October is the month when the
Library Budget for the following year
goes to the Library Board. The first
reading of the Budget is also held in
October. This year, the first reading
was held at the monthly meeting of
the Library Board on Thursday, Oct.
30th. The second reading will be held
at the November Board meeting, on
Thursday, Nov. 20th at 5:30pm. The
budget is also posted on the Library’s
website. The public is always invited
to the Board Meetings and is
encouraged to offer comments either
in person or via email to
How is the Library funded? The
Library is funded through a mill levy
based on the assessed value of
property in the Library District. The
Clearview Library District mirrors
the area of the RE4 School District
and is entirely within Weld County.
If you look at your property tax bill,
you will see what you pay for Library
services.
This year the assessed valuation of
property is up, which is good news
for the Library’s budget. The
anticipated revenue from property
taxes for 2015 is $1,875,974, an
increase of $167,010 over 2014.
Property tax revenue combined with
other revenue adds up to a budget of
$2,058,974 for 2015.
What’s in store for 2015?
The Library will continue to offer
great programs and collections for
all of our residents.
A part-time Youth Services
Assistant will be added to the
staff to help with the increased
number of children inside and
outside of the Library who use
our services.
The Library is also planning to
increase bandwidth to offer
speedier internet service.
The Library is exploring the
option of adding a 3D printer for
use by the public.
A new building to meet the needs
of our ever growing population is
in the first stages of planning.
If you have any questions about the
budget or Library services, you can
always email the Director,
[email protected]. Or stop
in and have a chat!
The Board, Director and Staff look
forward to serving you in 2015!

Need something to do over the Holidays? Check out one of these Top Ten Circulating New items
Shout-outs to the 14 teen gamers who attended October's Teen Video Game Night! It was a great
turn out for this program and it kick started plans for next month's TVGN.
Attendees munched on pizza and slurped up Game Fuel in preparation for 2 hours of non-stop
gaming. Sound fun? Join us next month!
With a PS3 connected to a large screen, a Wii projected on the wall, and two Xbox 360s connected
to large HD screens, back to back and system linked for 4v4 action, the library meeting room
becomes transformed into a teen-only arcade (supervised by adult staff members of course).
Teens have already voiced when we should have the
next TVGN and what to play:
Friday, November 14th from 5:30-7:30 pm
We will be featuring Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare!
We also are planning on playing Madden NFL 25 for
the PS3 and Super Smash Bros. for the Wii.
Teens, please pre-register for this event on our website
clearviewlibrary.org/events, so we know how much
pizza and soda to get. A parental permission form is
required for ages 13-16. Until then, get your practice on
by checking out our video game collection at the
library. We have games for all ages (yeah, even your younger siblings and your parents) as well as
game guides, ad-free streaming music, and graphic novels. Questions?

THE FOCUS PAGE 4
Socio-emotional development is linked to
learning success. Help children
acquire a positive sense of self, of
family, and of community by practicing
self-control/regulation, sharing, and
cooperation.
Make faces of different emotions, and
have your child guess what you’re
feeling and then copy you. Set clear
limits on behavior. Ask your child how
they feel. Give hugs daily.
The Library now has three separate book clubs! You
are sure to find one that will work for you, or all three
if you prefer.
The First Monday Book Club meets at 6:30-7:30 pm
on the first Monday of every month. This is an eclectic
group that has been meeting for some time. They
prefer a traditional approach to book choices and
discussion. This group facilitates themselves.
The group that meets on the third Monday of the
month named themselves "We'll Read Anything Book
Club", and they meet from 6:30-7:30 pm. They prefer
a more experimental vibe, like coloring outside the
lines. For example: They have chosen to listen to
opera and have a pie pot-luck in conjunction with their
talks to expand the boundaries of their books. This
group is facilitated by Library staff.
The Thursday Afternoon Book Club meets the third
Thursday of the month from 2:00-3:00 pm and falls
somewhere in between the previous two clubs. They
have chosen a book and movie night discussion for
December. This group is facilitated by Library staff.
These are all medium sized groups that meet at the
Windsor-Severance Library. They are open, flexible
and would love for you check them out. See which
one appeals to your inner bookworm, or come to all
three!

selections follow this
