The mission of the Gulfport School District is to inspire each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and productive member of

society.

Mission Statement

I AM SYRIA Ms Lewis's United States History classes discussed the mass immigration of the 19th and 20th century. Three million Jews from Russia came to America to escape

religious persecution. The class facilitated a discussion where they compared Russian Jews of the late 1800's to the political persecution of Syrian citizens today.

Students came to the conclusion that they are global citizens. We may live thousands of miles away from this country, but we recognize we are all interconnected. We care about the injustice taking place in Syria.

Eleven million Syrians have left the country due to political persecution and civil war violence. Gulfport High School students stated, "I AM SYRIA."

GHS Choral Singers performed at USM ’s SICC Concert

Thirteen current GHS students were selected to attend the University of Southern Mississippi's SICC Honor Choir. In addition, there were five Community College delegates who are alumni of GHS. Of those alumni, Olivia Russell (currently at MGCCC-Perk) was a featured soloist in a master class for the faculty workshops and Lane Stewart (currently at PRCC) was a featured soloist during the exhibition concert. In addition, four GHS alumni are currently members of the USM Choral Department who performed in the exhibition choirs at SICC. In all, twenty-two Gulfport High Singers made this a memorable event.

Congressional Debate Tournament

Daniel Garcia attended the Oak Grove High School Debate Tournament on September 26th where he

competed in Congressional

Debate. Congressional Debate is a mock legislative assembly competition where students draft bills and resolutions, which they and their peers later debate and vote to pass into law. Daniel advanced to finals by placing 1st in prelims. Daniel placed 7th overall in the competition.

The Bold, The Young, and the Murdered October 21-23, 2015 The long-running soap opera The Bold and the Young is in its last days: its hunky hero has self-esteem issues, its villainous old man is more interested in soup, and its heroines are slightly psychopathic. The squabbling cast has been given an ultimatum: Complete one episode overnight or the show dies. But when the director ends up murdered, and other cast members are dropping like flies, it seems like the threat might actually come true. Can these misfits discover the murderer before the show is literally killed off? We kick off our 20th season with a seriously fun murder mystery that you won't want to miss.
