

IMPORTANTE!La B530 usa un elemento seco de filtro de aire especial de alta capacidad. El filtro no debe de ser limpiado con un producto líquido y NUNCA debe ser aceitado!

PRECAUCION!No opere esta máquina si el filtro de aire o el elemento está sucio, daña-do o si está húmedo o impregnado con agua. El uso del motor con un filtro de aire bajo dichas condiciones puede causar el desgaste prematuro de los componentes internos.

Cada 10 horas de operación(más frecuentemente bajo condiciones sucias o polvorientas):

1. Inspeccione el filtro. Si el elemento está dañado o distorcionado, reemp-lácelo por uno nuevo.

2. Sobre una superficie dura déle una palmadita suavemente al filtro para desalojar despojos del elemento o use aire comprimido desde adentro para soplar polvo y/o suciedad del elemen-to del filtro de aire.

Corte/Poda de Casped con Cabezal de Nylon

Su desmalezadora Shindaiwa B530 pu-ede ser equipada con varios modelos de cabezales, cada uno con características especiales según las aplicaciones y/o requisitos operacionales específicos. Para la aplicación y operación adecuada, consulte siempre las instrucciones incluí-das en el cabezal. Entre los modelos de cabezales disponibles se incluyen: Automático: Cabezal que automáti-

camente alimenta nylon durante la operación.

Semiautomático: La línea poda-dora se gradúa cuando el operario da pequeños golpes al cabezal podador sobre el suelo durante la operación.

Manual: El operario gradúa manual-mente el nylon con la desmalezadora completamente detenida.

Fijo: El operario debe apagar el motor y añadir manualmente nylon precortado.

PRECAUCION!Operación a velocidades bajas puede causar fallas prematuras del embrague.

Para obtener un mayor rendimiento y extender la vida útil del nylon, siga los procedimientos indicados cuando use un cabezal de nylon (consulte la figura 35).

Corte de derecha a izquierda, con el cabezal ligeramente en ángulo con respecto al área de trabajo.

Corte siempre con el motor a máxima potencia; luego reduzca un poco la velocidad antes de iniciar el próximo corte.

Corte únicamente con la punta del nylon.

Corte De BordesIncline el mango aproximadamente 100 grados hacia la derecha (desde la posición horizontal) y camine hacia adelante, con la desmalezadora B530 en posición vertical. Consulte la figura 36.

IMPORTANTE!Las desmalezadoras B530 ni tienen las guardachispas ya instaladas en los silenciadores. Antes de usar la má-quina, averique con las normas locales y federales para deteminar si guardich-ispas son requeridas.

Velocidades de Operació del MotorLa máquina debe operar a máxima potencia al momento de cortar. Para obtener mejores resultados, suelte el acelerador cuando vuelve de regreso después de completar un corte. Para evitar posibles daños al motor,

no permita que la cortadora funcione a altas velocidades sin carga.

Evite el funcionamiento del motor a velocidades más bajas de el rango normal de operación. De lo contrario, podría desgastar rápidamente los componentes del embrague. Adicio-nalmente, la operación a baja veloci-dad tiende a hacer que el cabezal de corte se enrede con despojos.

Uso de la Unidad con un Disco para Cortar MalezasLas desmalezadoras provistas de discos para cortar maleza son herramientas profesionales que exigen cuidado y disciplina. Podrá hacer un uso seguro y eficiente de la desmalezadora con sólo observar las siguientes pautas de operación.

Manubrio ergonómicoEl manubrio de la desmalezadora es un manubrio tipo ergonómico que con-tribuye a evitar que el operario se mueva hacia adelante o que la unidad se mueva hacia atrás, impidiendo así el contacto del cuerpo con el accesorio de corte. El manubrio ergonómico debe ser instalado de acuerdo a las instrucciones provistas en este manual. Siempre mantenga el manubrio asegurado firmemente al tubo exterior.

