The main aim of the IQAC was to plan and decide to start new programmes so as to
empower women by offering skill based programmes so that they assume leadership and
provides a context of learning that enhances professionalism, humanism, humility and
responsibility. A PROPER Plan for starting 4 Year BA BeD Integrated Course was made
and hopefully the classes will start in July 2017.

CHINTAN and CONNECTIONS were the two new initiatives which would help in
catering to the Computer and English Speaking Skills of the poor and needy students.
Emphasis was made on the aim to provide Quality in Education so as to produce
responsible citizens with a critical bent of mind towards issues of public concern. For that
matter IQAC circulated the Annual Plan in the beginning of the year and all efforts were
made to implement the same.
New teachers were made aware of the aims and objectives of IQAC
Various meetings were arranged to discuss various issues concerning academics, co-
academics and infra-structural development. Whatever suggestions were made were
taken into consideration by the Management.
Ramps for differently-abled students were made.
New college gate was erected.
All the departments of the college were given a new facelift.
Library was equipped with latest software. Bar coding was initiated. New books
/Journals were added. NLIST Programme was also started in the Library.
White wash and paint was done as per usual practice.
New cabins were erected for the Office staff
Biometrics were installed for the attendance of the staff.
IQAC made a major contribution for the NAAC Peer team visit.
Youth Festival was hosted by the college.
Two training programmes were organized exclusively by the IQAC for quality in
education. .
Project of Vermiculture was initiated.
Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan was also started.
Extension lectures /Workshops/Seminars/Industrial visits were organized.
The teachers were motivated to make maximum use of multi-media.
IQAC, through the departments of NSS and NCC, provided an opportunity to the
students in the capacity of volunteers to venture out of their comfort zones and make a
difference to society. Inspired by this philosophy, endeavour was made to sensitize the
students to various social concerns through discussions, debates, talks, seminars,
workshops, music, awareness campaigns, short plays and confluences especially during
National days and Diwali Mela.
A qualified doctor visited the College three times a week and helped students with their
physiological, psychological and emotional problems.
The CA was elected to co-ordinate between the college and its students. From acting as
the students' voice and ensuring that each student gets the best out of their college
experience. The elected representatives of every class to make each event of SDP a grand
success. The CA helped in organising major events of the college like the Independence
Day Celebrations, Fresher’s, Orientation and Graduation parties.
Various Open Durbars were held to redress the grievances of the students.

1.4 Whether there is any revision/update of regulation or syllabi, if yes, mention their salient aspects.
The changes are generally made by the affiliating University. Various changes
in the syllabus has been proposed by the Panjab University.
The annual system was replaced by semester system in BA/B.Com/BCA/BBA II
year and the changes were made in the syllabus accordingly by the affiliating
university. 1.5 Any new Department/Centre introduced during the year. If yes, give details.
The programme in Cosmetology was started. The new labs were constructed for
the Department. Apart from the regular training the teachers and students are free
to avail the facilities on nominal charges. Efforts are made to train students from
outside college too, to make them economically independent.

2.6 Innovative processes adopted by the institution in Teaching and Learning: • The college organized a National Seminar on Health keeping in mind the serious need to improve
upon the nutrition Pattern of the Young Minds.
• Emphasis was made to train the students in meditations to cut stress from their lives.
• The college organized talks with experts from various fields for the students to learn about their
prospective careers. The students were made aware of the popular trends in education and were
trained so that they can add new perspectives to world of knowledge. Their creative bent of mind was
catered to and chiseled by the expert advice of the teachers.
• Modern trends were adapted to in the teaching learning process apart from the traditional ones.. Role
playing, lectures seminars and various activities were done to make learning interesting.
• Multi-media was used by all the departments at optimum level during the year.
• Greater emphasis was made to impart quality education to the students so that they can compete with
the global scenario.
• All teaching was value-based. Students were given topics in the Tutorials to discuss and ponder upon
and also to adopt values in their lives.
• Emphasis was made to make the students recognize their true potential and become self-dependent.
• Reading and Listening skills of the students were improved.
• Teaching is learner centric and dialogic method is used in teaching. Interactive sessions were held so
that the students feel free to make queries and also add to the pool of knowledge.
• Students were motivated to be confident in the classrooms and shun inhibitions and shyness.
• Mentoring sessions were also held for the benefit of the students.

The students were encouraged to make use of latest equipment in the college and prepare

and evaluation inter-disciplinary. Open book tests were given in the class rooms.

