has had a long and successful career as choral and orchestral conductor, professional singer, church musician and private voice teacher. He is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and holds a Master’s Degree in choral and orchestral conducting from East Carolina University. Mr. Speakman currently serves as the founding Artistic Director and Conductor of The Concert Singers of Cary, formed in 1991. He is a long time professional soloist and choral singer who has performed on a national stage with groups such as Conspirare, The Westminster Choir, The Philadelphia Sing-ers, and locally with the Schola Cantorum of Christ Church Raleigh, and The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham. As a professional singer, he has sung in small and large ensembles with notable orchestras such as The Boston Symphony, The New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia

Orchestra, The Philly Pops, The National Symphony, The Pittsburgh Symphony and At-lanta Symphony. He has also appeared as a soloist in concert and operatic productions at the Spoleto Festivals in Spoleto, Italy and Charleston, South Carolina, and locally with The North Carolina Symphony and The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle.

The Concert Singers of Cary is an auditioned choral organization that provides a profes-sional experience for musicians and audiences alike. It is highly acclaimed for the unique and varied repertoire it performs, the collaborations it promotes and the learning opportunities available to its members. The Concert Singers of Cary’s 125 voice Sym-phonic Choir is frequently heard with The North Carolina Symphony. The 70 voice Chorale collaborates with The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle and the 35 voice Chamber Choir provides high level small ensemble work for experienced singers. Their repertoire is unmatched in depth and breadth. The Concert Singers of Cary have performed unique and powerful works such as William Grant Still’s "And They Lynched Him on a Tree", Rich-ard Einhorn’s "Voices of Light/The Passion of Joan of Arc", as well as classical oratorio, Baroque with period instruments, and traditional Broadway favorites. They were featured in "Pandemonium: The Lost and Found Orchestra" produced by the creators of "Stomp". The Concert Singers of Cary regularly collaborates with other organizations such as The Triangle Wind Ensemble, The Durham Symphony Orchestra, The Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, The North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, and The Cary Ballet Company.

“CSC Artistic Director Lawrence Speakman put together a remarkable program of unusual music, new and fresh arrangements, an unexpectedly wonderful guest, superb accom-paniments from The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle and pianist Allen Bailey, and of course some major contributions from his outstanding choir.” CVNC, December 13, 2013
