team notes• The Citadel earned its second straight Southern Conference championship and the conference's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs, marking the first time in program history with back-to-back conference titles and the first time the Bulldogs made consecutive playoff appearances.• The Citadel tied the Southern Conference record with eight wins, a feat accomplished only six times before, and finished unbeaten in conference play for the first time in program history.• The Citadel was the No. 6 seed for the FCS Playoffs, earning a national seed for the first time under the current playoff format and the second time in program history.• Three Bulldogs earned SoCon individual awards as Brent Thompson was voted Coach of the Year by the coaches and media, Kailik Williams was the media's Defensive Player of the Year and Isaiah Pinson won the Jacobs Blocking Award voted on by the coaches.• The Bulldogs won their first 10 games, surpassing the 1992 team's 6-0 start to register the best start to a season in program history.• The Citadel broke the program record for most consecutive wins with 10, bettering the eight-game winning streak from 1991-92.• The Bulldogs broke the school's single-season record for road wins with six.• Brent Thompson broke The Citadel’s record for most wins by a first-year head coach, blasting past the previous record of six that had stood since 1916.• Brent Thompson became the fifth different head coach and second first-year coach to win eight SoCon games in one season.• The Citadel has been ranked for 19 straight weeks, the longest streak in program history.• The Citadel has been ranked in the top 10 for 11 straight weeks, its longest stretch inside the top 10 since 13 weeks, including four at No. 1, in 1992.• The Bulldogs' all-time record when ranked is now 31-19, including 29-15 against FCS opponents, and 16-6 when ranked in the top 10.• The Bulldogs ranked 1st in FCS in rushing for the 3rd time in program history and 1st time since 1994 and ranked in the top 2 in the nation for the third straight year.• The Bulldogs rushed for 500 yards in back-to-back games for the first time in school history, totaling 559 yards at North Greenville one week after rushing for 513 yards at Western Carolina.• The Bulldogs recorded five of the top-19 rushing totals in FCS this season with their 559 yards at North Greenville ranking 2nd, 513 yards at Western Carolina ranking 6th, 463 yards vs. Samford tied for 9th, 427 yards vs. ETSU ranking 16th and 419 yards at Gardner-Webb ranking 19th.• The Citadel’s 8.0 sacks at Western Carolina were the most by a Southern Conference team this season and tied for 2nd-highest in a game in FCS.• The Bulldogs held four opponents to under .167 on 3rd-down, including holding Western Carolina to 0-for-8 and North Carolina to 1-for-8.

Quarterbacks• Dominique Allen scored a team-high seven rushing touchdowns in 2016.• Dominique Allen registered a career-high 11 completions vs. Wofford in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.• Dominique Allen passed for a career-high 133 yards at VMI and rushed for 113 for his third 100-yard game of 2016.• Jordan Black registered a career-high 86 rushing yards in one half of play in the win vs. ETSU.• Dominique Allen rushed for a season-high 135 yards and a career-high-tying two touchdowns vs. No. 5 Chattanooga.• Dominique Allen rushed for 108 yards at Gardner-Webb and scored the game-winning touchdown for the second straight week when he found the end zone from one yard out with 2:51 to play for a 28-24 lead.• Dominique Allen made his 2016 debut in the 19-14 win vs. Furman. Allen scored the game-winning touchdown on a one-yard rush with 2:13 remaining in the game and also was 3-of-3 passing for 100 yards in the contest, including 2-of-2 for 50 yards on the game-winning drive.• Jordan Black made his collegiate debut and first career start in the season-opening win at Mercer. Black rushed 11 times for 25 yards and was 6-of-9 passing for 79 yards, including 3-of-3 on third down.• Jordan Black started the Bulldogs’ 19-14 win vs. Furman and 31-24 win at Gardner-Webb. He scored the first two touchdowns of his collegiate career at Furman, plunging over the goal line from one yard each time. He tied the game 7-7 with 5:05 remaining in the 1st quarter and gave The Citadel its first lead of the game with 4:04 left in the 2nd quarter. Black finished the game with 41 rushing yards.

