Best practices :01 Annexure 3i

1. Title of the Practice: Inculcation of Ethical Values among students

2. Objectives of the practice: 1. To create an environment of transparency and introspection.

2. To develop self respect and self discipline.

3. To inculcate spiritual and ethical values to the students during their regular study.

4. to develop holistic approach in the students.

3. The context:

In Modernization education system has very little scope for imparting human and spiritual values.

Therefore the college has thought it worthy of arranging extra programmes and generate moral

atmosphere in the College for overall development of the students. In our college day starts by Morning

Prayer to inculcate ethical values among student. Gayatri parivar ever since its inception has been striving

hard to impart ethical values and culture through their group of educational institutions.

4. The Practice:

Lectures are delivered by external experts and internal resource persons on topics like integrity,

responsibility, empathy, righteousness, piety and courage and Indian ethos among the students.

All the activities mentioned above have been conducted by various committees like Art

circle,Ceremony,Student welfare, career counseling, science association ,Wangmay Mandal,

Environmental awareness, Lifelong learning cell, Yuvati sabha,Yuvarang; NSS. It is also given by varios

add-on courses like Certificate course in Human Right Education and Women Entrepreneurship

5. Evidence of Success:

Our college is actively organizing the various programs, a gradual shift is observed in the attitude and

behavior of the students in terms of introspection, differentiation between right and wrong things.

Our students are also participating in various social programmes like Pulse Polio Abhiyan .Road safety

Abhiyan Swachh bharat Abhiyan, Yuvarang ,Yuvati Sabha, Karma veer Bhaurao Patil Earn While Learn

Scheme.etc.

Best practice :02 Annexure 3ii

1 Title of the Practice: Production of Vermi Compost 2. Objectives of the practice: 1. To produce superior quality manure.

2.Large volume of organic matter generated from our routine activities, leaf let fallen from our garden,

Leaves from trees in the campus usually dumped in corners emanating foul smell, can be utilized by

properly composting it into a value-added end product

3. Simple activity that can be done by anyone.

4. Minimal cost and requires very little space.

5. Good for the environment.

6. Safe, and Cheap.

3. The context: Worm composting or Vermi composting is a safe, fun, educational, and earth friendly hobby that you can

feel good about. Earthworms, specifically composting worms, through their natural digestive process,

turn organic waste into worm castings. Vermi compost is nature’s organic fertilizer.

In our college we keep the campus clean and green. Due to that the leaf lets are collected and can be used

to prepare manure. It also leads to decrease the environmental problems arising from their disposal and

help to keep our campus clean and eco friendly.

4. The Practice:

Our campus development committee and Department of zoology constructed the pit for

manufacture of Vermi compost. The pit will facilitate easy and continuous movement of earthworms

from one chamber with fully composted matter to the one with the pre-processed waste in the chambers.

All these organic wastes can be turned over or mixed periodically with a spade. Regular watering should

be done to keep the pit moist. If the weather is very dry, it should be checked periodically.

5. Evidence of Success: Organic wastes can be broken down and fragmented rapidly by earthworms, resulting in a stable nontoxic material with good structure, which has a potentially high economic value and also act as soil conditioner for plant growth. It also supplies a suitable mineral balance, improves nutrient availability and could act as complex-fertilizer granules. It also involves great reduction in populations of pathogenic microorganisms, thus not differing from composting from this point of view. This year compost is produced and sold it, to the students, staff as well as persons in the society at free of cost. It also gives a message to our youth it is not only aim to earn money, but also aid society by providing excellent quality organic manure for sustainable agro-practices. It reflects our mission for better society and stronger Nation. In future it can also be practiced as paid consultancy by our college.