ArnésEl arnés ofrece protección adicional con-tra los rebotes del disco. Adicionalmente, brinda un gran soporte y comodidad para una operación segura y eficiente. Antes de operar la desmalezadora, asegúrese de que el arnés esté ajustado al operario cor-rectamente. El arnés está equipado con un mecanismo para soltarse rapidamente del operario en caso de emergencia

¡ADVERTENCIA! Su desmalezadora está equipada

con un mango tipo manubrio de bicicleta, un arnés y un protector para el accesorio de corte. Todos estos accesorios deben estar de-bidamente instalados y ajustados de acuerdo a las instrucciones de este manual antes de usar esta máquina con un disco de corte, o un cabazal de línea con accesorio de corte.

Un modelo equipado con un disco puede lanzar o enredarse con objetos sueltos. Antes de comen-zar, inspeccione cuidadosamente el área de trabajo. Retire todos los objetos sueltos, tal como, rocas, vídrios rotos, clavos, cables,pitas los cuales pueden ser lanzados o enredados en el accesorio de corte. Fíjese en la ubicación de rocas grandes, tocones, y otros objetos fijos para evitar golpearlos.

Asegúrese de que niños, perso-nas y animales se mantengan a por lo menos 15 metros (50 pies) de distancia. De entrar niños, personas o animales a esta zona de seguridad, detenga inmedi-atamente su trabajo.no estén mal instalados o dañados.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Al cortar árboles pequeños con un disco hágalo lentamente. Nunca golpeé el disco cuando está girando contra el tronco del árbol.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

NO use cuchillas de 2 dientes en desmalezadoras Shindaiwa. Use solamente discos de 3 ó 4 dientes aprobados por Shindaiwa.

Durante el uso de la máquina no pierda de vista el disco para así evitar rebotes. Observe su corte en todo momento. Solamemte corte árboles y/o ramas pequeñas con el filo izqui-erdo del disco entre las posiciones horarias de las 8 en punto y las 10 en punto como se demuestra en la figura 33. Evite cortar con cualquier otra parte del disco.

Al cortar maleza. lleve el disco de derecha a izquierda; de esta forma el disco se mantiene al frente todo el tiempo. Se recomienda que el disco se incline un poco hacia abajo para evitar la acumulación de desperdicios de pasto en el filo del disco.

Robotes del disco ocurirán sin adver-tencia si el disco se atasca, obstruye, o envuelve en el corte. Una cuchilla desafilada tiende más a rebotar que una afilada porque ésta última tiende a morder en el corte mientras que una cuchilla desafilada tiende a re-botar del corte.

Cundo trabaje con disco, mantén-gase alejado de las cercas y edificios. Tenga cuidado con estacas, cables o demás objetos que puedan producir un rebote o enredarse en el disco.

No sobre extienda el cuerpo. Sujete la unidad en una posición cómoda y mantenga el equilibrio en todo mo-mento.

Mantenga el motor a máxima po-tencia durante el corte. La presión aplicada debe ser sólo la necesaria para mantener la velocidad del motor sin desperdicio de combustible. Evite la operación prolongada a velocidades bajas para prevenir que el embrague patine. El patinaje excesivo del embrague puede causar el desgaste prematuro de los componentes del embrague.

No golpee ni haga chocar el disco con árboles pequeños o arbustos. Es muy desgastante para el equipo y podría ser peligroso. Para evitar que se enre-den las plantas tipo enredaderas con la desmalezadora, córtelas en varios pedazos. Comience por la parte supe-rior y descienda hasta llegar al tronco. No levante el disco más alto del nivel de su cintura.

Si el disco golpea un objeto sólido o empieza a vibrar, para de cortar inmediatamente, detenga la marcha del motor e inspeccione el disco. De encontrarlo quebrado o con algún otro tipo de daño, cambielo por uno afilado.