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the Teaching & Learning processes:
Various issues concerning Examination/Assessment/Administration/Infrastructure are discussed
in the IQAC meetings for improving academic environment in the college.
Proposals are sent to the Management, by the IQAC, to promote Quality in Education and the
Management in return, acts on the proposals, by sanctioning approvals for various activities
conducive to teaching and learning.
Emphasis is made to follow the Academic/Co Academic Calendars.
Meetings are held regularly with the staff to implement, assess and evaluate the outcome of the
action plans meant for Academics and Co academics.
Efforts are made to inculcate and foster a sense of self worth, pride and confidence in the
students by correlating the syllabi with their practical lives.

4.2 Computerization of administration and library
Administration is totally computerized. Computerization of Examination is under
process. Library is partially computerised and will be fully computerised within 2-3

Student Support and Progression 5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services IQAC makes plans, acts on the plan and analyses the outcome.
Elections to the Central Association are held every year so that the students imbibe the spirit
of leadership and help in decision making also.
All plans are made for the welfare of the students.
Functions are organized for the enrichment of the students.
Counselling Cell remains active throughout the year.
Placement Cell makes the students aware of the various career opportunities.
Open darbars is a regular feature.
Training Sessions are held for the teachers for addressing classroom efficiency and
mechanisms to make learning a fun-filled experience for the children of the various backgrounds.
The College provides counselling related to academic choices during the admissions process
to enable students to decide upon their course of study.

Alumni Meet was held and proper registration was done to track progression.
It has been decided to make Alumni meet an Annual feature.

invited and incorporated in the working of the college.

5.6 Details of student counselling and career guidance.
Counselling Cell has been actively guiding the students in groups and on one to one basis on
various personal and general issues. Placement Cell guided the students on various career
opportunities. Students were guided by the Principal and the teachers while issuing the DMCs.
The teachers are deputed to visit various schools for admission promotion and they guide
the students and help them in choosing the stream and counsel them for their career.

All the problems of the students are redressed by the Principal/Teachers/Management personally. Open
Darbars were held periodically/monthly, during which the management representatives redressed the
grievances of the students on the spot and sometimes within a stipulated period of time. Students demand

6. Governance, Leadership and Management 6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution
SDP College is run by Shri Sanatan Dharma Pracharak Sabha which was founded in 1904 with a mission
to serve the society by imparting education based on Indian traditions and cultural values. The
constitution of the Sabha was passed unanimously in Feb.1914 and got registered on 19 January, 1945.
SDP College for Women was conceived in 1968 with an idea of ensuring quality education to the girls
and it has developed into a premier institution of higher learning. It is a torch bearer of women
empowerment and since its inception it is dedicated to the cause of the upliftment of women, so as to
make them self-reliant and independent. It carries a high degree of creditability and is known for its
quality in education and promoting the culture of self reliance Vision
The College stands and perpetually aspires for excellence and provides every opportunity to students to
realize their full potential through Academic and Co-Academic activities. The ultimate goal of all
learning is Truth, Welfare and Beauty. By adopting the Motto “Satyam, Shivam, Sundram” the college

6.2 Does the Institution has a Management Information System
Yes, all the information is sent to the management through weekly/monthly reports by the
Principal. Important issues become part of the agenda for the meetings. Staff
representatives attend the meetings and act as a link between the Staff and the Management.
6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following: Academics 6.3.1 Curriculum Development
Planning for the session was made in advance and all academic activities became part of the
Academic Calendar, which was implemented during the session. Time table was put in
place and also dictated to the students during Orientation Session. Term-wise syllabus was
planned and completion reports were taken from the teachers by the Academic In charge.
Regular teaching was complemented with role based activities. Class level seminars and
activities were promoted for effective curriculum development. Students made PPTs and
presented them in the class rooms. Deliberation through series of meetings were done on
various issues pertaining to curriculum operationalization, targeting academic excellence for
quality enhancement in education.
6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
The learners are at the core of all teaching and learning process and all activities are
learner- centric. The main aim of the IQAC is to make learning a ruminative activity where
the learners are equipped with the skills to evaluate, ponder and analyse and teaching
becomes a ruminative experience for them. Keeping this in mind the IQAC coordinated
with various committees to make learning a totally satisfying experience for the learners.
Departmental and college level duties were fixed and after reaching a consensus and shared
understanding, the students were made aware of their curriculum modules.
New pedagogic techniques were adopted by the teachers.
Remedial classes for weak students were organized
Curriculum operationalization was done by a series of staff meetings and endeavour was made to make teaching learning reach optimum level/standard.
Teaching was made interesting by way of audio-visual aids used in the classroom. Use of
Multimedia was promoted. Power Point Presentations were made and presented by the
students.
Seminars were organized by the students in the classrooms.
Lively interactions and group discussions were followed by assignments, class tests and quiz
Special English Language Proficiency and Computer Literacy Skills were acquired by the students. Students were tested periodically.

