Worldly Love and Materialism1. The love of the world is the root of all evils.
2. Wealth properly employed is a blessing; and a man may lawfully
endeavour to increase it by honest means.
Hazrat Fatima-ul-Zahra (s.a)1.Praise and Eulogy is for Allah for the blessing and bounties which Hehas bestowed. And thanks to Him upon what He revaluated (to His
creatures) And Praise is for Him upon the common boons and blessings
which He bestowed upon His representative of God without their request
and upon the comprehensive and complete blessings which He granted to
all and sundry and gave it to us, consequently. Those graces and favours
which are uncountable. And are irredeemable and uncompressible due to
their plentiful ness of number, and the imagination of their end is out of the
reach of human mind. He invited the servant to thankfulness for the sake
of the consecutive and continuous enhancement of blessings. And opened
the door of eulogy and Praise (of Allah) upon them so that He may make
his favours and beneficences great and plentiful for them.
2.I testify that there is no Deity (Lord) except the sole and matchless Allah. And the rectification of the singleness of Allah is a word that Allah has
declared sincerely (as) its reality, and made the hearts, the centre of its
contact and union. And has made the specifications and research of the
oneness of Allahs station obvious & evident in the light of meditation.
The Allah who cant be seen by the eyes & tongues are unable & baffled to
describe His virtues & attributes, & the intelligence & apprehension of
man is helpless and destitute from the imagination of his how ness.
3.Allah made all the beings without previous matter and sample and shapeand pattern. And made them wear the dress of life by His main and
mights and created them according to His Devine will and Intention short
of it that He might has needed their creation or has wished any benefit for
Himself from their shaping and sketching except this that he wanted to
give a proof of His wisdom and make the people (creations) aware about
His obedience and submission and invited them to his servitude and
worship and made His Invitation grand and ostentatious.
4.Allah fixed the reward for His obedience and torment for His

insubordination and disobedience so that He may restrain His
representative of Allah from His wrath and fury and lead them to His
paradise.
5.And I testify that my father Mohammad (s.a.w) is the apostle and theservant of Allah. And Allah selected and chose him before appointing him
at the post of Prophet Hood. And He named him before choosing and
selecting him. And chose him before envying and delegating him. Then all
the creations were hidden and covered in the covers of unseen and were
hidden amid the screen and curtain of fear and fright and stayed near the
last and final border of non entity (nothingness). Allah was aware of and
knew the end of matters and because of His encompassing the incidents of
times and ages and His knowledge of the predestined. Allah appointed him(as apostle) so that he may complete and finalise His matter and
Implement His order and materialise His decreed and predestinations.
6.Allah saw nations and groups had various different sects in their religionand scattered and staying on the verge of the fires of differences, busy with
their idol worshipping. They denied Allah with all the signs and symbols of
Him. (Irfan) So Allah illuminated and ceased the darknesss through my
father Mohammad (s.a.w) and removed the darknesss from their hearts, removed (cured) the blindness of the eyes.
7.My father (Mohammad (s.a.w) stood up with (his) guidance among thepeople. And saved them from perversion and aberration, and turned their
blindness into enlightenment and guided them towards the firm religion.
And called (invited) them to the straight way.
8. You the representative of Allah of Allah, are the ones to maintain His
injunctions and prohibitions, and the carriers of His religion, and His
relegation, and the trustees of Allah upon your souls, and the propagators
of His religion among the other nations.
9. Oh the followers of Allah! (Beware) the real leader from Allah, is present
among you and the commitment has previously been made to you and this
exists and the prophet hood has been appointed for your guidance. That is
the speaking book of Allah the truthful Quran, and a beaming and
gleaming light, in which all the secrets and facts about the completion ofman and his prosperity have been exhibited and illuminated. It guides
from darkness towards light of guidance. Its

