Dear Parents,
Greetings!
The second term witnessed a lot of activities along with academic rigour with an aim to prepare our children
to be global citizens with requisite skills and competencies that give them an edge over others. Students
hoisted the school flag high with pride in all the events that they participated in. It is my pleasure to roll out
a report with the highlights of the Second term.
Glory in Sports: It has been our constant endeavour to give exposure to our students in all the spheres
including sports and games. Our recent achievements in the arena of sports are in Yoga, Chess and
Athletics. A team of nine students participated in the CBSE National Yoga Tournament held at
Acharyakulam, Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar from 18th
to 21st November 2016.These students Sakshi
Jain(VIIIA), Anamika Prasad (VIIIA), Niharika Rajpurohit (VIIIB), Rashmi Pal (IXA), Paritosh Bharadwaj
(VIIIA) , Tanishq Sinhal(XA), Raghav Pareek (XA), Shubham Goel (XB) and Aman Mishra (XB). They
also attended a session conducted by Swami Ramdevji and were motivated by his Yoga practices.
The CBSE West Zone Chess Tournament was held at DPS Chhindwara (MP) from 3rd
to 5th
October 2016.
Both the Girls and the Boys teams of the school participated in the U-19 category. The Girls team
comprised Shruti Bagrodia (XI A), Ashi Jain (XI A), Tamanna Mehta (XI B) and Arib Fatima (XA). They
were selected for the Nationals and represented the school at DPS Varanasi (UP) from 15th
to 22nd
December.
Our students participated at the CBSE Cluster level Athletics and three of them made it to the Nationals.
They represented the school at the CBSE National Athletic Meet from 26th to 30th December at Gujarat
Public School, Vadodara. These proud athletes Sambodhi Bansal (XI A) participated in Javelin Throw, Ravi
Beniwal (XIIB) in 5000 m. race and Puru Maheshwari (XIIA) in Triple Jump.
National Children’s Science Congress: It is organized every year with an objective to develop scientific
temper among the students and to motivate them towards research in the field of science by the Govt. of
India in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology. This year’s theme was “Science,
technology and innovation for Sustainable Development”. It’s a matter of immense pleasure for us that four
groups of students from our institution qualified for the State level competition held at Bansal Institute of
Technology, Bhopal and two of them were selected for the National level competition which was held at
Vidya Pratishthan’s Institute of Information Technology, Baramati, Maharashtra from 27th
to 31st
December 2016.
Vigyan Manthan Yatra: Madhya Pradesh Council of Science & Technology along with the Government of
Madhya Pradesh every year organizes the Vigyan Manthan Yatra. In this event meritorious students of
Madhya Pradesh get an opportunity to visit Laboratories/Institutions of International & National repute and
provide a scientific temperament and unique opportunity of interaction with eminent scientists. This year
two students Palash Singhal (IX) and Aviral Sharma (IX) were selected for it. The event was organized from
15th
to 23rd
October at Lucknow.
Quality Management Systems: The Internal audit of ISO was conducted in December 2016. Areas for
improvement in various fields were identified.
Career Resource Centre: Along with the regular counseling done at school by school counselors, Ex-
students also guided students to help them explore new arenas in the various fields. Dr. Pratibha Upadhyay
from MITSOM College, Pune conducted a career seminar on 5th
November 2016 for the students of class
XII. She updated the students about the courses available after Grade XII for all streams. She also satisfied
the queries of students. The students of classes X and XI attended a work shop conducted by a motivational
speaker Mr. Luv Dileep Grover, the resource person from ‘Thought Designer’ who explained the term self
- motivation to these children.
Various awareness sessions were also conducted in school. Two sessions of awareness were organized by
VCW. The first was on “Computer Security” conducted by Mr. M.Toshniwal on 30th
Nov 2016 and other
was on “Earthquake and flood awareness” taken by Mr.Anjani Sharma on 22nd
Dec 2016. 157 students of
the school participated in the Safety Guidance on uses of LPG which was conducted by Gramin Gas Vitrak
Parivar, Nayagaon along with Vikram Jan Seva Trust.
