1 What is a sauna

The origins of the sauna are lost in the remote past, associated with purification rituals shared by many ancient religions.

Its therapeutic and aesthetic virtues were known in ancient Greece, but it was especially in the Baltic region, and specifically in Finland, that its practice was popularized and perfected as a supreme source of wellbeing.

The sauna is simply a bath of very hot, dry air taken in a closed environment in which an appropriate device heats and dehumidifies the air.

2 The benefits of a sauna

The sauna has extraordinary relaxation and detoxification powers, and positively influences the mind and body. Nothing is more effective for eliminating nervous tension and reducing anxiety, because the sauna stimulates natural rebalancing of psychophysical states.

The skin cleanses itself and eliminates acids and toxins by sweating. The neurovegetative system is stimulated, improving overall metabolism.

Aesthetically, reduced cellulite and more elastic tissues are best achieved by combining the sauna

with a healthful diet. Other obvious benefits come

from deep cleaning of the skin, which once again becomes pure and luminous.

3 How to take a sauna

First session.

Enter the sauna, spread out a cotton towel and get in a relaxed position possibly with your knees at the same height as your body so that your feet can warm up too.

Relax and listen to your breathing.

The average stay in a sauna is from 5 to 8 minutes, but you should listen to your body and stop when you feel you want to come out. Taking a sauna is not a trial of strength but a pleasant relaxing experience.

You can increase sweating by pouring a ladleful of water, possibly with some aromatic oils, onto the stones.

Before coming out of the sauna, sit down and then get off the bench slowly.

When you come out, freshen up with a cool or cold shower, then stretch out and relax for a few minutes.

Have a second session in the sauna if you wish.

Lastly, when you have finished, have a shower and relax for a few minutes.

Taking a sauna means warming the body up then cooling it down. To get the best out of your sauna session we recommend you drink some water or herbal tea before entering and have a warm shower. Dry yourself thoroughly because you begin to sweat much quicker if your skin is dry.

The basic requirements

Reliability

The temperature fluctuations in the sauna mean the environment is subject to considerable physical stress.A selection of top quality materials and construction techniques are the basic requirements for a long life.

Managing consumption

The safety thermostat built into the heater and the electronics enable smart management of the three heating elements to optimise power consumption. All our high-tech research is aimed at delivering maximum quality and reliability. The control panel instantly operates the on/off function, regulates the temperature set by the user, switches on the warm lighting and runs the colour-therapy sequences fitted as standard to every Effegibi sauna.Every sauna is fully tested for operating efficiency and safety before being delivered to the customer.

Safety

It is a good idea to choose products certified by third parties to guarantee that the construction techniques and materials used come up to international safety standards. All Effegibi saunas are IQM certified, Italy’s top certification body and one of Europe’s leaders in compliance assessment in the electrical and electronics sector.

Rigorous aesthetic and reliability standards are the hallmarks of all Effegibi saunas.

Different types of wood are used, all tested for optimum functioning, that maintain the sauna tradition and are compatible with the thermal stress suffered over the years. Our saunas are constructed from over 10 different types of wood, from Canadian hemlock to the traditional Swedish pine, all painstakingly selected and rigorously quality controlled to provide a vast range of aesthetic solutions.

This attention to detail is the hallmark of every Effegibi sauna, along with top quality materials and a product that stands the test of time.

All the quality and aesthetic features are preserved intact and even enhanced in our made-to-measure models that are fully personalised to blend in harmoniously with any environment in which the sauna is installed.

Effegibi was the very first company to call on the creative vision of a designer for a Finnish sauna.

While remaining true to the traditional Scandinavian roots of the sauna, Effegibi pioneered the different forms and the use of glass that have transformed it into an item of elegant furniture as well as a functional sanctuary of wellbeing.

This revolutionary approach changed the thinking of all makers of saunas, in which aesthetics are now an essential part of the whole concept on which customers base their choice.

5 Where to install a sauna

The only preparation needed is an electrical connection able to take the power used by the sauna, that will vary with its size.

There are no limits to where a sauna can be installed, it can fit perfectly into any home environment.

A sauna is really easy to clean. We recommend first removing any hair, dust and other residues from the benches and the floor. Then clean the benches, walls and floor grille with a cloth lightly moistened with neutral detergent suitable for wood, and then dry them.

6 How to clean a sauna

We recommend first removing any hair, dust and other residues from the benches and the floor. Then clean the benches, walls and floor grille with a cloth lightly moistened with neutral detergent suitable for wood, and then dry them.

The natural wood used for the sauna has not been treated, therefore it must not absorb any detergent. If there are any stains on the wood, these should be removed by lightly sanding the surface down with sand paper and then removing any dust this creates.

Clean the outside walls with gentle cleaning products.