followers are the subject of envoy of others.
10. The book of Allah is the guide of its followers towards the pleasure of
Allah listening (carefully) to it, leads to the salvation. The enlightened and
conspicuous evidences and proofs of Allah can be obtained through it. And
(also the knowledge) of His interpreted intentions and fear invoking
constraining prohibitions. His sufficing testimonies and conspicuous
arguments, and desired virtues and allowed endowments and gifts and
obligatory Devine laws (Can be obtained from it).
11. Allah made the faith for you as purity from polytheism (& infidelity).
12. And (made) service the cause of your getting distant (purification) frompride (egoism).
13. And rendered alms for the purity of your soul and flour-ishment and
expansion of your sustenance.
14. And rendered fasting for the maintenance and firmness of your
sincerity.
15. & Allah set Hajj for the consolidation & reinforcement of the religion.
16. Allah executed and rendered justice for the sake of putting together
and harmonization of the hearts.
17. And (Allah set) the subordination and obedience of us (the household
of the Prophet (s.a.w)) for the security of society's system and our Imamate
as a safety from segregation and disunity).
18. And (Allah made) Jihad (holy war), the honour and glory for Islam and
abjectness and humbleness for the infidels and the hypocrites.
19. And (Allah rendered) patience as a help for getting reward.
20. And (Allah caused) commanding goodness & forbidding to do evil for
the amendment and correction of society & the common folks (public).
21. And (Allah made) the kindness to parents as a protectional (shield) to
His wrath and displeasure.

22. And Allah made joining and connecting with the kinship and
cognation, the cause of lengthening of life.
23. And Allah made law of retaliation (revenge for homicide) as the
security of blood (from being shed).
24. And Allah executed the vow performing as a medium for forgiveness.
25. And (Allah rendered) the correct use of weights measure (units) a
medium for stopping from selling less (than actual).
26. And (Allah rendered) prohibition from drinking wine the cause of
taking distance from contaminations (evils).
27. And Allah made the prohibition to accuse someone of adultery a
protection (shield) for avoiding (His) curse.
28. And (Allah made) refraining from theft for the sake of positive ness
and affirmation for modesty.
29. And Allah prohibited polytheism for the sake of (bringing about)sincerity in (His) adoration and worship.
30. Certainly, an apostle has come to you from among yourselves;
grievousness to him is youre falling into distress, excessively solicitous
respecting you; to the believers (he is) compassionate, merciful. So if you
assay and recognise him you will find he is my father not the father of your
women and the brother of my cousin, (Ali a.s) not that of your men. And
how nice a relation I have to him. So he propagated his prophetic(Mission). He always used to turn his face from the polytheists. And fought
against them till he beat them up. He would invite people towards Allah by
wisdom, and beautiful admonition. He broke the idols and scattered the
aggregation of polytheists in a way that they ran away (from the battle
fields), so that finally the hidden secret of oneness of Allah became
manifested by him. And he made the logic of religion reach the ears ((of the
people) and settled down the foam of the camels of Satan and turned the
slogan yelling of those devils silent. And downed the agents ofhypocrisyand mutual commitments of the infidels got dissolved till such time that,
you (people) spoke to a group of enlightened and modest men with the
words of oneness of Allah and sincerity.

31. You were on the edge of a fire ditch, and were a cup of drink and the
morsel of a greedy one and a firebrand of every hasty one and were being
trampled on (by other nations) and drank from the contaminated waters
gathered over in ditches and your energy (food) was (secured by) the leaves
of trees and desert grass. And for your abjectness and abasement you werealways afraid that those around you might abduct you in the winking of an
eye. So, Allah liberated you (of these misfortunes) through my father
Mohammed (s.a.w). In spite of it that he (s.a.w) was involved and at a war
against the intrepid and the hungry wolves of Arab and the stubborn
refractoriness of the people of the books (Jews and Christians). Whenever
his opponents would light the fire of war, Allah extinguished it to your
benefit.
32. Imam Hassan (a.s) said, 'on the Friday night I saw my mother Fatima
(s.a) standing in her arch of prayer. She was continuously kneeling and
performing prostration till the dawn broke. I would hear her pray for the
faithful men and women, but she did not at all pray for herself. I said, 'Oh
mother why did you not pray for yourself like you prayed for others? so
she replied, 'Oh my son, 1st thy neighbour & there after your own house.
33. The Prophet (s.a.w) said to Fatima (s.a) what is the thing which is ablessing for woman?' She said that, 'she must not see a man (stranger and
not intimate) and a man must not see her.'
34. One day a lady came to Fatima (s.a) said 'I have a weak old mother
who does not know a few problems about her service (prayers). She has
sent me towards you to question you (about them). Thus Fatima answered
her (questions), & the number of her queries reached to 10 & Fatima (s.a)
replied to all her questions. Then she (the woman got ashamed because of
the high number of her questions. And said, 'Oh daughter of the Prophet
(s.a.w), 'I do not put you to more inconvenience than this.' Fatima (s.a)
said, 'Ask me what you do not know. Have you ever seen a person who is
one day hired to carry a heavy thing to the roof top from ground for an
amount (equal to) a thousand Dinners (nearly a hundred thousand miscall
(unit of weight of gold) and he may feel himself tired.' She said 'No'.
Fatima (s.a) said, 'I have been hired by Allah to get a wages which if the
space between the earth and sky is filled up with pearls still (That wages)
would he more than it for each of the questions I may answer you. Therefore, I deserve it that I must not feel tired exhausted.'

