Nari.

My name is Nari . I am running to school. All the boys go to school in the morning. There are books and pencils at the school. There are toy trucks at the school.

Minala.

M y name is Minala . I am walking to school. All the girls go to school in the morning. The re are tables and chairs at the school. The re are showers at the school.

Shower Time.

The boys and girls are at school. The teacher says, £C Good morning." Nari says, " Good morning." " It is shower time," says the teacher. u Here are the towels and soap." The boys go to the showers. They splash in the water.

The boys get out of the showers. cc This is my. shir t / ' says Nari. " N o , that is my shi r t / ' says Tom. " Y o u r shirt is under your trousers." The boys put on the shirts and trousers. " C o m e , " says the teacher. " It is time for school." " C o m e on, T o m , " says Nari. " I t is time for school."

The girls are at the showers. Minala has a yellow towel. Jorna is under the shower. " Quickly, Jorna," says Minala. " It is time for school." " I cannot see the towel," says Jorna. " Here it is," says Minala. " Good," says Jorna. It is a dry towel."

Minala puts on her red dress. Jorna puts on her blue dress. They give the towels to the teacher. He has six big towels. " Come quickly," says the teacher. " T h e boys are in the schoolroom." The girls go into the schoolroom.

In School. The teacher says, cc Sit on your chair, Nari. Sit at your table, Tom. This is your book and this is your pencil, Nari. Here are your book and pencil, Tom. Nari, write your name on your book."

T h e teacher says, " B o y s , write four names in your books. Write baby, brolga, bush and ball" Th e n the teacher says, " T o m , you draw a kangaroo. Nari , you draw a goanna." " D r a w i n g is g o o d / ' says Nari. " Y e s / ' says T o m . " S e e my funny kanga roo / '

Minala is sitting at her table. Jorna is sitting on her chair. The teacher says, c cHere are two big books and six pencils. The pencils are red, blue, yellow, green, black and white. Minala, you draw a red dilly bag. Jorna, you draw a yellow digging stick. Then we will sing."

The boys and girls sing: " T h i s is the way I comb my hair, I comb my hair, I comb my hair. This is the way I comb my hair, when I go to school in the morning."

A Box of Toys. T h e teacher has a box of toys. T h e girls and boys put the toys on the table. " T h e r e are three pigs, two goats, a car and a truck on the table / ' says Minala. T h e teacher says, " P u t the pigs and goats here, Minala. Nari, put the truck in the shed.

Jorna, put the car near the house." Nari says, " C a n I play with the toy ho r se s?" " Y e s / ' says the teacher. " T h e r e are ten in the big box." " N o / ' says Nari. " T h e y are not in the box." C(ATC they in the little b o x ? " says the teacher. C fYes," says Nari. " I can see eight." " I have two," says Tom. " G o o d , " says Nari. " C o m e and play."

A Dog in School. " O h ! " says the teacher. " T h e r e is a dog in the school. Is he your dog, N a r i ? " " N o , he is not my dog," says Nari. " I s he your dog, Mina la?" says the teacher. " N o , he is not my dog," says Minala.

The dog runs to Tom. " I s he your dog, T o m ? " says the teacher. ccYes, he is my dog," says Tom. " P u t him out, T o m , " says the teacher. c c He has no book and no pencil. He cannot write."

A Ball Game. T h e girls play with the big ball. Jorna throws the ball to Minala. T h e n Minala throws the ball. T h e girls run after the ball. They jump to get it. Betty gets the ball. She throws it to the goal.

Football. T h e boys play football at school. T o m kicks the ball. The boys run after it. Nar i gets the football. Jack is near Nari . Nari falls near the goal. Jack kicks the ball into the goal.

The Tea-set. The teacher has a toy tea-set. It has six yellow cups. The tea-pot is blue and yellow. The six plates are yellow and the milk jug is blue. The girls play with the tea-set.

Jorna puts the tea cups on the table. Minala makes the tea for the girls. She puts tea in the tea-pot. T h e n she puts hot water in the tea-pot. Jorna says, cc Come to tea. Come quickly girls, the tea is hot."

Lunch Time. C£ It is lunch t ime," says Minala. " N o , it is not lunch t ime," says Nari. " W e will play a g a m e / ' says Minala. f f W e will say it is lunch time. W e have the cups and plates." Jorna says, c cNari , here is a plate. It has meat and potatoes on it." T h e little boys and girls have cups of milk. " S e e , " says Nari , f CI am eating all my meat and potatoes."

Washing the Plates. The girls wash the plates and

cups in hot water.

There is soap in the water.

Minala puts the plates on the table.

Jorna has a tea towel.

She puts the dry plates in a box.

The Wheelbarrow.

The boys play with the wheelbarrow.

Nari says, "Ge t in, Frank.

I will give you a ride to the fence."

Nari gives Frank a ride.

Then Frank gives Nari a ride to the tree.

" C a n I have a r i de? " says Tom.

"Yes , " says Nari. "S i t in the wheelbarrow."

Nari and F rank give T o m a ride. " G o o d / ' says Tom. " I will give you and Frank a r ide." They sit in the wheelbarrow. Tom runs quickly. The boys fall out on to the sand. They all laugh and laugh.

Story Time. In school the boys and girls have story time.

This is my story," says Minala. There are nine big boys and

seven big girls at our school. We draw birds, eggs, frogs and yams. I can draw an emu and a wren. Nari can draw a goanna climbing a tree.
