President’s Message
Greetings to all Badgers! Our January thaw seems
to have come and gone although I must say it is still
milder than last winter at this stage. Our meeting
this month (on the 14th) is as far into a month as a
regularly scheduled meeting can occur, so we should
all be prepared. Our show is really not all that far
off; we'll be bagging fish pond items next month. If
you have any suitable items to contribute now is the
time to get them out. There is a greater need this
year than usual. Hmm, maybe that means me,
too. See you at the Monroe library.
Regards,
Marv Hanner

From the Showchair – Teri Marché
One and a half months… That’s what we have until
the show. Things are coming together well, so far.
The major contracts, including the kitchen, are
signed and paid, advertising is underway, and
demonstrators and speakers are lined up. One glitch:
we have lost a dealer, Jeanine Mielecki, to a medical
emergency that will leave her unable to manage the
lifting and hauling. I have several others I can call for
replacements.
There is still one space left for the sales table. If
anyone is interested, pop me an email, but
remember that a table space obligates you to help
with show set-up and tear-down.
We have about 1/3 of the showcases claimed. We
need all of them filled! There are still 5 of the large
cases and 7 of the small cases yet to be claimed.
Puhleeze, pop an email to me and claim a
showcase!!!
I will have sign-up sheets for working at the show at
the next meeting. I need to have good commitments
for the entire two days for the front door, and for
the kid’s areas especially. I have reworked the show
layout to have all the kid’s activities in one area.
Help with the sales table is also essential. While I
know that Brian and Cindy Green will make it their
priority, they will need help and relief from time to
time.
I will have posters and extra flyers at the next two
meetings, but if you cannot get there, print out the
poster included in this newsletter, make copies, and
get them out in your area. We need to plaster the
area.
Finally, looking beyond this year’s show, I will be
resigning as showchair. I have had it for seven years
now, and that is enough. My problem is that it is
getting to be “old hat” and I see myself getting too
lackadaisical about it. The show needs fresh ideas.
I will happily be available to help anyone who is
willing to undertake this commitment. I will share
the computer program I currently use (developed by
Dave Zimmerman) which makes the paperwork very
easy. It includes a calendar if what to do when. I will
pass along all my contacts as well. I hope someone
will step up and give this a go.
