Cloud Computing Gone are the days of a few years ago when we

would have to put our tasks, websites and

materials on a computer or server somewhere.

(We had to put our materials on physical drives

and carry them.) We had to buy a server and

have it set up or have someone set it up for us.

Those servers would need to have datacenters,

power, bandwidth, networks servers and storage.

Also a complicated software stack and a team of

experts, who can install, manage and run them.

This process is what we call hosting in common

language. It costs a lot of money and lot of time

to keep them running all the time. You pay for

these servers when you are running them and you

pay for them when you are not using them. But

now you have a better option - CLOUD

COMPUTING.

Cloud computing is a methodology that offers

network services over the internet. A cloud

computing system consists of highly optimized

virtual datacenters that provide various software,

hardware and information resources for use when

needed. It’s the use of computing resources over

a network typically the internet. The name comes

from the use of a cloud shaped symbol as an

abstraction for the complex infrastructure it

contains in system diagrams. Organizations can

simply connect to the cloud and use the

available resources. This helps companies

avoid capital expenditure on additional on

premises infrastructure resources and instantly

scale up or scale down according to business

requirements.

Cloud computing offers revolutionary

approach for business in how they acquire

technology. It lets them focus on business

rather than worrying about technology.

Instead of buying servers, software and its

employees they get to pay same amount for

same or better system but operated and

managed by another company that holds

their data in their data centers.

Major companies like Amazon, facebook,

twitter use the concept of cloud computing

for running their organization.

With cloud computing you have access to

computing power instantly when you need it.

Put your websites, documents and useful

materials in your cloud server just like you

would put on you dedicated server. If you

suddenly need more computing power

dedicated to you or your site, you can scale

up as much as you need almost instantly.

THE DEERWALKER Message from the Principal

I believe that publication of college bulletin is a very challenging task and it is even more challenging

when it is planned to publish in a regular interval. Special thanks go to the editorial team of “THE

DEERWALKER”, without whose effort this first edition would not have been possible. The outcome is the

blend of untiring effort and dedication and is highly praiseworthy.

This publication is one of the actions taken by the team and management to meet DWIT’s goal of

making its student a complete person with required knowledge not only in academics but in extra-

curricular activities.

I am sure that the readers will enjoy reading this magazine and will get to understand DWIT to some

extent. Finally I would like to congratulate the editorial team for their success in publishing first edition

of THE DEERWALKER!

Mr. Surendra Nath Adhikari

Message from the EDITORIAL TEAM

It's been really a good experience on working on the Editorial team. Having being engaged on these

the best thing was, working with group of people and more as a team. The things we've been learning

on Management on how it feels to be working with a team came into the real world (though its not a

big one).

I guess none of the team members were fully aware on what to do and how to do. As we went on from

our first meeting to collection of articles, their arrangements and to the final preparation of the draft,

things started coming to us and it became easier. Since it was the first time being involved in these kind

of group work I would say it added a great boon on our learning and for our future. The last thing that I

learned is, when you got to do something, you do it by all your means and efforts whatever it takes.

Finally credit to all the team members!

The Editor-In-Chief.

One of the common example of Cloud computing is hosting of servers during

big ceremonies when internet traffic usually gets higher.

And when the traffic gets

down you can release your

server back to the cloud just

as easily. The major

advantage is that when you

need more computing power

you can get it instantly from

the cloud and when you are

done with it you can release it

back to the cloud. Billing is

easy too. It works same as

billing of electricity or gas.

As long as they keep running,

your meter runs as well and

when it is not, your meter

stops too. Or you can think of

it getting into taxi, you run it

as much you need it and

when you are done with it,

you get out and pay your

fare. Why buy the whole taxi

when you can just pay for the

trip. When you want to

access your email you open

your web browser, go to the

email client, and simply log in.

For running any app on the

cloud you just have to login,

customize it and start running

it. Your email or app is not

housed on your physical

Computers make it easier

most of the things they

make it easier to do don't

need to be done.

There are different models the

Cloud computing can be

used depending on our needs

as a home user or small

business owner or any other.

1. Private Cloud – Private

Cloud functions solely for one

organization as a private

network and is highly secured.

2. Public Cloud – Public cloud

is owned by a cloud service

provider and offers a highest

level of efficiency and shared

resources among any

subscribers with an internet

connection and access to the

cloud space. 3. Community

Cloud - A community cloud is

shared among two or more

organizations that have similar

cloud requirements.

