The Development of Taiwan Nucl. Med. Prof. Wen-Sheng Huang, M.D. 1955 The radioisotope Lab. established at National Taiwan U. 1956. National Defense Medical Center established the Central Atomic Medical Research Lab. 1957 NTU established a thyroid uptake machine. 1961 National Tsing Hua U (Taiwan) established a nuclear reactor (THOR) and provided I-131 for clinical use. 1965 Taipei Veterans General Hosp (TVGH) purchased a γ-counter, a thyroid uptake machine and a linear scanner. 1967 Dr. Shine-HwaYeh ( 葉葉葉 ) (in US, Stanford U.) published “Tc-99m (V)- Citrate Complex” in JNM and Nature. 1968 Dr. Yeh established the Nucl. Med. Center in TVGH and Tri-Service General Hosp. 1975 TVGH established the clinical RIA Lab. 1984 Taiwan Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER) commercialized oral I- 131. 1987 Establishment of The Society of Nucl. Med., Taiwan (ROC). 1988 Board of Nucl. Med., Taiwan (ROC) established [1 of the 23 governmental recognized (independent) boards]. The 4th AOFNMB held in Taipei (Peter Yeh) with pre-congress meeting (Samuel Yeh). 1992 Multi-purpose cyclotron center established in TVGH (with Scanditronix PET). 1993 INER built medium sized negative charged cyclotron (EBCO, 30MeV). 1996: The 1st. cross-strait nuclear medicine symposium held in Taipei. 1997: Dept. of Health released “Guidelines for preparations of PET drugs” 2005 INER provided Tc-99m TRODAT-1 and In-111 Octreotide for clinical use. 2006 The governmental health insurance reimbursed F-18 FDG PET. The Society established in Mar. 1987. Peter Shine-Hwa Yeh is the 1st & 2nd president. The 1st committee members (Fig.) include William Wei-Lian Chen (陳維廉 ), Kai-Yuan Tzen (曾凱元 ), Ren-Shyan Liu (劉仁賢 ) & Wei-Ren Yao (姚維仁 ). All used to being the presidents. Wen-Sheng Huang (黃文盛 ) is the 7th president. Cheng-Yi Cheng (鄭澄意 ) has been elected as 8th president since 2014-11
