The Y6 children had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Dol y Moch and joined in positively and enthusiastically. Each group spent time with the experienced instructors and were pushed to try their best and challenge themselves. The range of activities included: kayaking, rock climbing and scrambling, abseiling, orienteering, rock pooling, mountain biking, mountain exploring and going into abandoned mines. In the evenings, the children completed other activities (such as the labyrinth), exploring the Dol y Moch site and even managed to fit in watching the England game! The children were excellent ambassadors of our school! Thank you to the staff who gave up their weekend to accompany the children on this trip. Everyone had a great time. At the same time other year 6 children went to Coombe Abbey where the children showed excellent teamwork and the quality of dens made was praised by the ranger. In the afternoon the children split into small groups to try their hand at orienteering. Suffice to say that some of us need a bit more practice! However great fun was had by all despite the stinging nettles! The children also went to the AT7 centre, where the children showed daring and literally taking a leap of faith in rock climbing and abseiling a wall over 30 feet in height, After that they had an hour in the splash pool, where the children had a splashing time! On Wednesday they had a CDT project, where they had to create an origami basket and then design and decorate the sweets to go inside. The afternoon kicked off with a pizza extravaganza and ended with a movie. The Drive, Wyken, Coventry.
