If your child is late, they are missing out on learning.If your child is regularly late, it will affect their learning at school.

Give your child the best start to the school day by arriving by 8.45am.

8.45am Your child has arrived in time to settle well and has the best start possible.

9am Your child has arrived just after most students as the school day starts at 9am.

9.01am Your child is late and have missed the beginning of the school day, being a few minutes late often unsettles you.

9.05am 5 minutes late a day means 3 days lost a year.

9.10am 10 minutes late a day means 6 days lost a year.

9.15am 15 minutes late a day means 9 days lost a year.

What can you do to support your child’s learning?

As a parent/guardian, you can help them to look after themselves:

• Sleep / sleep routine: Research is extensive (8-10 hours)• Eating well• Keep a good structure / routine• Exercise (go for a walk together)• Mindfulness

There is a difference between knowing and

retrieving.

It’s precisely this ‘struggle’ or challenge that improves our

memory and learning – by trying to recall information, we exercise or

strengthen our memory, and identify gaps in our learning.

Retrieval practice makes learning effortful and

challenging.

We may feel like progress is slow, but that’s when our best learning takes