Los árboles pequeños casi siempre se caen con un solo corte. Use el filo del disco ubicado entre las posiciones ho-rarias de las 5 y las 10 en punto para evitar rebotes. Según la inclinación del corte es posible dirigir la caída del árbol. Una vez cortado, el árbol gen-eralmente se ladea hacia la parte más alta del tocón. Para tumbar árboles más grandes puede requerir varios cortes.

Si el disco se atasca en el corte, ap-ague el motor inmediatamente antes de intentar liberar el disco.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Al efectuar cortes verticales, nunca permita que el disco sobrepase la altura de su cintura.

Cortes Verticales con un Disco para MalezasSostenga la desmalezadora con el disco a un ángulo de 90 grados con respecto al suelo, de forma que el disco gire a dirección contraria del operario. Emp-iece el corte de arriba hacia abajo y corte únicamente con el lado inferior del disco. Consulte la figura 34.

Ajustes del carburadorLa desmalezadora B530 esta equipada con un carburador ajustable. En esta unidad, la mezcla prefijada de combus-tible del carburador puede reajustarse de acuerdo a lo siguiente:

¡ADVERTENCIA!

El accesorio de corte NUNCA debe de girar cuando el motor esté funcionando a marcha mímina!

Al soltar la palanca del control del acel-erador, el motor debe volver a marcha mínima. La marcha mínima normal es ajustada para permitir que el mecanismo del embrague desenganche el motor del accesorio de corte cuando el motor está en velocidad mínima de acuerdo a las especificaciones. Para ajustar la veloci-dad mínima:

1. Encienda el motor y déjelo funcionar en marcha mínima durante 2 ó 3 minu-tos hasta que caliente.

2. Si el accesorio de corte gira mientras el motor está en marcha mínima, dele vuelta al tornillo de ajuste de marcha mínima en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj hasta que el accesorio de corte deje de girar. Consulte la figura 31.

3. Si tiene un tacómetro disponible, la marcha mínima se debe ajustar a 2500-RPM + 250 RPM. Si no tiene un tacómetro disponible, ajuste la marcha mínima hasta que el accesorio de corte pare de girar.

Ajustes de mezcla de combustible

PRECAUCION!No sobre apriete los tornillos del carburador. De lo contrario, el asiento del tornillo y/o la superficie del asiento interno del carburador se pueden dañar.PRECAUCION!

El motor puede ser dañado si el carburador es ajustado incorrecta-mente. Una mezcla pobre (rica en aire) puede resultar en que el motor se funda.

L= Mezcla de velocidad baja desde la posición cerrada: 0-1/2 vueltas

H= Mezcla de velocidad alta desde la posición cerrada: 2+1/4 vueltas

El tornillo de mezcla de alta velocidad debe ser ajustado de forma que la veloci-dad máxima del motor no exceda 11,000 RPM sin una carga. Consulte la figura 31.

NUNCA use la unidad sin el protector del accesorio de corte y/o sin otros dispositivos de seguridad.

SIEMPRE asegúrese de que el acceso-rio de corte esté debidamente instalado dentro del porta cortador apropriado.

SIEMPRE asegúrese de que el accesorio de corte este debidamente instalado y asegurado en posición. Si observa que el accesorio vibra a pesar de estar bien in-stalado, cámbielo por uno nuevo y vuelva a inspeccionarlo.

Comprobación del Estado de la Unidad

Ajuste los tiran-tes del arnés de forma que la almohadilla de hombros descanse comodamente sobre los hom-bros y que la trayectoria del disco de corte esté paralelo al suelo. Cer-ciórese de que todo los accesorios de ajuste y ganchos estén asegurados. Ver figura 32.

SIEMPRE apague el motor inmediata-mente si la máquina golpea un objeto o se enreda e inspeccione en busca de daños.

NUNCA corte con cuchillas desafila-das. Use cuchillas afiladas y en buenas condiciones.

NUNCA haga funcionar la máquina si ésta tiene sujetadores o los soportes de los accesorios desgastados o dañados.