6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation
Monthly /weekly tests and mid semester exams were a regular feature of the Examination system during the session.
Attendance in examination was reinforced.
Students were assessed for their performance in the classes.
Assignments were given and seminars were also organized.
Result analysis was done.
Internal Assessments were done on the basis of performance of the learners in the tests, assignments and classrooms.
6.3.4 Research and Development
Seed Money was also earmarked for the development of research activities. Staff members were encouraged to attend seminars, workshops and conferences. Many teachers presented papers and got their papers published during the session.
Teachers were encouraged/sent for refresher courses/orientation programmes.
Some teachers are working on their books. Few members of the staff are pursuing their PhD
course work. 6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation.
Bar Coding was the new initiative in the Library. Library was equipped with
NLIST Programme. New Journals were added.
Common Room and Staff Room were totally refurbished.
IQAC/NAAC office was also refurbished.
Construction of Cosmetology labs and two rooms adjoining the lab were
completed and furnished.
The main road connecting the college from the back gate was repaired.
The passages were also repaired.
Library Hall was refurbished.
Main college gate was erected
6.3.6 Human Resource Management
Workshops were held to boost the morale of the staff both morally and spiritually.

All criterion regarding selection and appointment of faculty, as per University/ UGC norms was followed during the interviews.
Adhoc appointments were made as per the requirements.
6.3.8 Industry Interaction / Collaboration
Formal Consultancy with the Banks and LIC was done. Job Fair was organized by the SBI.
Students were sent on industrial visits. MOU was signed with IBM Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Jannat
Professional and Eastman Impact Ludhiana. Experts from Banking, Computer, LIC and Industry
visited the college and organized lectures.
6.3.9 Admission of Students
As per the regular practice personal efforts were made by the staff by visiting various schools in
the adjoining localities for the promotion of Admission. Career Guidance and Counselling was
also done by the staff in different schools. .Advertisements/hoardings were placed for the same.
Personal contacts of the staff were also used to promote admission in various classes. College
website highlighted Admission dates, rules, eligibility criterion from time to time.

Uniform is given to the staff. Loans are also given to them to meet exigencies and fee concessions are given to their wards.

The students were made aware of the Supreme Court’s direction on REDUCE, RECYCLE AND REUSE.
The project of Vermiculture was initiated in the college.
Tree plantation was done as usual. Awareness was created in the students regarding
Project Swacch Bharat was implemented and the students were made aware of their
responsibility as future mothers. Students were motivated to make optimum use of
electricity and not to waste energy.
Green Brigade of the college actively worked towards tree plantation and environmental awareness.

Every student who joins the college is made comfortable in the new milieu and is facilitated in all
possible ways, financially, academically, psychologically and are is assisted in pursuing her goal.
Academic and co-Academic committees ensured academic and co-academic ethos in the college.
The focus is always on making the students socially aware and responsible.
Enrichment programmes beyond the classrooms were organized by the college. Department of Sanskrit organized a mantra chanting session in the college.
New techniques were evolved for the teaching learning paradigm by many teachers.
Training in Quality Management was given to the staff from time to time.
Open Durbars in the presence of the Management representatives also had a very meaningful impact on the students. Students came up with their grievances and some of them were redressed on the spot.

All the pending issues from the last year were taken into account. Efforts were made to implement the Annual plan of the college. Feedback was taken from the staff members and additional efforts were done to improve the educational scenario of the college.

