Misson Matter:
We are collecting and covering the shoeboxes for the “Samaritan’s Purse”
missions project. Boxes with the list of recommended items are available for indi-
viduals or families to take, shop, then return the shoebox full of goodies. Thank you
to all who take part in this world wide mission project. Special thanks to Pat Boron
who gives of her Time, Talents, and Treasure for this worth while project.
November Mission/Service:
Starting Sunday November 4th FCC will start an “intergenerational” CON-
TEST for all members of the congregation. All those with your last name beginning
with, B-G, will be one team and the second team team will be made of all those
whose last names begin with, H-Z. According to an update roster of attendance that
should make approximately 25 persons per team (we counted).
Now that you know what TEAM you are on...here is the contest challenge.
On Nov. 4th the “bucket brigade” will not be passed pew by pew but will be placed
on Team B-G table and H-Z table. The Buckets will remain there for monetary con-
tribution throughout the “contest”. In addition to the collection of monetary dona-
tions we will also be collecting non perishable supplies for the Twin City Christian
Service Center, lists of items needed for the Food Pantry will be available on the B-
G, & H-Z tables. The final count will conclude the “contest” on Sunday November
25th. The winning team will get a special “treat” during coffee fellowship time that
day. GET READY, GET SET, and on November 4th GO!
Service Project:
An intergenerational service project will be organized and implemented by
the Christian Education Team and the Missions Team for Saturday Nov. 24th. The
Mission Team will conduct a survey with our home members/
shut-ins to let us know what the FCC Faith Family can do to
help them get their home ready for winter. That may include
raking leaves, cleaning out the spouting, (on one story
homes), or whatever would help our seniors/home members.
The Christian Education Team will pair families or service
teams with the seniors/home members for this MISSIONS/
SERVICE PROJECT. And ALL will be BLESSED!
Board Minutes

On October 7th the FCC Official Board voted in favor of entering into a 6 month covenant to do ministry with
Pastor Scott Synder. This “Intentional Interim” position will be reviewed and possibly revised by the Board
and Pastor Scott as FCC moves forward into 2013. Welcome Scott and Staci. The congregation is invited to
celebrate this covenant with Pastor Scott and Staci, at a covered dish dinner (meat dish furnished) on Sunday
October 14th following morning worship.
October is the month when the nominating committee is formed and starts to do their work prior to the No-
vember Election process. Board Chair, Bill Cox asked for two volunteers from the Official Board during the
10/7/12 Board meeting and will be asking for three (3) non-board members from the congregation to serve on
this five person committee.
We asking all the kids of FCC to dress up in their Halloween costumes on Sunday, October
28th. Don’t miss the chance to see all our kiddos dressed up. It’ll be fun everyone!
Treat-or-Treat will be Wednesday, October 31st at 6-7:30 pm. We are looking for volun-
teers to pass out treats at the church. Treats have already been furnished. Please contact the church if
you are interested.

Adult and Children’s Bell Choir
Anyone wishing to join the Ju-Bell-Ation
adult hand bell choir see Barry
Williams. You don’t have to read
music, just enjoy fellowship. Come
and join our ministry of joyfully
lifting up God in music.
The children’s bell choir will be starting again
this fall if we have enough young ones
interested. The Sunday School department is
planning some exciting activities this year and
we hope to add children’s bells if we can. If
you can hold a bell you are old enough to play!
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,I will help you.
I will up hold you with my victorious right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

Seven women met at noon on September 10, at Tents of Grace for
lunch and meeting. CWF opening prayer was used as Grace before our
lunch together. During the business meeting, Treasurer Ann reported
balances as of August 31st in CWF fund as $331 and in a Special fund
$296.27. President Ella reported to members a check for $125 was
received from Opal Hurd. Opal wants $100 given to Twin City Ser-
vice Center in memory of her brother Glenn Cecil. The remaining $25
was for CWF general use.
Names were given out for cards/notes to be sent to shut ins. Women
were reminded to keep Peggy Scott, Jane Steele, and Jon Blank in
their prayers. It was good to have Shirley Sullivan back with us.
Worship service was the devotion from The Upper Room written by
Richard L. Mabry. The title was “Showers of Blessing.” Scripture was Psalm 103:10—He does not
deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Offering was received and meeting closed with CWF Bendiction.

Pastor’s Post
EVERY CHRISTIAN IS CALLED...
“If you don’t know what your spiritual gifts are, it is simply because you have never discovered them.” A survey
of 1200 Christians revealed a shocking result: 80 percent of those surveyed had no idea what their spiritual gifts
might be. Only 20 percent indicated that they knew what their spiritual gifts were and used them.
A spiritual gift can be defined as a special ability that God gives, according to His grace, to each member of the
body of Christ to be used for the development of the church. Each element of this definition is important for the
concept of spiritual gifts:
A special ability: Every Christian has a different gift mix (Roman 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:17-20).
God: Whether we encounter the Father, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, we always meet the same God, just in
different ways.
According to His grace: God doesn’t give you spiritual gifts as a reward for your steadfast character or
spiritual maturity. He imparts them according to His grace (Romans 12:6).
Each member of the body of Christ: Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
For the development of the church: Spiritual gifts are not just for the growth of individual believers; their
primary purpose is to benefit others (1 Corinthians 14:2-5; Ephesians 4:12, 1 Peter 4:10).
God doesn’t call you to a task for which He hasn’t endowed you with the corresponding gifts. If you discover your
gifts, you know to which areas of ministry God is calling you. If you discover that you have a particular gift, but
don’t use it, you can be sure that you aren’t living up to your calling.
On October 21st I will be starting a Sunday School class titled “Gift-Oriented Ministry.” This class will study
spiritual gifts and the Trinity based on 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 were Paul introduces a Trinitarian view of spiritual
gifts. During the weeks to follow each person in the class will be able to identify their spiritual gifts and discover
ways to exercise those gifts.
Gift discovery is a pivotal time in the life of any church and I am excited about beginning this journey with each
one of you. I will also be preaching messages which will center on spiritual health and growth. A few of those
messages will be “God’s all-by-itself principle,” “Experiencing God through the Trinity,” and “Three dimensions
of ministry.”
I hope and pray that each one of you will join me on this journey!
With Love in Christ,
Pastor Scott

The worship team would like to thank everyone who
has help “keep the lights on at FCC” during this time
of change. From the Elder Emeriti filling in at the
table to the folks who provided a kind word and a
cookie, your faith and love has been as inspiration.
Let’s keep the momentum going! Next Sunday,
October 14th Pastor Scott and Staci Snyder will be
back with us and we have a “Welcome meal” for
them. Call someone you haven’t seen at church for
awhile and invite them. Do you have a friend without
a home church or going through a bad time? Invite
them, FCC has a big welcome waiting for them.
Looking ahead to Advent...
The Hanging of the Greens will include a
(very) short service and a soup and corn bread supper.