1. Coloque la unidad firmemente en el suelo.

2. Sujete el tubo exterior firmemente con la mano izquierda y con la mano derecha agarre el mango del arrancador.

3. Tire lentamente de la cuerda de arranque hasta que sienta que el arrancador engancha. Consulte la figura 28.

4. Tire del mango del arrancador hacia afuera rapidamente para encender el motor.

PRECAUCION!Nunca opere esta desmalezadora sin el accesorio de corte instalado!

IMPORTANTE!El arrancador puede proveer un rendimiento duradero y sin problemas si se siguen las recomendaciones a continuación:

¡ADVERTENCIA!

El accesorio de corte girará cuando el motor se enciende y girará más rápido conforme el motor aumente en velocidad.

Cuando el motor enciende o trata de encender—1. Mueva la palanca de cebado hacia

abajo hasta donde dice “open choke.” Consulte la figura 27.

2. Si el motor se apaga, repita el proced-imiento aplicable para el arranque de un motor frío o caliente.

3. Una vez que encienda el motor, limpie el exceso de combustible de la cámara de combustión, acelerando varias veces el motor. El uso de la palanca del control del acelerador desengan-cha automáticamente el seguro de la marcha mínima y mantiene el motor en marcha mínima.

Si el motor no enciende— Repita los procedimientos de arranque aplicables para un motor frío o caliente. Si el motor falla en arrancar, consulte las instrucciones para “arranque de un mo-tor ahogado” (página siguiente).

Arranque de un motor ahogado1. Deslice el interruptor del sistema de

encendido hacia la posición “STOP” (parada).

2. Desconecte el cable de la bujía y quite la bujía. Consulte la figura 29.

3. Si los electrodos de la bujía y el aislador de cerámica están sucios o mojados de combustible, limpie o cambie la bujía. Consulte la página 17 para las especificaciones de la bujía y el procedimiento de calibración.

4. Abra el cebador. 5. Oprima la palanca de aceleración y

arranque varias veces el motor para eliminar el exceso de combustible en la cámara de combustión.

PRECAUCION!La instalación incorrecta de la bujía puede ocasionar daños serios al motor!

6. Vuelva a instalar la bujía y apriétela firmemente con los dedos usando la llave de bujías provista en el juego de herramientas. Si tiene una llave de tor-sión disponible, apriete la bujía a 170-190 kgf cm (148-165 libras-pulgadas)

7. Repita el procedimiento de arranque para un “motor caliente”.

8. Si el motor falla en encender, consulte la guía diagnóstico provista en la página 19.

IMPORTANTE!El sistema de encendido del motor montado en el cuerpo del acelerador es controlado por un interruptor de dos contactos. Dicho interruptor está indicado con la palabra “STOP” y tiene una flecha blanca indicando la posición de apagado. La letra “I”, que significa encendido (“ON)” y la letra “O”, que significa apagado (“OFF”) aparecen en el lado izquierdo del acelerador, cerca del botón del interruptor.

2. Deslice el interruptor del sistema de encendido a la posición marcada “I” (encendido). Consulte la figura 24.

¡ADVERTENCIA!Disminuya el riesgo de incendios! Siempre deje enfriar el motor

antes de volver a llenar el tanque! Limpie todo derrame de combustible

y aleje la desmalezadora por lo me-nos 10 pies (3 metros) del depósito y tanque de combustible antes de volver a encender el motor!

Nunca fume ni encienda fuegos cerca de la desmalezadora ni del depósito de combustible!

Nunca coloque material inflamable cerca del silenciador del motor!

Nunca opere el motor sin antes comprobar que el silenciador es-tén funcionando adecuadamente.

IMPORTANTE!Este motor está certificado únicamente para funcionar con una mezcla de 50:1 de gasolina sin plomo y aceite de mezclar para motores de 2 tiem-pos. Mezcle solamente el combustible necesario para uso inmediato. De ser necesario almacenar el combustible por más de 30 días, mézclelo primero con un estabilizador, como STA-BIL™.