Every possible effort is made to develop and review policies and procedures as per the requirement of the students.
Open Durbars were held regularly for students to take suggestions from the students and
solve their problems. Best interests of the students were taken care of. All possible efforts were made to
enhance the quality in education

Diwali, Republic Day and Independence Day were celebrated jointly by all the institutions
of the Sabha. Students of National Child labour School were involved in the functions of the College.
College students acted as volunteers and counsel the students from the deprived sections and help them in various activities.
School dropouts from adjoining areas were admitted in the NCLP

Green Brigade is made active in the college. Students are motivated to grow more trees and create
environmental friendly conditions in the society. .Awareness is created in the students through
regular lectures and also during NSS and NCC camps. Tree Plantation is a regular feature and the
students are motivated to grow more trees. In their Environmental Awareness lectures they are

Havan marked the beginning of New Academic Session at S.D.P. College for Women,
Ldh. The Management, Principal, staff and students of the college solemnized Havan to
invoke the blessings of Gods and Goddesses and prayed for the well-being and prosperity
of the college. Sh. Rajinder Soi and Sh. Varinder Gupta Hon’ble members, College
Managing Committee acted as Yajman of this pious ceremony. Sh. Mangal Sen
Grover, Member College Managing Committee, Ms. S. Verma, Director, Mr. R.K
Khurana, Dy. Director, Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal, Staff and students and other
employees presided over the occasion.

July 2016
The beginning of every new academic session brings with it a plethora of
hopes, excitements, thrills and warmth. SDP family always welcomes its freshers by
organizing a gala welcome party. This year also a grand welcome party was organized in
the College seminar hall. Dr. Neena Aneja , Principal of the college was present on the
occasion to bestow her blessings on the new students. A good number of dance items and
songs were presented by the students on this occasion. Miss Fresher a BEAUTY
PAGEANT was an additional feather in the cap of cultural bonanza. Dr. Veena Maan,
Dr. Prakash Verma and Ms. Neel kamal adjudged the beautiful eves and declared Miss
Muskan as Miss Fresher and Shefali and Megha as first and second Runners-Up.

Dept. of English of S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana organised a workshop on
Interpersonal Skills and Communication in the college premises. Mr. Narinder
Aggarwal, Master Facilitator was the chief resource person. He was accorded a most
cordial floral welcome by Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal. Students of all SDP Institution
attended the workshop on 30th
July, 2016. Mr. Narinder Aggarwal spoke on interpersonal
skills and effective communication. Questionnaires were distributed and students were
asked to come on the dias and speak for two minutes and a exercise to overcome stage
phobia.

Motivational Lecture was organized by Dept. of N.C.C in seminar hall of the college.
Col. Sandeep Bhatia. Commanding Officer, Pre Punjab Girls Batalian was the resource
person. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal also presided over the occasion. He motivated the
girls to choose NCC as a Carrier and became independent in their life. He also aware the
girls about various carrier options available in NCC and how they serve their country by
adopting N.C.C. Dr. Asha Aneja, Dept, of NCC thanked the resource person for sparing
his valuable time.

Department of Fine Arts and Dept. of Languages celebrated Friendship day in the college
premises. Different competitions were organized like Poem Recitation, Declamation,
Card making and Band making. In Card making competition, Km. Sabhya, Km. Sheetal
and Km. Ranjana jain won first, second and third prize respectively. In band making
completion Km. Ranjana jain, Km. Kamaljeet Kaur and Km. Pooja won first, second and
third prize respectively. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal also presided over the occasion. She
addressed the students and told them the importance of friendship day and congratulates
and appreciated the efforts of the organizers.

The students of S.D.P College for Women celebrated TEEJ, a festival of rainy season,
amidst much gaiety, fervour and exuberance in the college premises. Dr. Neeru Katyal
Gupta (ADC ROOP NAGAR) was the Chief Guest while Dr. Shikha Bhasin was
the guest of honour of the celebration. They were accorded a most cordial welcome by
Dr. Neena Aneja Principal, Staff& Students of the college. Contests like Mehandi, Jutti,
Rangoli, Painting and Bangles were held on the spot. Teeyian di Rani a Punjabi Beauty
Pageant was the special attraction of the festival. Dr. Neeru Katyal Gupta, Chief Guest
also addressed the gathering. Addressing staff & students she said that she was greatly
impressed by the way she was greeted and welcomed by the college .She further said
that girls are in no way less than boys and they too, can excel and contribute to national
development in any sphere .She promised to deliver lecture on the Time Management in
the coming times. Dr. Shikha Bhasin with Principal, In-charge and Judges crowned Ms.
Isha as MISS TEEJ& honoured the winners of different contest with prizes.

