The westbound Southwestern Limited was roll- ing through Daleville when this photo was made in 1954 — 17 years before passenger service was discontinued on the line. The train was No. 11, later 311, and was on New York Central lines, afterwards Penn Central and now Conrail. John W. Hatcher, retired assistant ticket agent at Union Station, reports the last passenger train ran Friday, April 30, 1971. The Southwesterns passing through Muncie operated between New York City and St. Louis. The Daleville station was razed several years ago. Carl Wasson for many years was the agent and on retiring carried mail to and from trains. (Star Photo by Dick Greene)