4. Hybrid Cloud is a

combination of at least two

clouds, where the clouds

included are a mixture of

public, private, or

community.

One of the common

example of Cloud

computing is hosting of

servers during big

ceremonies when internet

You can save a lot of time

using keyboard shortcuts. Most

people do not even use the

shortcuts they do know. Using

shortcut will increase your

overall productivity. Below are

some of the keyboards

shortcuts we recommend

everyone memorize and use.

These are only for windows

users, sorry for other operating

system users.

Spacebar: This is also very

useful in internet surfing. It will

scroll down one page at a

time. Though we have page

up and page down keys, they

are small in size and quite far

away from your hand position

on the keyboard, so most

people feel uncomfortable to

use those keys. To go one

page up you can use Shift +

Spacebar. And you can also

make use of other two useful

buttons Home and End. If you

are long way down in the

webpage and want to go to

the top press Home and to go

to the end of page from

anywhere in page press End

button.

However on Word you need

to press Home and End key

with the combination of

control key.

Another great use of

spacebar is to pause and

play on vlc media player.

Alt + Tab: You can switch

between open programs

using this key combination.

It is very useful to toggle

between open applications.

Use Shift + Alt + Tab to

switch between open

programs on backward

direction.

Windows Logo + M: If you

are working on lots of

applications or browser tabs

that you don’t wish to show

someone coming nearby,

you can minimize all

applications within a

fraction of a second by

pressing widows key with M.

You can use Windows Logo

+ D also which is a shortcut

to show desktop and you

can press the same keys

again to resume working.

Windows Logo + L: This key

combination helps to lock

your computer instantly

without using ctrl + alt +

delete.

Windows Logo + R: Using a

run command is an efficient

way to execute most of the

applications in a windows

operating system. You can

launch the run command by

pressing windows key + R.

We can create shortcut links

for some of the frequently

used programs but it is not

feasible to keep shortcut links

for all useful applications. If

we know the command word

for applications or system

tools, we can directly execute

that program through the run

command. For example if we

wish to go on Network Setting

you can just type “ncpa.cpl”

in run command and enter

without having to roam

around lots of navigation

pane searching for network

setting irrespective of version

of windows. Most commonly

used run commands are:

Notepad, WinWord, Excel,

mspaint, calc, logoff, regedit,

osk (on screen keyboard),

magnify, fonts, msconfig etc.

Windows Logo + E: This key

combination will open the My

Computer windows pane.

Alt + F4: It is used to exit the

current active application.

Beside this Ctrl + W also works

on most of the applications to

close but for internet browser

it will close the current tab. To

close the browser itself you

need to use Alt + F4.

Alt + Enter: It opens the

properties for the selected

object. This also makes full

screen on most media players.

With combination of mouse

and keyboard

Most computer users don't

take full advantage of the

computer Mouse. For

example the mouse’s scroll

button can do a lot more

things than just scrolling. Below

are some tips.

While browsing the internet

you can open the any link in a

new tab by just hovering over

the link and clicking the scroll

wheel. This will save lot of time

that we spend on right

clicking and clicking on open

in new tab. Probably you all

know that double clicking will

No Smoke: Why the

Fire?

The world should welcome

the electronic cigarette.

Some inventions are so simple,

you have to wonder why no

one has come up with them

before. One such invention is

the electronic cigarette.

Smoking tobacco is the most

dangerous voluntary activity

in the world. More than 5m

people die every year of the

consequences. That is one

death in ten. Yet people

smoke because they value

the pleasure they get from

nicotine in tobacco over long

term certainty that their

health will be damaged. So it

seems rational to welcome a

device that separates the

dangerous part of smoking

(the tar, carbon monoxide

and smoke released by the

process of combustion) from

the nicotine.

E-cigarette uses electricity

from a small battery to

vaporize a nicotine-

containing solution, so that

the user can breathe it in. E-

cigarettes work by turning

nicotine-infused liquid into

vapour, which is then inhaled.