Mezcle combustible combinando gasolina sin plomo y aceite Shindaiwa Premium de dos tiempos en pro-porción de 50:1 (un litro de gasolina mézclada con 20 ml fluidas de aceite de mezclar de 2 tiempos).

Use únicamente gasolina fresca, limpia y sin plomo, con índice de octanaje de 87 o superior.

Combustible PRECAUCION! Algunos tipos de gasolina con-

tienen alcohol y oxigenados. Gasolina oxigenada puede au-mentar la temperatura generada durante el funcionamiento del motor. Bajo ciertas condiciones, gasolina con alcohol puede re-ducir las propiedades lubricantes de ciertos aceites de mezcla para motores de 2 tiempos.

Nunca use ningún tipo de gaso-lina que contenga más de 10% de acohol por volumen! Aceites de marca genérica y algunos aceites para motores de fuera de borda pueda que no sean elaborados para el uso en motores de 2 tiem-pos de alto rendimiento y nunca deben ser usados en su motor Shindaiwa.

Llenando el tanque de combustible

1. Coloque la desmalezadora sobre una superficie plana y nivelada.

2. Limpie cualquier tierra o desperdicio alrededor de la tapa del tanque de combustible.

3. Retire la tapa del tanque y llene el tanque con una mezcla de combus-tible fresco y limpio.

4. Instale la tapa del tanque y apriétela firmemente.

Procedimientos de Arranque

3. Expulse el aire del carburador del sistema de combustible , oprimiendo la bombilla de cebado varias veces hasta que sienta resistencia y que el combus-tible fluya de regreso hacia el tanque por la manguera de retorno. Consulte la figura 25.

4. Mueva la palanca de cebado hacia la posición “close choke.” Consulte la figura 26.

3. Instale el sujetador B en el eje de la caja de cambios. La muesca ranurada del sujetador B debe encajar con el eje de la caja de cambios.

4. Usando la llave hexagonal para asegurar el Sujetador A, instale y apriete con la mano el cabezal (para instalar, gire en dirección contra a las agujas del reloj). Consulte la figura 22.

5. Retire la llave hexagonal de la caja de cambios y del sujetador.

IMPORTANTE!El hueco maquinado en el sujetador B debe rodear completamente el retén de seguridad, y ambos sujetadores deben es-tar planos contra la superficie del disco.

NOTA:Cuando instale ciertos discos, pueda que sea necesario retirar temporal-mente el retén de seguridad.

1. Con el eje de salida de la caja de cambios cara arriba, gire el eje de cambios y el sujetador A hasta que la muesca en el sujetador A se alinie con la muesca en el borde de la caja de cambios , y luego asegure el sujetador a la caja de cambios insertando el lado más largo de la llave hexagonal a través de ambas muescas. Consulte la figura 15.

2. Retire el perno del eje, el protector del perno y el sujetador B. Consulte la figura 15.

3. Deslice el retén de seguridad fuera del centro sobre el eje de la caja de cambios. Consulte la figura 16.

4. Deslice el disco sobre el retén de segu-ridad y sobre el borde del sujetador A. Consulte la figura 17.

5. Asegure el disco en el eje centrando el retén de seguridad. Consulte la figura 18.

6. Instale el sujetador B en el eje de la caja de cambios. Consulte la figura 19.

7. Asegure el sujetador A a la caja de cambios insertando el lado más largo de la llave hexagonal a travéz de ambos huecos como fué hecho en el proced-imiento número 1 y apriete el perno del eje seguramente con la llave combi-nación de bujía/destornillador. Consulte la figura 20.

8. Retire la llave hexagonal.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

Nunca opere la desmalezadora sin el retén de seguridad instalado y am-bos sujetadores asegurados firme-mente y planos contra la superficie del disco !

