The Catholic Community of St. Barnabas September 15, 2019
Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners,
I really enjoyed last weekend’s Grandparents celebration. It allowed me to go down
memory lane. I left out some legendary tales but who knows how truthful they were. It
was so great meeting these important people in your lives. They are not shy about
introducing themselves or bragging about their family.
If you read the bulletin to the end you will see the weekly financial updates. The
numbers speak for themselves. As of September 15th, we are under budget by
$47,000. This amount is becoming real money and a concern. Now that summer has come to an end,
welcome back to those of you who have been away for many summer Sunday’s. As you know, our Sunday
Offertory pays the bills and supports our various ministries. We need your help.
In order to catch up we will have an extra collection the weekend of Fall Fest September 28-29th. Special
envelopes will be provided. Your thoughtful consideration is appreciated.
Fall Fest is truly a parish celebration please mark your calendar for the 28th. It is always a grand time. We
will also dedicate our Memorial Garden at the conclusion of the liturgy. A space dedicated to our young
ones who have gone to Heaven way too soon. This area will truly be Holy Ground. God Bless,
7’S PERSPECTIVE
The Second Collection for Seminarian Education will be next week Sept. 22. Please be generous.

New Eucharistic Minister Training Saturday, September 21, 2019
St. Barnabas Church Hall
9:00am-12:30 pm
Anyone interested in serving the faith community of St. Barnabas as a Eucharistic Minister is invited to attend Initial
Training for New Eucharistic Ministers. This one session training program includes prayer, reflection and praxis where
participants will explore what it means to be an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist in the 21st century. Training to
cover the specifics of being a Minister of the Eucharist at our parish will be included.
To register for the training, please contact:
Kitty Ryan at 773-779-1166 ext. 226
MEMORIAL GARDEN A memorial garden has been installed on the south side of the church, dedicated to the
memory of St. Barnabas children who have gone to heaven before us. A statue has been
ordered and is in the process of being made - especially for St. Barnabas. In addition, a
plaque has been installed to accompany the statue. This garden will be dedicated at the
upcoming Fall Festival liturgy on Saturday, September 28th. We hope all who have lost
a child can join us as we dedicate this sacred space.
The memory of these children from our parish will forever be in our hearts. This garden
will be a visual reminder of their memory and provide a space for all to pray.