35. Oh Allah! Belittle me in my eyes and glorify and magnify your station
to me. And inspire me (about) Your obedience and the practice which may
cause Your pleasure and the shunning and evading from things (matters)
which are the cause of Your wrath, oh the most merciful of all!
36. Oh Allah! Content me with the sustenance you have granted me. And
till such time that you keep me alive, hide me and make me sound and
prosperous. And forgive me and take pity upon me when I die. (During
death process). Oh Allah! Do not help me in something that you have not
predestined for me. And facilitate the achievement of that thing which you
have predestined for me.
37. Oh Allah! Bestow upon my parents and all those persons who haverights of their blessings and beneficences upon me, the best of your
rewards. Oh my Allah, spare me the leisure and respite for the object for
which you have created me. And do not let me be busy and involved
(absolutely) in my commitments. And do not torment me when I ask
forgiveness. And do not deprive me of what I yearn and question you for.
38. Underlying are the rhymes which Hazrat Zahra (s.a) recited upon the
mourning of Prophet's (s.a.w) demise. The person who smells the sweetfragrance of the grave of the Prophet (s.a.w) so what if he does not smell
any other fragrance for long times to come? Agonies and anguishes and
griefs poured upon me in such a way that had they poured upon days those
would have turned into nights. (Bleak, dark and bewilder).
39. The dust of sorrow covered the space of sky and the sun has faded and
the bright day turned bleak. The earth has become dark and gloomy after
the death of the Prophet (s.a.w) Woe! Alas! What the earth will have much
of Jolting upon being separated and parted from him (s.a.w). It is
meritorious and befitting that the east and west of the world may weep
upon the parting of Prophet (s.a.w) and the persons of muzzier tribe and
all of they rest of the Yemen tribes shed tears. And the great magnificent
mountain of the existence and the hidden and covered Kabah (House of
Allah) and its pillars should shed tears. Oh the terminator and finalise of
the (series of) prophets! The light of who is the source of blessing for the
worlds inhabitants, Be the salutation and blessings of Allah the defender of
Holy Quran upon you.
40. Following you (Prophet (s.a.w)) inequities (intrigues and revolts) took

shape and variant voices were raised so that if you were present and
supervising (things) all these differences and deviations would not have
taken place. You set off (on the journey of eternity) from among us and
now our condition is like the earth which becomes devoid of the beneficial
rains. And your nation upset the order and discipline of matters. So be awitness and do not let their matter get out of your sight.
Life of Hazrat Imam Ali (a.s)1. How wonderful is a man that speaks with fat, talks with a piece of flesh,
hears with a bone and breathes through a hole.
2. Meet people in such a manner that if you die they should weep for you
and if you live they should long for you.
3. When you gain power over your adversary pardon him by way of thanks
for being able to over-power him.
4. The most helpless of all men is he who cannot find a few brothers during
his age, but still more helpless is he who finds such a brother but loses him.
5. Amirul Momineen, peace be upon him, said: O' son of Adam when yousee that Allah is bestowing His favours on you while you are disobeying
Him, you should fear Him.
6. Keep walking in your sickness till you can.
7. Fear! Fear! By Allah, He has hidden your sins so much so as He has
forgiven.
8. The best riches are abandonment of desires.
9. Super numerate prayers (Mustahab Salat) cannot bring about nearness
to Allah if they hamper obligatory ones.
10. The tongue of the wise man is behind his heart and the heart of a fool is
behind his tongue.
11. Amirul Momineen (a.s) said to a companion during his sickness: Allah
may make your illness a means for writing off your sins, because there is
-