La desmalezadora debe estar completamente ensamblada.

1. Compruebe que la palanca de acel-eración opere sin trabarse. Si nota trabas o atasco, deberá identificar la causa y corregirla antes de usar la desmalezadora.

2. Verifique el espacio libre de la palanca del control del acelerador. El espacio libre o holgura adecuada debe ser de apróximadamente 7mm (0.276 pulgadas) en la posición de marcha mínima. Consulte la figura 13. Si es necesario, la holgura puede ser ajustada de la siguiente manera: (Consulte la figura 14).

a. Deslice la tapa del ajustador hacia arriba para dejar al descubierto el ajustador del cable.

b. Afloje la tuerca de seguridad del cable.

c. Enrosque o desenrosque el ajusta-dor del cable hasta obtener aproxi-madamente 0.276 pulgadas (7mm) de holgura en la palanca de aceleración.

d. Apriete la tuerca de seguridad del cable .

7. Conecte los alambres de las termina-les del interruptor con las del motor.

8. Conecte el alambre de tierra del interruptor y el alambre de tierra del motor.

9. Instale el protector de cadera sobre el tubo exterior. Consulte la figura 11.

PRECAUCION!Asegurese de que el tornillo sujetador y el retén estén debidamente apretados antes de apretar los cuatro tornillos de cabeza allen.

corte entre el tubo exterior y la placa de montaje. Consulte la figura 7.

NOTA:Pueda que sea necesario aflojar el retén y el tornillo sujetador para ajustar la placa de montaje del protector del accesorio de corte.

2. Coloque los el soporte sobre el tubo exterior e instale sin ajustar los cuatro tornillos de cabeza allen y apriete los cuatro tornillos. Consulte la figura 7.

Protector Secundario.(cuando el cabezal está en uso)

1. Una la extensión del protector al protector del implemento de corte.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

JAMAS utilice esta maquina sin el protector secundario cuando el cabezal esté en uso.

PRECAUCION!Asegurase que el protector secundario este completamente enganchado con el receptor del gancho.

¡ADVERTENCIA!

La cuchilla de corte es muy aguda Use guantes para protejer sus manos.

Para cambiar la posición de la cuhilla de corte.

1. Retire los dos tornillos con una llave hexagonal de 4mm. Consulte la figura 7A.

2. Gire la cuchilla de corte. Consulte la figura 7A.

3. Reinstale los dos tornillos y aprietelos firmemente.

NOTA:Tenga cuidado y no pierda las dos tuercas en el protector del accesorio de corte, las tuercas no están capturadas.

La cuhilla para cortar el nylon puede ser colocada en dos posiciones y obtener un largos diferentes para cortar.

PRECAUCION!¡No debe quilarse la arandela de calce D! La arandela del calce previ-ene daño en caso de sobre-ajustar el tornillo de la abrazadera.

Instale el eje principal y el tubo exterior.Consulte la figura 5.

1. Coloque el motor sobre una superfi-cie plana, apoyado de su pedestal.

2. Lubrique las puntas estriadas del eje central con una grasa de base de molibdeno.

3. Afloje el tornillo de fijación de 6mm en la unión de la abrazadera del tren motor. Consulte la figura 6.

4. Inserte el conjunto del tubo dentro de la unión del motor. Cerciórese de que la unión motor esté alineada con la calcomanía “Insert up-to here” en el tubo exterior. Consulte la figura 5.

PRECAUCION!No fuerce el tubo exterior dentro del motor! Esto puede dañar las estril-las del eje principal y/o el asta del tambor de embrague. Si la insta-lación se dificulta, gire el motor o el eje principal hasta que sienta que las estrillas del eje principal encajen dentro del tambor de embrague.

Antes de ensamblar este producto, cerciórese de que tenga todos los componentes necesarios para armar una unidad completa:

Motor.

Tubo exterior completo.