N.S.S Department of S.D.P. College for Women organized one day Swachh Bharat
campaign in college campus. 24 Students participated in the poster making
competition. Principal Dr. Neena Aneja encouraged the students to take initiative to

chief guest unfurled the flag, the National Anthem added patriotic fervor. Tri-coloured
balloons were released and the National Flag swirled in its full grandeur. The students
presented cultural and patriotic feast to commemorate the sweet memories and
contributions of legendary heroes of Independence. Hon'ble chief guest Mr. Bhasin
also addressed the audience on this occasion. In his message, he congratulated all
present and said that the sole purpose of celebrating these national festivals is to
make the students aware of the sacrifices made by legendry heroes and gallant warriors
who made sacrifices and left a rich legacy that the coming generations can feel proud
of. He concluded his message with an appeal to all to perform duty honestly

and sincerely. The celebration concluded with distribution of sweets among
students.

SDP College for Women, Ldh organized one day seminar on NAAC, Dr. Dalip Kumar
Head Dept. of Bio-Technology and Dr. Lakhvir Dept. of Sanskrit, PG Govt. College
for Girls, Chd. were the resource persons of the seminar. They were accorded a most
cordial floral welcome by Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal and Co-ordinator Dr. Prakash
Verma formally welcomed Dr. Dalip Kumar highlighting his Academic, Research and
other achievements and accomplishments. Dr. Dalip Kumar, key note speaker threw light
on Empowerment Strategies of Institutions of Higher Learning addressing the staff,
students other employees of the college. He also highlighted the benefits of getting
assessed and accreditation in detail and explained all the Seven Keys Aspects one by one.
He concluded his talk with revised grading system of NAAC. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal

and said that it was nice to see the old students of college as successful persons. The
packed programme of Alumni Meet included interactive session. Old students of college
felt happy to share past experiences of their college life & they talked about their career
also. At the end of the occasion feedback proformas were filled by all alumni members.

Teacher’s Day was celebrated in college premises by P.G Dept. of Hindi and by
Department of Economics in Room no. 1. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal presided over the
occasion and threw light on the importance of a teacher in life to achieve various targets
and to become a successful person. Poem Recitation and Declamation contest was
organized. Students of the college sang songs, recited poems and gave beautiful speeches
to express their deep love and respect for their teachers. 60 students participated in this
occasion with great enthusiasm.
18. 7th September, 2016
A Multidisciplinary Presentation was made by the Department of English, Green
Brigade and Central Association of SDP College for Women, for making Ludhiana
city clean and green, highlighting the need to grow more trees in the surrounding areas to
create and maintain the ecological balance. The students also enlightened the audience
about the importance and benefits of Basil /Tulsi leaves in Ayurveda and how it can help
in curing deadly diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, Dengue, Swine flu etc. Dr. Geeta
Bhandari made the students aware about the fact that the college is often referred to as an
Oasis in the Desert owing its status to different and innumerable kinds of trees and
plants growing in the college and also made the students take note of their botanical
names and significance. Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College and Dr. Neena Aneja,
Principal of the college lauded the students for their effort.

NSS Dept. organized World Literacy Day here today in the college campus and many
students participated in Declamation Contest with great enthusiasm. Dr. Neena Aneja
Principal of the College praised Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, Ms. Esha Gupta and Ms. Poonam
for organizing this function. On the occasion Dr. Neena Aneja gave an inspirational
speech and told students that only education helps in Women Empowerment. Results of

An Awareness lecture was organized by Department of Economic & Political Science
of S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana. Faculty members encouraged the students to
exercise their right to vote. The awareness lecture highlighted the need to vote as voting
is the corner stone of a democracy. The faculty members of political Science and
economics enlightened the students about, voting is a way to our mind, let our voice be
heard. The students were made aware about the fact that their vote really matters.
Students also gave their presentation on the various topics such as Voting Can Bring
Miraculous Changes, My Vote, My Right and Importance of Voting in A
Democratic Setup. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal S.D.P. College for Women encouraged
students with her words and told them voting is not requirement but it is a responsibility.

in Room no. 9. Stop Killing Time movie was shown to the students of B.com and BBA.

year students in Room no. 41. Ms. Ranjana Sood, Head, Department of
Economics was the resource person of the day. She aware the students about Organic
food and its importance. She also educate the students about organic farming and ill
effects of GM foods on health.

PG Dept. of Hindi of S.D.P College for women, Ludhiana celebrated Hindi Diwas here
today in the college campus. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal presided over the occasion.
Students expressed their deep gratitude and love for our national language via speeches
and poem recitation. Students recited poems on the theme Hindi Bhasha Ki Mahatatta,
Hindi Tuje Shat Shat Naman, Sanchar Kranti Aur Hindi Sahaitya. Dr. NeenaAneja
appreciated the efforts of Hindi department and said that Hindi language maintains
national unity and integrity, as this language preserves our past culture and she also gave
prizes to the participants and expressed a hope that students will make continues efforts
to use this language in technical fields also.

