Parental Conflict Resolution • The key purpose of a parental conflict resolution class is to provide

parents who are considered “high conflict,” valuable and educational information in regards to the relationship between the parent and child.

• Throughout my time here with the Family Court Administration, I have tracked and recorded the petitions filed by the parents who attended the PCR class. From this information, I was able to analyze the trends showcased through the petitions filed by both parties.

• Intent of PCR statistic tracking: To discover what petitions parents were filing prior and after attending the PCR class to showcase areas of refinement that we may need to consider during the PCR class.

Mediation• The purpose of divorce mediation is for the couple going through divorce to decide what is best for them

and their common children.• The couple meets with a mediator, who helps them resolve their issues. This process is implemented to

help end the marriage as respectfully as possible, and to reduce the cost.• The couple works out an agreement , some come easy but others are more time consuming and require a

lot of work. The mediator intervenes when the agreements are hard to reach.• The mediator’s presence is to ease the communication between both parties, brainstorm ideas, reality test

them, help them out making their decisions, and help them stay focused.• The mediator cannot give advice, and must remain neutral.• If the couple comes to an agreement the divorce process becomes shorter, if there is no agreement the

couple then has to see a judge for a final decision to be made.• The main issues covered during mediation are:

– Division of assets– Child custody– Parenting time– Child support– Alimony– Taxes
