COMMISSION DIRECTIVE
To all licensees and registrants:
On New Year’s Eve, street access will be restricted in Manhattan, Times Square, and connecting streets from 59th Street to 38th Street between 8th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas to all motor vehicles, including trade waste collection vehicles. The street closures will remain in effect from Monday, December 31, 2018 through the morning of Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
All licensees and registrants are hereby directed to complete waste collection and remove
all containers in the affected areas before 6:00 a.m. on December 31, 2018. Collection may resume at 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2019. Moreover, all licensees and registrants must notify all customers along the event route that no waste may be placed on the curbside between 6:00 a.m. December 31, 2018 through 6:00 a.m. January 1, 2019.
Commission enforcement agents will be on the event route to ensure compliance with this
Directive. A map of the New Year’s Eve route showing the affected roadways is annexed hereto, and is available on the BIC website and at: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/new-years-eve-celebration2018-embmap.pdf.
Please be aware that the City’s Department of Transportation (“DOT”) issued a holiday
construction embargo along the event route from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, December 21 through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. DOT will strictly enforce this embargo and violators are subject to be summonsed. Failure to comply with this Directive may result in administrative penalties and/or fines up
to $10,000. See 17 RCNY 1-09. Failure to comply with this Directive may also affect your company’s licensing or registration status before BIC. Sincerely,