113
no reward for sickness but it erases sins and makes them fall like (dried)
leaves: Reward lies in saying by tongue and doing something with hands
and feet. Certainly Allah, the Glorified admits into Paradise by virtue of
truthfulness of intention and chastity of heart, whomever He wishes from
among His people.
12. Victory is by determination; determination is by revolving of thoughts
and thoughts are formed by guarding secrets.
13. With riches a strange land is homeland, while with destitution even
homeland is a strange land.
14. Contentment is wealth that does not diminish.
15. Wealth is the fountainhead of passions.
16. Whoever warns you is like one who gives you good tidings.
17. The tongue is like beast; if it is let loose, it would devour.
18. Woman is like a scorpion whose grip is sweet.
19. The people of the world are like travellers who are being carried while
they are asleep.
20 Dont feel ashamed for giving a little, because refusal is littler than that
21. The breath of a man is a step towards death.
22. It is related that when Zerar bin Zamma Zubabi went to Muawiya and
Muawiya enquired from him about Amirul Momineen (a.s), he said, I
stand witness that I have seen him on several occasions that night had
spread and he was standing in the niche (of the mosque) holding his beard,
groaning like a man bitten by snake and weeping as a grieved man, saying:
O' world, O' world. Get away from me. Why do you present yourself to
me? Or are you eager for me? You may not get that opportunity to impress
me. Deceive some other person. I have no concern with you. I havedivorced you thrice where after there is no restitution. Your life is short,

your importance is little and your liking is humble. Alas! The provision is
little, the way is long, the journey is far, extending
114
and the goal is hard to get to."
23. About a man who praised him much, although he did not admire him. I
am below what you express and above what you feel in your heart.
24. The survivors of a battle are large in number and have large progeny.
25. Whoever gives up saying "I do not know" meets destruction.
26. I love the opinion of an old man more than the determination of a
young man; or according to another version, more than the martyrdom of
a young man.
27. If a man behaves properly in matters between himself & God, then
God keeps proper the maters between him & other people, & if a man
keeps proper his affairs of the next life then God keeps proper for him the
affairs of this world. Whoever is a preacher for him is protected by Allah.
28. Amirul Momineen (a.s) heard about a Kharijee that he says mid-nightprayer and recites Quran, then he (Amirul Momineen) said: Sleeping in
the state of firm belief is better than praying in the state of doubtfulness.
29. When you hear a tradition (Hadis) test it according to the criterion of
intelligence not that of mere hearing, because relaters of knowledge are
numerous but those who guard it are few.
30. Whoever loves us, members of the Prophet's family, should be preparedto face destitution.
31. It was said to Amirul Momineen (a.s) "How are you Amirul
Momineen?" and he replied: "How can he be whom life is driving towards
death, whose state of healthiness can change into sickness any moment and
who is to be caught (by death) from his place of safety?"
32. There are many people who are given time (by Allah) through gotreatment towards them, and many getting into deception because their
-

sinful activities are veiled (by Allah) and many who get enamoured by good
talk about themselves. And Allah does not try anyone as seriously as
He tries him whom He allows time (to remain sinful).
115
33. Two categories of persons will face ruin on account of me- he who loves
me with exaggeration and he who hates me with intensely.
34. The example of the world is like a serpent. It is soft in touch but its
inside is full of venom. An ignorant person who has fallen in deceit is
attracted towards it but a wise and intelligent man keeps on guard from it
35. What a difference there is between two kinds of actions- an act whose
pleasure passes away but it (ill) consequence remains and the act whose
hardship passes away but its reward stays.
36. Blessed be he who humbles himself, whose livelihood is pure, whose
habits are virtuous, who spends his savings (in the name of Allah ), who
prevents his tongue from speaking rot, who keeps people safe from his evil,
who is pleased with the (Prophets) Sunnah and who is unconnected with
innovation (in religion).
37. Guard against cold in its beginning (of the season) and welcome it
towards its end because it affects bodies in the same way as it affects the
plants. In the beginning it destroys them but in the end it gives them fresh
leaves.
38. When Amirul Momineen, (a.s) returned from Siffin and noticed the
graves outside Kufa, he said: O' residents of houses, which give a sense of
loneliness, of depopulated areas and gloomy graves? O' people of the dust,O' victims of strangeness, O' people of loneliness and O' people of
desolateness! You have gone ahead and preceded us while we are following
you and will meet you. The houses (you left) have been inhabited by
others; the wives (you left) have been married by others; the properties
have been distributed (among heirs). This is the news about those around
us; what is the news about things around you?
39. Loving one another is half wisdom.
40. Grief is half old age.