Running backs• Tyler Renew was named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after one of the best rushing performances in conference history. He finished the win vs. No. 20 Samford with a career-high 285 rushing yards, the 7th-highest single-game total in SoCon history and the 3rd-best single-game rushing total in FCS in 2016, and a career-high three touchdowns on a career-high 45 carries. His touchdown total tied for the most in the SoCon and 18th in FCS this season.• Tyler Renew produced the first 200-yard rushing performance by a Bulldog since 2013 with 285 yards vs. Samford.• Cam Jackson currently holds The Citadel's record for career average yards per carry. Jackson has rushed for 1,948 yards on 243 carries for an average of 8.02 yards per rush.• Tyler Renew ranks 5th on the program’s all-time list with 2,828 career rushing yards.• Including quarterback Dominique Allen, the Bulldogs boasted four of the top-8 rushers in the Southern Conference. Tyler Renew was 4th, Cam Jackson ranked 5th, Reggie Williams was 6th and Allen was 8th.• Tyler Renew produced the 15th 1,000-yard rushing season in program history in 2016, and his 1,096 yards on the ground ranked him 7th on The Citadel's single-season list.• Grant Drakeford rushed for a career-high 73 yards and his first collegiate touchdown at North Carolina.• Jonathan Dorogy rushed for a career-high 51 yards and added his second career touchdown at VMI.• Cam Jackson rushed for 100 yards and recorded a career-high 58 receiving yards on three catches vs. Samford.• Cam Jackson rushed for a season-high 124 yards and a career-high-tying two touchdowns on only seven carries in the win vs. ETSU• Cam Jackson completed a 75-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Renew in the 37-14 win at Western Carolina that was the Bulldogs’ longest completion since 2008 and is tied for the 11th-longest pass play in program history.• Cam Jackson accounted for a career-high 160 yards of total offense in the win at Western Carolina. He rushed for a then-season-high 85 yards and completed a career-long 75-yard pass for his first collegiate passing touchdown.• Rod Johnson scored a career-high three touchdowns and rushed for a then-career-high 69 yards on only six carries at Western Carolina. His three touchdowns tied for the highest single-game total in the Southern Conference and for 18th in FCS in 2016.• Reggie Williams recorded back-to-back career-high rushing totals by earning the first 100-yard rushing game of his career with 112 yards at Gardner-Webb before topping that with 133 yards at Western Carolina.• Tyler Renew was named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after he led all SoCon rushers in week one with 146 yards in the Bulldogs’ 24-23 win at Mercer, including a career-long rush of 70 yards for a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage to give The Citadel a 7-0 lead 39 seconds into the game. He also added one reception for 15 yards turning a 2nd-and-17 into 3rd-and-2 on the Bulldogs’ drive for the game-winning field goal in the 4th quarter. His 161 all-purpose yards ranked 2nd in the SoCon in week one.


offensive line• Isaiah Pinson was voted the Southern Conference Jacobs Blocking Award winner by the conference's coaches. Pinson became the second Bulldog to earn the award and first since 2012. Pinson and fellow tackle Nick Jeffreys earned first-team All-SoCon honors from both the coaches and media, and guard Kyle Weaver was voted second-team by both.• Since the beginning of the 2014 season, the Bulldogs’ offensive line has been one of the most efficient in the country. The Citadel offense has produced 37 100-yard rushing performances in that span, including a school-record 14 in 2015.• Isaiah Pinson and Kyle Weaver each started 37 consecutive games for the Bulldogs, and Ryan Bednar had 28 career starts. Nick Jeffreys made 14 starts in his career, Tyler Davis 12 starts and Drew McEntyre four starts.

Wide receivers• Rudder Brown made a career-high four receptions and Jorian Jordan added a career-best three catches vs. Wofford in the second round of the FCS Playoffs.• Rudder Brown recorded a career-high 86 receiving yards, including a career-long 70 yarder, at VMI.• DeAndre Schoultz made a career-high three catches for a career-best 39 receiving yards at VMI.• Jorian Jordan recorded a career-high 43 receiving yards and his second career receiving touchdown in the win vs. ETSU.• Josh LeBlanc made a career-high two catches in the victory vs. ETSU.• DeAndre Schoultz made a career-long 29-yard reception vs. Furman to convert a 3rd-and-7 and extend The Citadel’s game-winning touchdown drive in the 4th quarter.• Josh LeBlanc made a 50-yard catch on a tipped ball in the 4th quarter vs. Furman for his first career catch.
