The Fertilizer Manufacturing Process of Formosa Tungshih Factory
Historical and MotivationFormosa Environment Technology Corporation is to be established because of the responsibility for Taiwan society and using enterprise resource to gain social contribution. Therefore, Formosa Plastics Group start to tie up with Taiwan Government to advocate resource recycling and assist to progress waste food reclaiming. The aim is to increase the ratio of resource recycling and prevent kitchen slops polluting our environment. Therefore, in 2000 August, Formosa Tungshin Fertilizer Factory has been built and started to process raw waste food to organic fertilizer.
The organic fertilizer can improve gradually acidification soil after chemical fertilizer over using for a quite long time and can make soil become more vital after high frequently cultivating.

Our AccomplishmentFormosa Fertilizer Application-Experiment in High Mountain Oolong Tea Field
In 2007 September, autumn tea was growing still at bad situation, those tea trees had not sprout any new leaves. Therefore, use 20 bags Formosa Tea-activator organics fertilizer to improve the soil condition.
The growing of tea tree had been improved after 2 months and the new sprouted leaves was on trees. The situation was better than status in 2006.
In 2007 December (before harvesting) , new leaves were really better than the status in 2006.
On 9th of March 2008, the farmer used Formosa Tea-activator at beginning of sprouting period for tea tree in spring.
To observe on 16th of April 2008, the totally status was much better than the same period in 2007. Obviously, the situation had been improved even though the weather was on insufficient rainy status. The Framer really felt satisfactions with using Formosa fertilizer.
On 16th of April 2008, the tea tree almost fill with new leaves.
The farmer Mr. Chung was in charge of the tea sampling master, his tea also win the 2nd classification prize in tea tasty game in 2007. He really satisfied Formosa fertilizer.
Formosa No.6 Organic Fertilizer for Taiwan No.9 Rice (Japanica Rice)
Used Formosa No. 6 Organic Fertilizer before transplanting rice seedling, and also transplanted rice seedling on February 10 2007. The status of rice seedling was very well.
Observed on 14th of February 2007, because this was 1st time to spread Formosa No.6 Organic Fertilizer, the rice seedling was solid upright and with bright green colour without any over blackness on leaves.
Observed on 2nd of March 2007, 2nd times spread Formosa No.6 Organic Fertilizer, rice seedling was really solid upright with bright green colour after using, there was no any over blackness status.
Observed on 20th of March 2007, after completing 2nd times spreading fertilizer, it is an important period for pest preventing.
Observed on 29th of March 2007 before sunbaking paddy preparing, there was still no any pest happen, the plant was growing well.
Observed on 12th of April 2007, there was no any rice blast problem, this was because Nitrogen controlling well.
Till 25th of April 2007, no any rice blast problem yet, farmers really satisfied those status.
May 10 2007, the ear of rice has gradually grown, the ear of rice quality and quantity could meet standard.
May 10 2007, the neighboring field had serious rice blast problem.
On 23rd of May 2007, the ear of rice already almost matured, the quantity of ear of rice had hit to standard.
June 25 2007, the ear of rice was already mature. The average yield was around 3673kg/ha (maximum 4372kg/ha)
The farmer association of Erlin town purchased Taiwan No.9 rice which used Formosa organic fertilizer from 12 farmers, and the score was given 81 (previously was around 70 only, the top one’s score was 83.) after farmer association judging.