THE PLACE OF WORSHIPOn the Day of Judgment, the mosque will complain about those people
who offered Salaat but not in the Mosque. The place means the spot where
one stands to say prayers. The place where one performs Sajdah should be
clean Following are some other requirements for The Place of Worship.

(a.s). (Touheed), (Adl), (Nabuwwat), (Imamat) and (Qiyamat) those who
believe in these 5 Articles are called Shia Muslims.

Bani Hashim. They were the descendants of Hazrat Ibrahim through his
son Hazrat Ismail. The Arabs respected & loved them for their generosity
goodness & bravery. Abdul Muttalib was the chieftain of Bani Hashim &
117
he was also the guardian of the Kaaba. Among his ten sons, Abdullah was
the father of the Holy Prophet & Abu Talib (a.s) was the father of HolyImam Ali (a.s).
BIRTH:-Ali (a.s) was born in the House of Allah, the Kaaba, on 13thRajab, 23 yrs. before Hijri. On the death of Abdul Muttalib (a.s), Abu
Talib (a.s) was appointed the guardian of Muhammad & was charged with
the responsibility of bringing him up. Muhammad & Ali (a.s) grew up in
the same house. The Prophet was considerably older & he looked after &
trained Ali (a.s) with great Love & Care. The Apostle of Allah said that he& Ali (a.s) were two pieces of the same Noor.
BROUGHT-UP: The infant Ali (a.s) passed very happy days in the laps ofhis mother Fatima Bint-e-Asad, father Abu Talib (a.s) & Cousin
Muhammad (s.a.w). Under Love, care & happiness, Ali (a.s) flowered into
a handsome, eloquent, strong & courageous young boy of 13. At this time
Muhammad (s.a.w) started preaching Islam. (By birth) Naturally Ali (a.s)
was the first to declare his belief in Allah & his Apostle.
SUCCESSOR & CALIPH: - According to the Holy Quran, Prophets &
Apostolic Imams are chosen by Allah & not elected, selected, nominated or
appointed by men. When under divine instructions the prophet invited 40
Arab chieftains & delivered the message of Islam, he proclaimed Ali (a.s)
his successor & Caliph. When the Holy Prophet of Islam was returning to
Medina after his last pilgrimage to Mecca in 11 A.H., he, under Divine
instructions, stopped at Gadir-e-Khum & in the midst of 1,24,000 Muslims,he officially & finally proclaimed Ali (a.s) his Successor & Caliph.
PERSECUTION HIJRAT:-In Mecca life for the believers & theApostle became unbearable, owing to the cruelties & persecution of the
Kafir; so the Holy Prophet decided to migrate to Medina. On the night of
his departure from Mecca, the Prophet asked Ali (a.s) to sleep in his place
on his bed, so he could leave for Medina without the Kafir having any
knowledge of his absence. Though Ali (a.s) knew that the house wassurrendered with 40 armed enemies, he dauntlessly slept the whole night &
said that he had never slept better. The Holy Prophet reached Medina
safely & soon after, Ali (a.s) joined the Apostle at Medina.

WARRIOR: -Ali (a.s) executed every order, command & injunction ofthe Holy Quran & the Apostle, as it should be done & none was his equal.