Panjab University Zonal Youth Festival started today with a great ceremonial splendor
and an amazing display of talent, vim and vigor in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana.
Students from eleven participating women colleges took part in various singing
competitions, providing a virtual treat to the soul. Ms. Surabhi Malik, IAS, Additional
Commissioner was the chief guest in the morning session. She encouraged the students
of different colleges to shy away from the mindsets and create a comfortable place for
themselves by hitting hard at the male bastions and strongholds. The evening session was
presided over by Ms. Apneet Kaur, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner. She stressed
on the need of Women Empowerment in the world of today so that the girls can be self-
reliant and self-dependent.
Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women, lauded the efforts of the students
and motivated the students to achieve great heights. Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director, Youth
Welfare Department addressed the participants and briefed them about the rules and
guidelines to take care of during the Youth Festival. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal, also
appreciated and thanked each and every one for the exertions made by them to hold the
Festival. Prominent personalities from various fields of society and Principals from
different colleges graced the occasion with their presence.

The second day of Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival was an
exhibition of fun-filled and unsuppressed talent, which brought the hidden talent of the
students to the fore. Dr. Gagan Kundra IRS, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax was
the Chief Guest on the occasion. She addressed and appreciated the efforts of the students
to make the show a true image of rich cultural heritage of Punjab. She motivated the
students to become Iron ladies so as to face the harsh outside world.
Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President SDP College for Women coaxed and persuaded the students
to come out of their shells and get exposed to the various activities available for them in
the colleges. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal also lauded the hard work and toil of the

Activities: Panjab University Zonal Youth Festival started with a great aplomb today,
amidst great fun and frolic, in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. It was an amazing
display of spectacular group/classical and folk dances and Folk Orchestra. Students from
eleven participating women colleges took part in these colourful dance performances,
providing a virtual treat to the audience. Ms R Bhama, IRS, Principal Commissioner,
Income Tax was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She encouraged the teams of different
colleges and advised them to shun comfort zones and create a place for themselves in the
society. She also said that females are the best homemakers and their job is the most
important of all. Dr Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University was
the Chief Guest in the evening session. He congratulated and motivated the students by
giving away the prizes. Sh Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women,
appreciated the vigour, vitality and the efforts of the students.
Eminent personalities were honoured on the occasion. Prominent among them were
Principal, Sh Jhanji, AS College, Khanna, Mr Raman Kumar, Jalandhar Doordarshan, Sh

Activities: Four day Panjab University Zonal Youth Festival ended on a jubilant note
today in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. Participants and winners were in a very
triumphant mood. A great ceremonial splendour was witnessed during the closing
ceremony. Students from various collaborating colleges (women) took part in Indian
Orchestra and Folk Dances. Dr Tarundeep, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax was
the Chief Guest on the occasion. She encouraged the teams of different colleges and
proposed that people with different cultures and religion, irrespective of their caste,
colour, creed or language should sync together to bring India to number one position in
the world. Sh Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women, lauded and
commended the efforts of the students and motivated the students and gave away the
prizes. Dr Neena Aneja, Principal , appreciated the hard work of the principals, teachers
and participants of different colleges to make the youth Festival a memorable event.
Popular T series singer Gabby Gautam, known for the popular songs Gaddian, and
Teeyan ,enthralled the audience with his melodious songs.

Under the supreme guidance and sole inspiration of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President S.D.P
Sabha and College managing committee NSS Department of SDP College for Women
organized Seven days NSS camp in the college campus from 8-10-2016 to 14-10-2016.
153 members including 150 NSS volunteers and 3 staff members attended this camp.
Various activities were organized like Workshop on Art & Craft, Cooking and
Rangoli designs, Cleanliness Campaigns, Medical Check-up camps, Rally regarding
Cleanliness at nearby areas, Visit to Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Lecture on “Art of
Living”, Lecture on “Traffic Awareness” by S. Sukhdev Singh and other cultural
activities like Dance were organized. Dr. (Mrs) Neena Aneja, Principal of S.D.P.
College for women, Ludhiana and also the members of SDP Sabha and College
Managing Committee presided over the function. She was accorded a warm and hearty
welcome by Prog. Officers Ms. Poonam, Ms. Esha Gupta and Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur. Ms.

