Counterfeit Christianity: The Persistence of Errors in the

Church

Historic heresies didn’t die or fade away. While these coun-

terfeit teachings remain outside the accepted bounds of

Christianity, modern-day versions continue to plague church-

es and undermine the good news of Jesus. Roger Olsen and

Adam Hamilton have managed a series of brief and substan-

tive conversations about what all too often passes for Chris-

tian faith. In user-friendly language, they remind viewers that

pointing out heresy is not about judging or condemning peo-

ple for failing to have perfect theology. Instead it is about

defending the good news of God’s saving love in Jesus by

identifying teachings that undermine the gospel by spread-

ing distorted or knockoff versions of genuine faith.

Calcasieu Community Clinic update

Honoring the late Jane Storozyszyn’s annual tradition, a group of talented Good Shepherd

chefs created a tasty meal for the folks at the Calcasieu Community Clinic. We are thankful

for those who provided the meal: Stuart Weatherford, Jackie Carleton, Coral Jones, Jan

Ware, Melissa McHenry, Sara Bass, Missy Shaddock, Karen Miller, Anita Luff, and Laura

and Buddy Leach. The menu included Red Beans and Rice, Lasagna, White Bean/Green

Chili Enchiladas, Scalloped Potatoes, two spectacular Salads, Breads with delicious butter,

Chocolate Chip Cake, Coral’s Cookies, and two gorgeous cakes.

The Calcasieu Community Clinic is a not-for-profit, free health care clinic located at

McNeese State University’s Juliet Hardtner Hall College of Nursing. The clinic provides free

ambulatory medical care and pharmaceuticals to the low-income, working uninsured in the

five-parish area of Imperial Calcasieu including Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and

Jefferson Davis.

With improved health, these individuals are more productive in the work force and in the

community. Volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists and non-medical personnel staff the

Thursday evening clinic. Specialists, lab services, oral health care providers and vision pro-

viders are available by referral only.

Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