BADR: -The idolaters of Mecca would not allow Islam to grow & spreadin peace. Abu Sufiyan, the chieftain of the Omayya tribe, a bitter enemy of
the Holy Prophet & Islam marched to Medina at the head of 1000 well-
armed & trained fighters with the intention of killing the Apostle of Allah
& the believers. The Holy Prophet collected his small band of 313 faithful
followers. The defence was made up of ill-equipped fighters, including
young boys & old men. Instead of waiting for the attackers, the prophet
decided to meet them at a little distance from Medina at a place called
Badr. The fighting was fast & furious & the Kafir were defeated. Ali (a.s)
made a name for himself for his bravery. It was his sword that routed the
enemy.
OHAD: - Next year Abu Sufiyan came again with 10,000 men. TheProphet met him at Ohad with a 1000 believers who were posted at various
strategic places of defence. A few Muslims were given specific instructions
not to leave. Their position, no matter what happened. The battle began &
with the help of Allah, the believers inflicted heavy losses on the enemy,
who began to flee. In spite of the strict instructions of the Holy Prophet, a
few Muslims deserted their post & ran after the enemy to loot. Khalid-bin-
Walid, one of the officers of Abu-Sufiyan, seeing the position occupied by
Muslims undefended, attacked the Believers. Many believers were killed &
a winning fight began to become a losing one. Ali (a.s) came to the rescue &beat off the attack. Hamza, the brave uncle of the Apostle was killed in
action. After Hamza, Ali (a.s) was the flag bearer of Islam. Ali (a.s) was the
only commander of the Holy Prophet during his life & no other person was
given the command of the Prophet's armies in the battles in which the Holy
Prophet was himself taking part. The Last
Flag bearer of the Prophet was Abbas (a.s) son of Ali (a.s) in Kerbala.
KHANDAK: - The battle of Khandak took place because Abu Sufiyancollected many infidel tribes against the Prophet & invaded Medina. To
make Medina safe the Prophet ordered a trench (Khandak) to be dug
around a part of the city & therefore this battle is called the battle of

Khandak. In this battle the enemy warrior Amar challenged the Muslims
to single combat. All the companions of the Prophet were present, yet none
stirred except Ali (a.s). But Muhammad restrained him. The challenge was
repeated for the second time; even then no one moved to accept it but Ali
(a.s). Again the Apostle stopped him. When they were challenged for thethird time & again there was a silence from all & again Ali (a.s) offered to
face Amar, the prophet gave him the permission. The Lion of Allah jumped
out of the Khandak & accepted the challenge. The Holy Prophet of Islam
said;
"Total Iman (Faith) is now going to fight total Kufer (Disbelieve) & one
stroke of Ali (a.s)'s sword is better than all the prayers & worship of those
in heaven & earth."
Ali (a.s) with one stroke of the Zulfikar killed Amar. In the general
encounter the enemy was defeated too.
KHAIBAR: - The Jews of Khaiber went back on their agreement withThe Prophet & started harassing & killing the Muslims. An army led by
the Apostle surrounded the fortresses of Khaiber. Ali (a.s) was at Medina
because of pain in his eyes. For many days the Muslims attacked the fort
but were unsuccessful. After some days the Holy Prophet declared,
"Tomorrow, I will give the flag (ALAM) to one who will not run away. He
will attack repeatedly & Allot will crown him with victory. Allah & the
Apostle are his friends & he is their friend."
Next morning soon after prayers, a horseman came galloping, a cloud of
dust flying behind him. It was Ali (a.s) & when he dismounted,
Mohammad asked him about his eyes. When Ali (a.s) said that they were
still paining, the Prophet applied his saliva. The pain vanished & Ali (a.s)
said that his vision had never better. Muhammad (s.a.w) gave the Flag of
Islam to Ali (a.s) & prayed for him. Ali (a.s) dauntlessly marched to the
fort. Murhab, the brave enemy warrior, came out to meet Ali (a.s) in single
combat. According to the Arab custom, Murhab talked of his deeds of
bravery & said that his mother called him Murhab (Frightful) Ali (a.s)
retorted that his mother called him Hayder (Furious Lion). Ali (a.s) Cut
Murhab into two pieces & the fort of Khaiber was conquered by Yadullah
(Ali (a.s)).
STATESMAN: - At Houdaibiya, Ali (a.s) was asked by the Holy