Training and Development: The Safety committee of school gave training to all teachers on 23rd
November, 2016 on evacuation plan for students during any emergency. Advanced ICR training was
conducted by Mr.Arvind Soni from NIIT Mumbai on 10th
November, 2017.
Safety Awareness: 19th
January was an eventful day as it was the culmination of the Road Safety Week at
Vikram Cement Works. Students joined a rally to spread awareness for Road safety and reached the Staff
Club Dome. The Unit Head VCW, DIG CRPF and eminent guests graced the occasion organized by the
Safety Department VCW. All the members present took the oath to follow the Road safety norms. Our
students performed a skit on Road Safety which was praised by one and all. Winners of the Poster
Competition and participants of the skit were motivated with tokens of appreciation. It was a memorable
day as all the students promised to be responsible citizens of the country.
Co-Curricular Activities: The real aim of education can be fully realized by introducing co-curricular
activities at every stage of education. Through CCA we provide scope for democratic living, develop social
skills, a sense of co-operation, team spirit & self-discipline among students. Various inter-house
competitions and activities were conducted as they encourage healthy competition among students. In
Group ‘A’ Solo Dance Competition, English and Hindi Story Telling Activity and Group Song Competition
were held. In Group ‘B’ Rangoli Making Competition and Salad Decoration with Father were conducted. In
Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ Power Point Presentation, Hindi Poem Composing (Gr. C), Robotics and Calligraphy
Competitions were organized. The new initiatives included the celebration of Milk Day, Father’s Day Out-
A Kite Flying Competition and Vegetable Mart at ABPS.
National Milk Day National Milk Day was celebrated in school on the 95th
birth anniversary of Dr.
Verghese Kurien to make the tiny tots understand the importance of consuming milk and milk products. We
remembered him for his contribution in making India the largest producer of milk in the world. They all
happily joined the celebration and were distributed milk chocolate.
Papa’s Day Out- A Kite Flying Competition The festival of Makar Sankranti was celebrated in school
with great fervour. To strengthen the Parent-child bonding and to spend some quality time outdoors, Papa’s
Day Out – A Kite Flying Competition was organized for the children of classes Nursery to V. Fathers in
large number participated in the competition with children to try their hands on Kite Flying. Many of the
mothers also came to witness the competition and encourage their children. The school ground was agog
with activity and everyone was passionate to take their kite higher and higher. There were cheers and
applauses as the kites rose up in the air. Children were excited as they held the kites and helped their fathers
to fly them. It was a great success and was appreciated by everyone.
Vegetable Mart in School: An interesting activity was organized in school. A vegetable vendor was
invited to the school premises. A variety of vegetables were displayed for the kids of Nursery to Two. The
main motive was to give them practical knowledge of various vegetables and encourage them to consume
them in their daily diet. Children were able to recognise most of the seasonal vegetables like cabbage,
cauliflower, capsicum, peas, brinjal and got the information about vegetables like broccoli, yam, turnip, beet
root etc. They recognised the colours, shapes and names of various vegetables. The basic concept was clear
to the junior pupils through this novel method of teaching and it proved to be a great learning experience.
Social & Cultural Commitment: Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti was celebrated in school. The students
decorated the display boards with informative articles and pictures of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur
Shastri. The Principal and the teachers offered floral tributes to the great leaders and vowed to follow their
principles in life.
The festival of Dussehra symbolizing strength and justice was celebrated in school to make our children
learn the victory of good over evil. The teachers narrated the story of Lord Rama to the students. The
students of Nursery and Prep were given the masks of Hanuman, the great devotee of Shri Rama prepared
by their class teachers. The teachers of classes I and II prepared golden clubs (gadas) for them and their
happiness knew no bounds as they posed themselves for a group snap holding the ‘gadas’. All children were
so excited to receive their Dussehra gifts that they left school saying ‘Jai Shri Ram’ before the Dussehra
Break.
Annual Function-Abhivyakti : The ABPS Khor celebrated its Annual Function ABHIVYAKTI on 13th
November, 2016 at the Staff Club Dome. The dignitaries who graced the evening with their illustrious
presence were the Chief Guest Honorable Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, IPS Superintendent of Police,
Neemuch and the Guest of Honour, Shri Ashok Khuntwal, Executive President VCW and Chairman ABPS.