Protector del accesorio de corte.

Arnés.

Accesorio de corte (cabezal de nylon o disco para cortar maleza).

Llaves tipo “Allen” de 3mm, 4mm y 5mm, llave de boca de 8mm/10mm, combinación de llave bujía y porta herramienta.

Componentes requeridos para el ens-amblaje (amarres de cable, conector del cable de acelerador y pasa cable del acelerador).

Inspeccione cuidadosamente todos los componentes en busca de daños.Accesorios Incluídos: Arnés tipo chaleco, y juego de herramientas.

5. Si es necesario, gire el tubo exterior hasta que el eje de sálida de la caja de cambios quede apuntando hacia abajo en dirección opuesta a la bujía.

6. Apriete firmemente el tornillo en la unión de la abrazadera.

Esté Alerta del Area de Trabajo

Evite trabajar durante largo tiempo bajo temperaturas muy calientes o muy frías.

Tenga extremado cuidado al trabajar sobre terrenos resbalosos, especialmente en tiempo de lluvia.

Si hace contacto con un objeto sólido, detenga el motor e inspeccione el accesorio de corte en busca de daños.

Cuando trabaje en un terreno rocoso o cerca de cables o cercas eléctricas, use extremo cuidado y

evite tocarlos con el accesorio de corte. Figura 2

Cerciórese de que los transeúntes u observadores que estén fuera de la “zona

de peligro” a 50 píes usen protección de ojos.

del accesorio de corte esté correctamente

instalado.

Reduzca el riesgo de que algún transeúnte sea golpeado por un objeto

volante. Asegurese de que nadie esté dentro de 50 píes (15 metros) de distancia de un accesorio en operación. Esto es aproximadamente

16 pasos.

SIEMPRE use protección para los ojos como escudo contra objetos lanzados.

NUNCA arranque el motor cuando transporte la máquina.

NUNCA opere la máquina en el interior! Cerciore que siempre haya buena ventilación. El humo o gases del escape del motor pueden causar serias lesiones o la muerte.

SIEMPRE mantenga su area de trabajo libre de basura u objetos que pueden rebotar contra usted o contra transeúntes.

SIEMPRE use el accesorio de corte apropiado.

SIEMPRE pare el motor inmediata-mente si repentinamente empieza a vibrar. Inspeccione y busque accesorios o partes quebradas, fal-tantes o instaladas incorrectamente.

SIEMPRE mantenga la máquina lo más limpia posible. Mantengala libre de vegetación, barro, etc.

SIEMPRE sujete la máquina firme-mente con ambas manos cuando corte o recorte, y mantenga el con-trol en todo momento.

SIEMPRE mantenga los mangos limpios.

SIEMPRE descenecte el cable de bujía antes de hacer mantenimiento a la máquina.

SIEMPRE si el disco/cuchilla se enreda en un corte, apague el motor inmediatamente. Saque la rama o árbol para liberar el disco/cuchilla.

El Operario Propiamente Equipado

Siempre opere con ambas manos sujetando

el mango firmemente.

Use ropa de su talla para protejer su piernas y brazos. Los guantes siempre proveen protección adicional y son altamente recomendados. No use ropa holgada o joyas que puedan atascarse en la máquina o en la vegetación. Amárrese el cabello largo de tal forma que esté sobre el nivel de los hombros. NUNCA use pantalones cortos.

Use un protector auditivo y un casco o sombrero con alas.

Siempre use protección para los ojos tal como lentes de seguridad.

Mantengase alejado disco de cortar maleza en rotación en todo momento,

y nunca levante un accesorio en rotación más arriba de su cintura.

Use calzado apropiado (botas o zapatos antideslizantes): no use zapatos con los dedos descubiertos o sandalias. Nunca opere la máquina descalzo!

Mantenga una posición apropiada y nunca extienda el cuerpo. Mantenga su balance en todo momento durante el uso de la máquina.
