Little SuperHeroes of FCC WOW! ZAP! BOOM! POP! ZING! Bang! We had a power filled morning this past Saturday with 12 SuperHeroes. We leaped from tall buildings. We broke boards with our bare hands. We busted through brick walls. We broke through chains. We ran an obstacle course. Showed our strength through other activities. Refueled with Powerade & donuts.

A husband and wife from California were traveling through Texas. They saw a tornado coming and, of course they were afraid. The husband pulled the car off to the side of the road and stopped. The couple got out and crouched beside it. The twister was moving directly toward them but, at the last second, veered off across a field, then hit and totally demolished a small wooden house. The man and woman, still shaking with fright, got up and ran toward the house which now consisted of little more than kindling wood and a hole in the ground. They looked down into the hole and saw an old man holding on for dear life to a piece of

timber, his eyes tightly closed. “Hey down there, are you all right?” the woman called down to him. The old man opened his eyes, looked around cautiously and said, “I guess so.” “Was there anyone else with you?” the woman asked. The old man replied, “Just me and God, and we were having an urgent conversation.” When we read, in Mark’s Gospel, about the events of Jesus’ ministry, we cannot help but notice what demanding days it must have been for Him: to call the first Disciples and begin to explain to them what He was about; to heal the many sick people who came to Him for help; to cause such a sensation that crowds of people were pressing in on Him with their needs and their demands; to try to teach and preach to the people about the Kingdom of God. Clearly, it was a hectic day for Jesus. And, yet, in one of the most revealing, most striking verses in the entire Gospel, Mark writes: “Rising early the next morning, Jesus went off to a lonely place . . . there He was absorbed in prayer”. Jesus needed prayer at the end of a busy day and before another one began. Before He chose the disciples, Jesus needed to be alone at prayer. On the Mount of Transfiguration, where He had to make a very important decision about His ministry, Jesus needed to be alone at prayer. In the upper-room with His disciples, on the last night of His life, Jesus needed to be at prayer. In the Garden of Gethsemane and on the Cross, from the first day of His ministry to the last, Jesus needed to be at prayer. We know that prayer is important, but many times we go through the motions of praying and nothing important seems to happen. Then we tend to get discouraged or we give it up altogether. How fortunate we are to have Jesus as our model and our teacher! We don’t have to wait for a tornado to strike in order to discover that engaging in conversation with God is the source of our hope and our fulfillment. In loving partnership,

Easter Eggstravaganza 2018

We are in need of stuffings for Eggs!

Two weeks from this coming Saturday, will be our 8th Easter Eggstravaganza at Hill Park. This special gift to the community has grown and flourished over the past 8 years.

We are in great need of stuffings for the EGGS! Out of 25,000 eggs we still have approximately 13,000 eggs that need to be filled!

There are 2 ways you can help: 1. Come to the church and get a tub (or 2) of eggs, take them home and stuff them sitting in your favorite chair. 2.Donate items to be put in eggs – candy - anything that will not melt – items from Oriental Trading.

For more information please contact Paula or call the church office.

Ladies Night Out – March 22 – 6pm You don’t want to miss it! Back by popular demand, Heather Shoop-York will be doing another one of her amazing canvas paintings with us. The cost is $15 and you must RSVP by Tuesday, March 20, by calling the church office. Bring your favorite finger food to share! Child care is provided. It will be another great evening of fun, fellowship and lots of laughter.
