A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTERSEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER BY BUD OZARBY BUD OZAR
Jesus was worried about his disciples and he turned to prayer. No matter how much time we
spent trying to “guard and protect” our children, each day they become less dependent on us
and we must let go and let God. Prayer and parenting go together.

MAY: THE MONTH OF MARY Popular piety dedicates the month of May to the Blessed
Virgin Mary. Devotion to Mary deserves special attention here
in the United States
As the Mother of God, the Virgin Mary has a unique position
among the saints, indeed, among all creatures. She is exalted, yet still one of us.
Redeemed by reason of the merits of her Son and united to Him by a close and
indissoluble tie, she is endowed with the high office and dignity of being the
Mother of the Son of God, by which account she is also the beloved daughter of
the Father and the temple of the Holy Spirit. Because of this gift of sublime
grace she far surpasses all creatures, both in heaven and on earth. At the same
time, however, because she belongs to the offspring of Adam she is one with all
those who are to be saved. (Lumen Gentium, no. 53)

Next week our
diocese will take
up the Peter’s
Pence Collection,
which provides
Pope Francis with
the funds he
needs to carry
out his charitable works around the
world. The proceeds benefit the most
disadvantaged: victims of war, oppres-
sion, and disasters. Join our Holy Fa-
ther as a witness of charity to those
who are suffering.
