Fr. Shouraiah Pudota
Dear Parishioners, “Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany. ‘The Lord and ruler is coming; kingship is his, and govern-ment and power.’ With these words the Church proclaims that today's feast brings to a perfect fulfillment all the purpos-es of Advent. Epiphany, therefore, marks the liturgical zenith of the Advent-Christmas season.” — Pius Parsch Epiphany means manifestation. What the Church celebrates today is the manifestation of our Lord to the whole world. After being made known to the shepherds of Bethlehem He is revealed to the Magi who have come from the East to adore Him. Christian tradition has ever seen in the Magi the first fruits of the Gentiles; they lead in their wake all the peoples of the earth, and thus the Epiphany is an affirmation of uni-versal salvation. St. Leo brings out this point admirably in a sermon, read at Matins, in which he shows in the adoration of the Magi the beginnings of Christian faith, the time when the great mass of the heathen sets off to follow the star which summons it to seek its Saviour.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION
Looking for a New Year resolution for 2015 that will actually be kept? We are all blessed with good—given “time, talent and treasure” that we are asked to share. Consider becom-ing more involved at Our Lady of the Pillar, Half Moon Bay. While some ministries necessitate long commitments, there are also many ministries that can be performed with minimal time commitment. Ask yourself: 1. How can I dedicate my life to dedicate to the church and its ministries? 2. What talents do I have that can be beneficial to the church and its ministries? 3. Do I make a conscientious effort to share my treasure in whatever way I can? 4. How can I grow in faith and share it? Think about it this way; is there any organization that offers better benefits than eternal life in heaven? If your resolution in 2015 is to become more involved with the church, please contact the Parish office at (650) 726-4674. Our staff can help you keep your res-olution.