Esha Gupta read the detail report of the activities conducted and the project under taken
during seven day. Honorable Chief Guest Dr. (Mrs) Neena Aneja, Principal of S.D.P.
College for women, Ludhiana with program officers awarded the certificates to prize
winners. She also addressed the campers that such schemes boost nationalist spirit and
develop harmony and co-operation. Dr. Parkash Verma also conveyed a sense of

A two day joint Diwali Cultural Festival began here today in the premises of S.D.P.
College for Women, Ludhiana amidst much fervour, joy and exuberance. All S.D.P.
educational institutions viz S.D.P.Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, S.D.P. Sr. Sec.
School, Basti Jodhewal, Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School Dugri, Sh. Om Parkash Gupta
S.D.P. Sr. Sec. School, Quilla Mohalla and SDP Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Campus
S.D.P. College, joined these festivities. Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President S.D.P. Sabha and
College Management Committee was the chief guest of the festivity. He was accorded
floral welcome by Sh. H.K. Chugh, Gen. Secretary, Sh. Vijayinder Gupta Committee
Member & Principals of SDP Institution Dr Neena Aneja, Sh. Jasveer Chauhan, Ms.
Sarita Goyal, Ms. Raman Oberoi and Dr. Sanjeev Bindra. The function began with Jyoti
Prajavalan, a sacred ceremony. Hon’ble Sh. Lekh Raj Arora, Sr. Vice President, College
Managing Committee with Principals lighted the traditional lamp and inaugurated the
Diwali fest. The students of S.D.P. College for Women paid obeisance to Goddess Saraswati
through Pooja Dance and showed their Aastha towards Lord Rama through devotional
songs and dances. The students of all S.D.P. Educational Institutions presented a
scintillating cultural extravaganza of melodious songs, theatrical items, folk and state
dances on the tune of various songs both Indian and Western. Mr. Balraj Bhasin joined by
Principals and members of management to award the excellent student performers in
various activities who brought laurels in the fields of academics and extra-curricular
activities.

Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). NAAC members had interaction with
staff, non-teaching staff, old students and parents. They have observed the college
campus. President Sh. Balraj Bhasin congratulated all the college members for this
achievement. The NAAC office appointed a peer team consisting of three members of
Porf. Rajendra Prasad Das Vice Chancellor, Berhampur University, Berhampur, Orissa,
Dr Meena Gaur from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur-Rajasthan and Dr
Margaret Bastin Former Principal, St. Joseph’s Arts And Science College for Women,
Tamil Nadu. The team spent two days in November in the college for the re-accreditation
process i.e 28th

November 2016 for a comprehensive review of working of the
college till October, 2016. They visited all the Departments and interacted with the

campus with full gravity and seriousness befitting the occasion. This awareness
campaign is being organized by the administrative authorities of the concerned States
holding Assembly Elections. The thrust area of this campaign is Empowering Young
and Future Voters. Ms. Lovejeet Kaur Kalsi DTO cum Returning Officer was the Chief
Guest of the occasion. The programme began with a patriotic song sung by students of
Music Vocal Dept. It was followed choreography on the theme Voting Rights of
Humans. On this occasion Dept. of Fine Arts organized Slogan Writing Competition.

anniversary of Indian Republic amidst great
fervour, gaiety, joy and jubilations despite heavy rain fall in the campus of SDP College for
Women, Ldh. Almost 5000 students of SDP Educational Institutions viz SDP College for
Women, Daresi Road, SDP Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, College Campus, SDP
Sr.Sec.School, Hazuri Road. Sri O.P Gupta Model Sr.Sec.School, Quilla
Mohalla, SDP Sr.Sec.School, Basti Jodhewal and Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School,
Dugri jointly commemorated the spirit of patriotism and nationalism presenting
mesmerizing cultural bonanza of folk songs, choreographies, patriotic songs, folk dances,
Giddha and Bhangra.P.T. and Aerobic exercises were additional charm which brought a splash
of colour to the peaceful and serene morning.

to pay tribute to Father of Nation, Mohan Dass
Karamchand Gandhi, who sacrificed his life for the nation and was assassinated on Jan
30, 1948.NSS Volunteers participated in Poem Writing and Poster Making Competition
with great zeal and enthusiasm. Principal, Dr.(Mrs.) Neena Aneja appreciate the efforts
of Ms. Ramanpreet kaur, Ms. Esha Gupta and Ms. Poonam for organizing this function.
Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Neena Aneja gave an inspirational speech. Km. Vidhi of B.B.A.III
won first prize in poem writing competition. Km. Poonam of B.B.A.III came second and
Km. Poonam Moudgill of B.B.A.III came third. In Poster making competition Km. Sonia
of B.Com.II won first prize. Km. Neha of B.Com. II came second and Km.Twinkle of
B.B.A.III came third.

