The city of the dreams

Hollywood is a part of city of Los Angeles. Los Angeles or LA is the biggest and the 2nd biggest populated city in the US. (After New York)

The city’s population in 2011 is near 4 million people.

Hollywoodland was the name of a little ranch which stood in this area.

Later there was a little „town” or village there. This name added to my fathers video rental.

Hollywood was a rapidly developing city in the 1900’s. The „town”s population is 110000 people (1,5 times bigger than Szombathely). In 1910 the village was joined to city of Los Angeles.

Hollywood is located in one of the world's most diverse landscape.

Therefore a lot of movies has been shooting in there. Later Hollywood was the capital of film production in the world.

The Hollywoodland (Later Hollywood) sign made in the year 1923. It was originally created as an advertisement for local real estate development.

Later it added to the UNESCO World Heritage List and now it’s a cultural icon of the United States.

In Brasov (In Hungarian Brassó) made a „copy” of the sign.

From the 20’s a lot of films shooting there. The father of the Hollywood film industry was Cecil DeMille. He has been shoot the first western movie in here.

The Walk of Fame is the most famous street in Hollywood. There are a lot of stars in the sidewalks from the Hollywood Boulevard to Vine Street.

The „LAND” from sign was removed. Since 1949 we can read it „HOLLYWOOD”.

In the 1970’s the sign was in really poor condition, and it restored in 1978.

In 2010 a buisniessman Christian Bay from BayArch wanted to buy the sign and he wanted to rebuilt it in a form of a Hotel . Altough his plan failed, nobody knows what will be the future…
