MUSIC FOOD WINE Recipeforthesoul,anditisallfoundinthetownof

DeansMarsh,attheiconicMartiansCafé.

JoshGoddardhastakenoverthepremises,andwithhispassionformusic,foodandgoodlocalwine,heisexcitedaboutthejourneyahead.

JoshspenthisformativeyearsinLorne,wherehewasintroducedtofoodthroughhisparents’involvementintheindustry,andmusicwasalwaysapartofhisupbringing.HetookfoodfurtherandcompletedacookingcourseattheGordoninGeelong.

AnopportunityarosetomakeKingIslandhome.HejoinedtheParersHotelinCurrieasheadchef,andasecondstintatthefamousBoomerangrestaurant.Awonderfulpartoftheworldtolive,Joshandhispartnermarried,andtwobeautifulchildrenweretheresult.

Joshjoinedthemusicscenethereandenjoyedmanyagigaroundtheisland.Theydecideditwastimetotakethestepandbuytheirowncafé.Itwasthelocallunchandcoffeespottocatchup,inthemainstreetofCurrie.

Circumstancesbroughtthembacktothemainland,whereJoshsettledbackintotheregionheloves.TheopportunitytotakeoverMartiansCafécameupandJoshjumpedatthechance.

Thebuildinghasawonderfulhistory,startingoutasthelocalservicestationandmechanicalrepairs.Thepropertywasboughtandsoldacoupleoftimesbeforeitwasrenovatedandbecameahospitalityvenue.

Whentheservobecameacafé,itsooncreatedareputationasaplacetomeet,dineandenjoyalocalbevy.Localfoodartisansofferedtheirwares,andafunkyfurnitureandartspacetookupresidence.Musiciansandartistsalikefounditagreatvenuetoperform.

Sowithanewjourneyaheadforthiscaféwithcharacter,Joshwouldlovetoseeaspecialisedmusicarea,aprovidoreshop,andthepromiseofalocalfurnituremakersettingupresidence,alltyingintomakethisvenuealocalhubforthetown.

Themenuhasanewtilt,andofcoursethefamousThursdaythemenights,whereyoucanexperienceaculinaryadventurefromsomewherearoundtheworld.

TheCottageA.G.Mwasheldonthe1stNovember.ThankstoeveryonethatattendedandtoallinthecommunitythatrenewedyourCottagemembership.TherearethreenewCommitteeofManagementmembers:MeganPeacockistheCottageChairperson,TahliDobbinandJamieComley.LachieStevensistheTreasurer,JoZydbel(GeneralMember)andLucyQuartermanasSecretary.

NovemberMarket:Thereweretwenty-eightstallholdersatthemarketonSunday5November.Themarketwasheldonapublicholidayweekendallowingforvisitorstotheareatoattendingreaternumbersthanatpastmarkets.ManyofthepeopleinattendancehadseenthemarketbanneronentrytoLorneontheGreatOceanRoad.Peoplesurveyedcommentedonthequalityoflocallymadeandproduceditems.Therewerethreelocaloliveoilproducers,wine,cider,jamsandpreserves,coffee,chai,hand-madewoodentoys,honey,jewelryandbread.TheLorneP-12Schoolbandsperformedandcongratulationstoyouallonthequalityofyourperformance.Thankyoutoeveryonethatattendedthemarketandmadeitwonderfuldaytosocialize,buyqualitylocalproduceandenjoytheatmosphere.

RuntheMarsh:Thankyoutothe116peoplewhoregisteredandranintheSunday19thNovemberevent.Agreatturnoutonsuchabeautifulspringday.Ahugecongratulationstoallparticipants,butparticularlytoourwinnersineachevent.

2kmEvent:TheoverallwinnerwasyoungHughCoulson andErminieHope wastheNirstfemaleacrosstheline.WelldonealsotoHarryBrien andJordieAllen cominginaclose2nd and3rd,withGemmaMcGann andBrookMcCarthy taking2ndand3rd forthefemales.

5kmEvent:OverallwinnerwasTimGazzard,butitwasacloseNinishwithKylieEdwards athishealstobecomeourfemalewinner.2nd and3rd placeswenttoHarryMcGann andBryceMorden. 2nd and3rd femalesoverthelinewereEmilyMorden andGeorgiaFranklin.

SpecialmentionswenttoNolaDean whocompletedthe2kmcourseatage82,IslaGazzard atjust1(withsomehelpfrommum)andLuluClark whosedeterminedeffortgotheraroundthe5kmcourseatthetenderageof(justturned)7.

THANKYOU:2017hasbeenanothergreatyearforourschool.Manygreatachievementshavebeenmadeincludinginstallinganewandcolourfulbasketballcourt,aNlatundercoverspaceofartiNicialgrassforthechildrentoeattheirmealsandplayon,aswellasplumbingworksincludinganew22,000ltanktostorerainwater.TheseimprovementswerelargelymadeusingthePlannedMaintenanceFundingwereceived.Buttheycouldnothavebeencompletedatsuchahighstandardwithouttheschoolcontributingadditionalfunds.Thesefundsaregainedfromourfundraisingevents,somanythankstoeveryonewhohassupportedtheschool(inanyway,shapeorform),tohelpusmakethisschoolagreatschoolforthechildrenofDeansMarsh.MayeveryonehaveaMerryChristmasandHappyNewYear!