SDP college for Women delivered Extension lecture to mothers of the students of
National Child Labour School. The homemakers belonging to the families of below
poverty line were educated about food, nutrients, nutrition and methods of making
nutritious meals for the family without raising the cost of food. National Child Labour
School is running under the aegis of National Child Labour Project, in the premises of
SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. Dr. Neena Aneja encouraged the homemakers to
provide healthy and nutritious diet to homemakers.

out of Waste. The Guest Ms. Ramma Chhabra renowed artist along with Mrs. Roop
Ranjan Dharni HOD Fine Arts conducted the workshop. She shared her views that
Creativity is your imagination and your talent coming out of your Brian. Student learn
how to decorate empty waste bottles. They make a beautiful decoration pieces from
bottle. They also learn to make trible face with Shilpkar and fabric colours. She shared
some wonderful best out of waste ideas for students. Students were happy by learning
new things.

resource person of Technical Session II of the conference. The conference began with
Darwin’s Theory survival of the fastest and moved to the main theme Healthy Lives
Brighter futures. Teachers from more than 30 colleges contributed papers in this

Open Darbar was held at S.D.P.College for Women, Ldh. The precedings of the Darbar
were presided over by Sh. H K Chugh Gen. Secy. College Managing Committee,
Principal Dr. Neena Aneja and Dr Geeta Bhandari Co-Academic In-charge. There is one
demand of students to replace the sound system in the seminar hall. The presiding
committee gave a patient hearing to the suggestions and demands brought forward in the
Open Darbar regarding essential services, infrastructure etc. and provided solutions by
giving instructions to the concerned persons.

SDP College for Women, Ludhiana visited Ek Jot viklanga School and spent qualiy
time with the children. Almost 30 students met with the children and understand their
mental ability and talent. They also visited old orphanage and feel that senior citizen is an
important part of life. They give their valuable advice that helps students to achieve their
goals.

Debate Contest. Mr. K.K. Dhir, Former Registrar, PTU was the chief guest on the occasion and
Sh. Sanjeev Gupta son of Sh. O.P. Gupta presided over the function. The members of the
Management present were Sh. H.K. Chugh (Gen. Secretary) Ms. S. Verma (Director), Sh.
Mangal Sen Grover, Sh. Dhari Shah Singla and Mr. Sanjeev Bindra. Ms. Rashmi Grover ( Retd.
Prof. Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana), Dr. Amandeep Kaur ( Prof. of Economics, G.N.

Institutions paid glowing tributes to Sh. Om Parkash Gupta , a seasoned politician
(elected M.L.A thrice from Ludhiana East Constituency in 1977,1980 & 1985) . Late
Sh. Gupta was an untiring crusader & was committed whole- heartedly to the noble cause
of women empowerment through education. His missionary zeal and benevolent
patronage enabled S.D.P. Educational Institutions to scale the heights of glory and
success. Dr. (Ms.) Geeta Bhandari , Offg. Principal S.D.P. College, HOI Sh. Jasveer
Chauhan , Ms. Sarita Goel & Dr. Sanjeev Bindra were also present on the occasion . All

Students were told about;
What's the importance of Bal Chetna?
Why do we have to keep on focusing on breath?
Components of body i.e. earth, space, water, air and fire was told to students.
Being energetic daily is a must to do all the daily work for that bhastrika pranayam is a must,
taught the Pranayam and made them done for 3 times.
Day 2
Revision of activities of first day for 10 min.
Pranayam exercises
Eating healthy food helps our body to grow mentally and physically.
Vegetarian food is easily digestible in the body and by eating vegetarian food thoughts are more
peaceful and body is able to balance the weight.

Day 3
Inspired the students to take their own responsibility.
One should be responsible of oneself. Only then he/she will be able to take responsibility of
others like family, society and country.
Taking bath daily, nail cutting, wear good and clean clothes etc and drinking at least 12 glasses
of water daily helps diseases to not infect the body
Day 4 Importance of Water in life.
How to stop water wastage?
One meditation was done to make students peaceful and happy. After that a dance and Bhajans
