Dear KBC Family,

As we look forward to a warmer month, hopefully leaving the snow and ice behind, we look to

Easter and the new beginnings found in the season. There will be changes on the horizon and we

should look at these with anticipation for what God will have in store for each of us. But before we

approach Easter, we must look to Lent with meditation and a willingness to answer God’s call. I have

designed our next WOW series to reflect this theme. I am hoping that everyone will accept the

challenge that this six week study should offer to us. As most of you probably know by now, Robbie

will be retiring from the music ministry after Easter and I do not know if our WOW services will

continue with the Reign band. I hope that this study provides an excellent conclusion to WOW as we

have experienced it.

Six weeks to Easter-WOW 2018

Many people give up things for Lent. What does God really want us to give up?

Wed. February 14- Giving Up Control- Matthew 4:1-11 (Jesus denied his own impulses and followedGod’s will).

Wed.February21-GivingUpExpectations-John3:1-17(NicodemushadahardtimeunderstandingGod’sgrace because of the expectations of his religious structure).

Wed. February 28-Giving Up Superiority- John 4:5-42 (Jesus broke all kinds of social conventions byspeaking to this Samaritan woman, and in public no less.).

Wed. March 7- Giving Up Enemies- Luke 19:37-44 (Following Jesus’example).

Wed.March 14-GivingUpOur Lives- John 11::1-45 (Jesus calls us to throwawayour fixed conventions).

Wed. March 21-Giving Up Popularity-Matthew 21:1-11

I hope you will come to as many as you are able.

Love and peace to all,

Carolyn

Prayer for the Month

Dear Father in Heaven,

We come to you in need of your leading and instruction as we begin our Lentenjourney. We so often become bogged down in the details of life and forget to seethe bigger picture of life and its needs. We so often give ourselves to what we thinkis necessary and fail to see what is needful.Whereas we tend to think in terms of doing things primarily where we live, Jesusthought of people elsewhere who had needs. Whereas we tend to take our signalsfrom others, Jesus took his direction from You. Whereas we tend to live life at afrantic pace, Jesus went out to the desert alone and prayed to find renewal.

As we walk the Christian journey we pray that you will provide us a greater vision.Interrupt our frantic activity. Help us to find the creative spiritual pause which willmake clearer our mission and refresh us for it. Help us to see all people as yourpeople and to know that we have the responsibility to love them. Help us to havethe courage to change the way we have gone about life and to make it both morerewarding and more fruitful.

We ask your care for all of the suffering of the world. Be with those who are livingwith the effects of natural disasters. Be with who are those living with the effects ofwar. Be with those who are hungry. Be with those who are homeless. Providethem comfort. Amen.

KBC will hold a Day of Prayer on Friday,February 2nd from 10:00am -2:00pm

All are welcomed!

At our planning meeting in January, we voted to support our FoodPantry this year, instead of the Thanks For Giving project that we’vedone for the last few years. Each month this year, when we meet, wewill ask each member to bring certain things that the Food Pantryneeds or, if you’d rather, cash donations. Watch our Newsletters,Bulletins, and Warren’s emails for suggested needs for that month. If you would also like to be on the JOY email list, please let Warrenknow.

This month, we’re asking you to bring jelly, pancake mix, syrup, softdrinks (all kinds), small fruit juices, and/or canned fruit for the FoodPantry. Come join us - all are welcome!

KBC FOOD PANTRYOur mission is to provide basic food to those who are low income, elderly, widowed, sick, those whohave lost their jobs, have been laid off from work and for those who can no longer provide basicnecessities for their families.

Proverbs 22:9 He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.

We thank everyone for the support you have provided the food pantry - without your assistance wecould not help the needy families in our community.

This month we ask for donations of pancake mix, syrup, jelly, canned fruit, soft drinks and fruit juices. We also need paper bags with handles. We currently have NO need for plastic bags.

We are so blessed for the wonderful group of volunteers who assist in the Food Pantry. We also thankour local churches who provide volunteers and also bring monetary and food donations as well.

We currently open the food pantry on the third Wednesday of each month. Our hours are 1 – 4 pm.

Once again, a big THANK YOU to our congregation for your support and to those volunteer workersthat show up each day we have the food pantry open. We couldn’t make this happen without you!!

When we received the renovation grant, we also borrowed an additional $25,000from duPont. We have to pay it back, interest free, $5,000 a year for five years and

it began last year. We made the first payment in March of 2017. A designated

account for Debt Reduction has been generated for anyone who would like to help

with the $5,000 each year. Your contribution helps us not to touch the church's

funds.

Thank you, Mary Ann, Treasurer

(By email on 01/29/2018)My dear friend in Christ,Greetings from Myanmar! Hope this email finds you well by His marvelousgrace. It is always our joy to bring the ministry news update and prayer needsto you. Thank you soooo much for your prayer support and financial help.May this new year of 2018 be a blessed year for you and for your love ones.Grace and Peace,Victor Vul

Jan. 29, 2018 My dear friend in Christ,

Happy New Year! May this New Year, 2018 be a blessed year for you and your love ones. Once again, it's our joy to bring our news update and prayer needs to you. Victory International School (VIS)

Praise God! VIS students (name of the ream: the Eagles) got first prize in “Model Design Award” at STEM competition. We had teachers’ field trip during the first week of January at Pyin Oo Lwin and Mandalay. And the weekly teachers’ training is going well also. Students will have their field trips during this week. We also had “Dress up Day–Around the World” on Jan. 26. Weekend

class started on Jan. 13; we have 10 students, hope to have few more. Exciting things are happening at VIS. We praise God for that. Please continue to pray for us and keep supporting us.

Here are our immediate prayer requests: ) Field trips for students for God’s protection. ) SAT test materials and exam during February 3rd week. ) Kindergarten graduation on March 20; and immediately follow by

Summer English program. ) Payment for renewing rental contract (about $1,400 per month) is

due before the end of March. As students’ number is increasing and more classrooms needed, we are praying to build two stories building for classrooms, computer and library behind the building that we are renting now. We budgeted around $15,000 toward this project.

Water Filter & Humanitarian Aid

We were able to build more live-sand water filters in Tuingo village. The surrounding villages are also asking for that. As I have mentioned it earlier in my new update, most of the people around these areas are drinking water from hand-dug wells, the water is greasy and yellow color on the top; mostly muddy and dirty during the rainy season. Please continue to pray for us and support us so that we can build more. Victory Community Chapel (VCC)

VCC is going well. We are praying for more people to join us. Through the ministry of VCC, I will be doing Sunday school teachers’ training during the second week of February and then with Bruce, we will be doing Bible preaching Seminary in Chin state, near my home village for pastors and preachers. With Richard, we will also be doing some Bible preaching seminar at Kalay Myo in March. Please continue to pray for VCC. Thank you again for your prayer and financial support.

If you would like to donate for the ministries we are doing, you can send fund directly through WU or MoneyGram with Lal Sawi Vula (When you do it, i will need sender's name, amount sent, and tracking number) or send it to Inspire International: 1200 Wilmington Ave., Richmond, VA 23227; and note "Myanmar Project" in the memo line. May our good Lord and soon coming King continue to bless you and keep you safe! Lal Sawi Vula (Victor), Managing Director, VIS H.
