PARISH VISIONPreparing the way for the love of God to reach all people by * Being shaped into the character of Jesus * Maturing in the expression of each individual’s spiritual ministry * Fulfilling our God-given purpose in the world. Chisholm, Loris Clark, Peter Finlayson. They have been meeting together, resources are being gathered and today we pray for them as they commit themselves to this ministry. Welcome ministry is a specialised area of pastoral care. It is specifically aimed at welcoming new church members and encouraging them for the first six months as they connect and integrate into regular Sunday worship and ongoing Church fellowship. Welcome ministry encourages and assists new members to feel at home within the Church by providing a safe and welcoming first impression and experience of public worship and subsequently providing ongoing support with integration into a small group and or other ministry within the Parish. Welcome ministry is open to established Christians looking for a new home church, as well as, new Christians or people exploring Christianity for the first time. The aim of this ministry is to develop a culture of welcome, inclusion and evangelism within the Church body. This is a foundational ministry for truly becoming a gathering Church and fulfilling our commitment to preparing the way for the love of God to reach all people. This is a very distinct ministry from small groups, pastoral care and hospitality.Small Groups represent the foundational unit of belonging within the parish. Small groups form part of Church membership. A small group is a gathering of more than two people who are committed to one another and eager to learn more about Jesus through appropriate worship, discussion, learning, shared life and service. There are very different small groups throughout the parish, each having its own distinctive life and focus. It is vitally important that we find the best small group for each person based on their identity, hopes, dreams and expectations. The Welcome Ministry Team members will encourage those fresh to the church to experiment with different groups or suggest what they feel is the best group for each person. Lesley Chisholm is the Small Groups Ministry Team Leader who is always really pleased to speak with potential members or those who might like to establish a new group.Pastoral Care oversees the needs of those not being covered by the Welcome Team or in a Small Group. Our aim through pastoral care is to EVENTS THROUGH THE WEEK:Sunday 26: 5pm Sunday at Five-St. Peter’s. Monday 27: 10.30-12 noon ‘Pray & Play’. encourage all of God’s people in the parish to grow in their awareness of God’s love, their likeness to Christ, and so to develop to their full potential in Christ through effective service and membership in a small group where possible. Other than the very sick, frail and those with ongoing conditions pastoral care is a journey to a small group where people genuinely feel they are both cared for and able to share in meaningful and deep relationships with other Christians where they can grow and bless others. Graham Toohill is the Pastoral Care Ministry Team Leader.Hospitality has recently been our focus as we continue to develop better ways of being church together following Services. Numbers of

round tables have been provided in the narthex for both Leongatha congregations. Pat Bowman has taken responsibility for this vital ministry following the 10.00am Service. Fellowship after Services is crucial and we are seeking to provide the best possible environment and refreshments in the space we have. We have improved the coffee as well as the food. It would help to create a great atmosphere if more people moved to this area directly after the Service keeping an eye out for those who may be isolated and involving them. We want Pat to be free to circulate more among people sharing hospitality so if you are willing to assist with this ministry in the kitchen we would love to hear from you. Members from the 8.00am Service are encouraged to exit via the narthex door and move to the tables for refreshments and fellowship.Four different ministry areas utilising and developing the gifts of many because “there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-5) As these ministries operate within the boundaries set in place by the Parish Council so the whole ministry of God’s people will be built up and we will become mature in Christ (Ephesians 4:12) and the work of Christ will multiply within our area. From Christ the whole church “grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)So we will fulfil our Parish Vision which is: Preparing the way for the love of God to reach all people by: Being shaped into the character of Jesus; Maturing in the expression of each individual’s spiritual ministry; Fulfilling our God-given purpose in the world.