Shri Ranjeet Singhvi Ji, Jt. Executive President HR, P&A and Secretary ABPS,Ms. Singhvi, the Functional
Heads and dignitaries from VCW.
The auspicious lamp lighting ceremony marked the beginning of the programme. A beautiful Durga Stuti at
the outset mesmerized the audience. This was followed by the heart stealing performances by the tiny tots
which included the Ketchup and Burger Dance and Tarzan and Jane Dance.
The other performances which brought out the talent of students to the fore were Qawwali, Arabian Dance,
Hasya Kavi Sammelan, solo songs and Shiv Vivah- a dance drama beautifully depicting the story of Lord
Shiva’s marriage with Parvati. The programme left an indelible mark on the audience.
The Republic day was jointly celebrated by VCW, ABPS and ABHSS. The Chief Guest of the day Shri
Ashok Khuntwal ji, Executive President VCW and Chairman ABPS unfurled the tricolour and felicitated
the outstanding achievers of the session. Smartly dressed students of all the four houses marched past the
stage to the tune of the sonorous school band. The band contingent then displayed a beautiful retreat. The
occasion was graced by the illustrious presence of Mrs. Rama Khuntwal, President Rajshree Mahila
Mandal, Shri Ranjeet Singhvi Ji, Jt. EP (HR& P&A) , dignitaries from VCW and distinguished parents.
The cultural programme that was presented in the post flag hoisting session included a string of spectacular
performances by students who were brimming with enthusiasm. There was a drill display with dumb bells,
laziums, pom-poms and rings that kept the spectators spell bound. It was followed by a rigorous fitness
regime Zumba presented in a synchronized manner. Finally all the students of ABPS came together wearing
tricolor caps and formed the ASHOK CHAKRA depicting continuity the sight of which mesmerized the
audience.
Christmas and Basant Panchmi Celebration: The festival of Christmas was celebrated with gaiety. The
arrival of spring was welcomed and blessings of Goddess Saraswati were sought on Basant Panchami.
Annual Athletic Meet: The 14th Annual Athletic meet of ABPS, Khor was organized on the school
grounds. Various track and field events were organized and students participated with great enthusiasm.
The events included short and long distance races for boys and girls and high jump, long jump, triple jump,
shot put, discus and javelin throw. Cycle race for senior boys was introduced for the first time. There was
great excitement among the students as the scores were announced. The winners were cheered and awarded
with Gold and Silver medals. Students showed true sportsmanship and team spirit during the event. It was
for the first time that the Sports Day for the Pre-primary children was organized separately. Interesting
events like Jalebi Race, Banana Race , Passing the Ring and Balloon Race were conducted for children.
There were special events for parents like Musical chair, slow cycling and three- legged race in which they
participated with great interest and made the event a great success.
Blessing Ceremony and Valediction: The school organized a Blessing Ceremony for the students of class
XII on 17th
February in the school premises. All the students of the outgoing batch assembled to seek the
blessings of Goddess of knowledge Saraswati, their Principal and teachers. They offered their prayers and lit
their candles in the pursuit of knowledge. Everyone prayed for the success of these students in the
forthcoming Board Examinations and wished them Good Luck for all their future endeavours. Then the
Principal and the teachers autographed their T-shirts extending their heartfelt wishes for them which could
be cherished by them forever and remind them of their school days. It was for the first time that such a
memorable Blessing Ceremony was organized in the school.
The next day was scheduled for the Farewell Ceremony which was hosted by class XI to bid a warm adieu
to class XII. They had prepared a beautiful documentary to be screened for their seniors. It covered the best
wishes of the Management and the school faculty and the highlights of the Blessing Ceremony as they were
ready to take their first flight on a Bon Voyage. Honourable guest Shri Ranjeet Singhvi Ji (Jt Executive
President HR P&A) blessed the children with his benign presence and reminisced his school days. He
lighted the auspicious lamp and blessed the students for success in their life. The children left the school
with soaring hopes and aspirations on a voyage into the outside world feeling nostalgic about their school
life.
