Quote of the week
Everything must change at one time or another or else a
static society will evolve”
THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE
Dear Parents and Community Members
I have to admit that the last couple of weeks were a bit more hectic than usual! Obviously I am
looking forward to accomplish the new task with the same resilience and enthusiasm that I have
demonstrated during the past 20 years that I have been at College.
My experience in the various posts of responsibility and my loyalty to the College are the driving
factors that influenced my decision to take this challenge since I truly believe that our College has
a bright future ahead. These are exciting times for the College and an opportunity to move for-
ward with vigour and determination in the knowledge that our school community has clear objec-
tives and plans for implementation.
My vision for our College is that ALL our students learn, the gap between high and low perform-
ance becomes gradually reduced, and that what our students learn, will enable them to be success-
ful citizens in a knowledgeable society. Moreover, my aim is to ensure that we develop inquiring,
knowledgeable and caring young people who can work together in order to create a better and
more peaceful environment through intercultural understanding and most importantly, through
respect.
I would like to remind you that on Monday 28 November we have the first Staff Development
meeting for the teachers at 1.30 pm. On the same day we have a parents’ meeting to discuss the
National Curriculum Framework (NCF). In fact, we will be outlining the major areas and our
perspective on the implementation of the key ideas. There are 2 meetings; at 5pm and another one
at 6.30pm, in order to accommodate all the parents.
I look forward to meeting you.
Best Regards,
Mr George Psaila Headmaster

Senio On Thursday 17 November Mr G Sammut and Ms M Fenech (myself) accompanied Yr 9 Computer Studies and BTEC Information Technology students to visit Megabyte, Total Computer Solutions. This visit was organized by MITA in collaboration with Megabyte. On arrival at Megabyte the staff and management warmly welcomed us to their establish-ment. Officials were waiting for us at the entrance and we were all given special company tags. After proper introductions with officials and management we were directed into a typical company classroom where several slide shows were presented. Ms Grace Mifsud , (Associate Consultant, Human Capital) representing MITA, gave the first introductory talk. This was followed by a slide show by Mr Ranier van Beckum , Megabyte CEO, and after-wards another 3 talks and presentations followed. The boys enjoyed these talks and asked various questions at the end of each one. The presentations gave the boys an insight of what a career in IT would lead to and what companies in this sector have to offer. The boys were particularly intrigued by Mr David Galea, Head of Business Development & Marketing, since his job involved travelling and meeting people all over the globe . At the end of the talks students were divided into two groups lead by Mr Sammut and my-self and we were escorted around the premises by two other heads of departments. We saw offices, classrooms, server rooms etc. Thus students had the opportunity to see first hand how an IT company operates. When the tour ended we followed Mr Ranier van Beckum to a brightly light room were we all set down for another talk with some chosen employees who shared their individual working experience with us. Around noon it was time for us to have a break and we were directed to the company’s cafeteria for refreshments. Luckily enough the local Media were present and invited some students to be interviewed on the spot. These students spoke of what they had experienced and learnt while visiting Megabyte. Their interview aired last Sunday 20 on Net TV. On our departure we were all given a bag which contained various company literature among other tokens. This was surely a memorable experience for all and we will definitely be visiting Megabyte again with other year groups in the near future. Ms M Fenech Marketing Executive Teacher