Prophet to draft & write the peace treaty. On the occasion of Mobahila
with Christians of Najaran, the Holy Prophet asked Ali (a.s) to give them
the terms of settlement. Ali (a.s) is the founder of the land revenue system
which protected the rights of the tillers of the soil. He gave the world this
system, for it was unknown before. Ali (a.s) is the father of the ArabicGrammar. He gave the language its grammar. Sura-e-Barat had to be
recited to the people of Mecca. Abu Baker offered to do so & started on his
way. The angel jibraeel came with a message of Allah asking the Prophet to
recall Abu Baker & to go himself or to send a person like him. As the Holy
Prophet could not go he decided to send Ali (a.s), & Ali (a.s) represented
the Holy Prophet to carry this Surah to Quraysh.
PRINCE OF CHARITY GIVERS: -Once Ali (a.s) was returning froma journey with a string of camels fully laden with goods. On the way a
beggar asked for a piece of bread. Ali (a.s) ordered his beloved slave
Qambar to give some bread to the beggar. Qambar started searching for
bread. After a few moments Ali (a.s) asked about the delay. Qambar said,
"I am looking for the bread." Ali (a.s) said, "Give the bagger the camel
which carries the food." After a while Ali (a.s) again inquired about the
delay. Qambar replied, "I am searching for the camel carrying the food."
"Give the whole caravan, Ali (a.s) ordered. Qambar hurriedly jumped offfrom the camel & handed the reins of the whole caravan to the fortunate
beggar. Ali (a.s) smiled at the agility of Qambar & asked him, "Why did
you jump so quickly & hand over the reins in such haste?" Qambar
replied, Master, you are in such a mood that on account of a little delay,
you gave away the whole caravan. I was afraid if there was some more
delay, you might give me away also with the caravan. You will get a
thousand slaves like me, but where will I get a master like you?" Once a
time, after a day's hard work, Ali (a.s) was sitting under a tree & eating his
barley bread & salt. A passing beggar asked him for food. Ali (a.s) readily
offered to share what he was eating & gave the beggar a piece of bread.
The old beggar found it difficult to chew & complained that the bread was
too hard. Ali (a.s) informed the beggar that he would get good hot food if
he cared to go to Imam Hasan's house.
When the beggar arrived at the given address, he found that a banquet was
spread out & people were eating. Imam Hassan invited the beggar to join
them. He started eating & after a while he would eat one mouthful & putone mouthful in his bowl. Seeing this, Imam Hasan said, "Why are you
putting food in your bowl? Have your fill & then you can take some

more with you." The beggar replied, "I am collecting some good food for a
man, who is eating dry barley bread & salt." Imam Hasan smiled & said,
"That man is Maula Ali (a.s) & this house ishis house.
MARRIAGE: - Under Divine instruction, the Apostle of Allah marriedhis beloved daughter Fatima to Ali (a.s). Among their children, Imam
Hasan, Imam Hussain, Hazrat Bibi Zainab & Hazrat Bibi Ume Kulsum
have left their marks on the history of the world. By Imam's other wife,
Ummul Banin, Allah gave him Hazrat Abbas who was so handsome that he
was fondly called Qamer-e-Bani Hashim & he personified loyalty &
bravery in the battle field of Kerbala.
WAFAT OF THE PROPHET: -During the last days of the month ofSafar, the Prophet of Islam was very ill. The Sahabas saw that the Apostle
would soon pass away. The Arab quickly collected in the Sakifa & the
gathering appointed Abu Baker as the Caliph in 11 A.D. Bani Hashim &
the believers could not join the meetings at the Sakifa, as they would not
leave their ailing Prophet, who passed away on 28th Safar 11 A.H. whilst
the meetings were going on the Bani Hashim & the believers had to
perform their sacred duty of burying the Apostle of Allah. The reason for
this astounding happening was the desire to rule the state. In course ofabout 80 battles, there was not a tribe or family whose members were not
killed by Ali (a.s) in Jihad, though Allah & His Apostle had chosen Ali (a.s)
as the successor & Caliph. When Abu Baker became a caliph he said that
now he was charged with the cares of the Government, though he was not
the best among them. As death approached him, he nominated Omer as his
successor & caliph in 13 A.H. For about 10 yrs., Omer was the Caliph &
before his death a committee of six, selected Osman of the tribe of Bani
Omayya as the third caliph in 23 A.H. Osman was killed in 35 A.H. as aresult of intrigue by Merwan, his chief minister & adviser. From Bani
Omayya's tribe, Muawiya, the son of Abu Sufiyan, was appointed the
Governor of Syria & he was responsible for the murders of Ali (a.s) &
Imam Hasan (a.s). Muawyya's son yazid butchered Imam Hussain, the
grandson of the Holy Prophet at Kerbala.
Imam Ali (a.s):- Among sufferings & chaos, the Muslims clamoured to
elect Ali (a.s) as the successor of the Holy Prophet and Caliph of Allah.Looking to the condition of the society, how everyone was running after the
world, Ali (a.s) at first refused to accept the responsibility of the state, but
on the third day he at last agreed to take up the charge & to accept