A user is therefore said to be

“vaping”, and is not inhaling

all the noxious substances

found in ordinary cigarettes.

word and triple clicking will

select a paragraph in a text

most of you don’t know how

to select words vertically or

any particular part of the

document just like selecting

the icons in desktop. Press the

Alt key and start dragging

your mouse in the desired

direction in any text editor

(except basic notepad but

works on notepad++), it will

highlight the text under

the/your selection. Now you

can perform your desired

action on the selected text

like copying or making bold

etc. But you can’t do right

click on that otherwise the

selection will vanish, you have

to use shortcut keys such as

Ctrl + C to copy or Ctrl + B to

make it bold etc.. This is very

useful when you need to

select a certain column part

Nanotechnology (sometimes shortened

to "nanotech") is the study of

manipulating matter on

an atomic and molecular scale.

Nano-particles are 10 times smaller than

the Red Blood Cell (RBC). Therefore they

can be easily transported through

blood. Using tiny nano-capsules

scientists have created a tiny drug

delivery system which precisely releases

the treatment without harming the

body. Nano-capsules are nanometer

sized, hollow, spherically shaped objects

that can be utilized to encapsulate

small amounts pharmaceuticals,

enzymes, or other catalysts. The purpose

of a targeted drug delivery system is to

locate and target the diseased cell or

tissue so that we can have a protected

drug interaction with the diseased cell

or tissue.

Imagine you get persistent sickness and

visit the doctor to get treatment for it.

Instead of prescribing you a pill or giving

you an injection, the doctor refers you

to a special medical team and they

implant a tiny robot (nano-robot) into

your bloodstream. A nano-robot is a tiny

machine designed to perform a specific

task with precision at the nano-scale

(10-9 meter). Nano-robots are also called

nanobots, nanoids, nanites and nano-

machines. The robot detects the cause of

your sickness, travels to the appropriate

system and provides a dose of medication

directly to the infected area.

In the near future it might be a common

method of treating diseases but at present it

is in research stage. In a research

conducted on mice, scientists from Rice

University and University of Texas MD

Anderson Cancer Center reported

enhanced effectiveness and reduced

toxicity of an existing treatment for head

and neck cancer when using the nano-

particles to deliver the drug.

If research being conducted results in

success then this drug delivery system will

help reduce the number of dosages taken

by the patient with a more uniform effect of

the drug and reduction of drug side effects.

This system will treat many diseases, such

as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

However, the most important application of

targeted drug delivery will be to treat

cancerous tumors.

MOVIE REVIEW: INCEPTION

Nolan has crafted a movie

that’s beyond brilliant and

layered both narratively

and thematically. It

requires the audience to

take the driving seat and

demands intense

concentration to

understand the fascinating

subtext. Nolan has raised

thoughtful and complex

ideas, and wrapped

everything all in a

breathlessly exciting action

film. Inception may be

complicated, but it is one

of the best movies ever. It

has a solid 8.8 rating on

Imdb and ranks 12th on all-

time top 250 list.

With the likes of Leonardo

DiCaprio(Titanic), Joseph

Gordon-Levitt(500 Days of

Summer), Tom Hardy(The

Dark Knight Rises) and

Cilian Murphy(Red Eye),

Inception assembles a wide

variety of talented and

worldwide popular cast

which guarantees a

worldwide blockbuster

Inception centers on a

team of professionals led

by an “extractor” named

Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio)

who, through the use of a

special device, constructs

the dreams of a target and

uses those dreams to

implant an idea so that the

target will make a decision

beneficial to the person

who hired the team.

The film layers dreams on top

of dreams to the point

where a unique keepsake

called a “totem” is required

in order to inform a

character as to whether or

not he or she is still

dreaming. Then you have

people in particular roles like

“The Architect (Ellen

Page)”,“The Forger (Tom

Hardy) and “The Chemist

(Joseph Gordon Levitt) in

order to pull off the job.

The film deserves, demands,

and rewards repeat

viewings, but from your first

viewing you can grasp the

events on screen and how

they interact with each

other as long as you force

yourself to be an active

viewer. The action climax

of Inception is exhilarating.

Inception features one of

the best fight scenes of all-

time that includes the fight in

zero gravity. Cobb’s

relationship with his wife Mal

(Marion Cotillard) is the heart

of Inception. Mal dies in a

dream and is captured

permanently leaving Cobb

with a great tragedy. Mal’s

appearance in Cobbs’s

dream often distracts him

from his work. The

interactions among the

supporting characters are

standard for a well-made

action movie, but the

relationship between Cobb

and Mal is yet another
