SUNJET II project, the successor of SUNJET, was a CSA aiming at fostering the collaboration between Japan and Europe in the domain of R&T for aviation. The project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 640480.

The achievements of SUNJET II is the result of the strong collaboration between European and Japanese partners with the support of the European Commission and the METI. Amongst the others, recommendations produced in the frame of the project have been already included in the expected WP2018-2020. During its lifetime SUNJET-II has successfully organized two Forums on “Europe-Japan Cooperation in the domain of R&T for Aviation”. The first one was held in the frame of ILA-Berlin Airshow 2016 and the second one in the frame of the International Paris Air Show 2017.

The Forums

These events were an excellent opportunity to gather diverse stakeholders from Europe and Japan and to pave the way for future EU-Japan cooperation, which could be co-funded by Horizon 2020 (EU's Framework Programme for Research & Innovation) and by METI (Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and other relevant Japanese Ministries or organizations.

Moreover, at the beginning of the project, a Europe-Japan Symposium on "Electrical Technologies for the Aviation of the Future" took place in Tokyo on March 2015. The Symposium was organized with the strong support of METI and attracted more than 180 participants.

The Market Place

The Collaboration Platform

Following a consultation and interaction between the European and Japanese stakeholders, SUNJETII produced a set of consolidated roadmaps on several aviation-related domains which are considered promis-ing for future EU-Japan R&T cooperation, such as: • More electrical aircraft & hybrid electric propulsion systems,• Smart materials,• Noise reduction.

The Roadmaps

The proposed common roadmaps for future Europe-Japan cooperation in the fields of Aircraft, Systems and Equipment, with the support of R&T institutions, Academics and Clusters can be found in the following link:https://sunjet-project.eu/content/technological-roadmaps

One of the main contributions of SUNJET-II is the collaboration platform. The SUNJET II collaboration platform is dedicated to promoting EU-Japan collabora-tion in the field of aviation, to supporting networking, exchange of information and the organization of events and to shedding light on the project collaboration process when working with EU and Japan.

To use the collaboration tools and information of the platform you may join by visiting the following link: http://sunjet-project.eu/registration/selectprofile-type

Beyond the partnership search, the platform incorpo-rates the Guidance Desk providing guidance material collected from partners involved in past and ongoing EU-Japan projects:http://sunjet-project.eu/guidance-desk/material
