Start with both the Freedom15 Mold and the ARCast Polymer Resin at “room temperature”, we recommend 70-75F Watch the Freedom15 Mold Assembly Video. Assemble and apply RTV silicone between the mold halves. Apply silicone around the pins/bolts on the outside of mold. Resin leaks from the pins or bolts could cause an air bubble. Watch the Freedom15 Mold Pour Video. Shake the resin bottles for a few seconds. Let the resin sit after shaking for 20 minutes to reduce air-bubbles. ! Remember: Air-bubbles are not your friend. Air-bubbles will reduce the strength of the ARCast Polymer Resin. In cold climates: heat the ARCast Resin parts A&B in the sink using HOT Water until the resin is 70F. ! Do not get any water into the resin cans. Do NOT heat longer than Five minutes. ! The best pour results are achieved at a resin temp of 70F (this allows the longest timeframe for air to escape). Use a digital scale to measure the amounts of polymer resin (4 ounces Part A and 2 ounces Part B) If adding color dye, mix/stir the color into Part B for at least 90 seconds. A longer mix time is better with multiple colors. ! Max Coloring: 30 drops of dye. After mixing, let Part B sit for 20 minutes to reduce air-bubbles in the final mixture. Pour Part A into Part B and then mix/stir for EXACTLY 90 seconds. ! Failure to stir for 90 seconds will reduce Polymer strength. This and a starting resin temp of 75F are critical steps. ! If you mix Part A and B for too long, or if you heat the ARCast Resin above 75F your pour time will be reduced. ! Reduced pour time = air-bubbles. Air-bubbles affect strength and we want to reduce them as much as possible. ! If you start mixing both resin parts at 70F: ARCast will begin to Gel around 8:30 if timed from the start of mixing. To avoid un-mixed ARCast Resin entering your pour: Use the double-cup mix method: AFTER 65 seconds of mixing, pour the entire mixture into a new clean cup and continue to mix for an additional 25 seconds. Pour a third of the mixed resin at a time into the mold. Move the mold like we do in the pour video to expel air bubbles. ! The slower you can make each third of a pour, the less air-bubbles you will create. ! Be sure to have your Freedom15 Mold FULL by the 4:45 mark from start of mixing A&B together. Watch as the resin thickens in the mixing cup, after it gels insert the fill plug. Wait as long as possible to insert the plug. ! A starting ARCast resin/room temp of 70F will give the best pour results and the longest time before the resin gel’s. ! Insert the fill plug, around the 8:15-8:45 mark from start of mixing, or when the resin is starting to gel/harden. ! Wait as long as possible before inserting the fill plug, so air-bubbles had the max opportunity to exit. Start your timer when the fill plug is inserted. Wait 75 minutes and demold unit at the 75 minute mark. ! The easiest demold will occur after 75 minutes. If you wait longer it will be more difficult to remove from the mold. ! If you turn one of the small pins 90 degrees and it doesn’t break free, STOP, wait 10 more minutes and try again. ! Work the unit free using both sides of the MagWell and by bumping the White buffer tube screw. ! Only pry up on both sides of the MagWell block. Do NOT pry in other areas, the unit is not at full strength yet. Allow the Freedom15 Lower Receiver to sit/cure at “room temperature” 70F for at least 18 hours before hardening. Harden the receiver by placing it in a toaster over for 2 Hours at 135F. Place receiver upright on the Mag Well. ! Do NOT exceed 150F during hardening. Lower temp and longer time = better (100F for 4 hours will give good results). ! We recommend using a toaster to harden, as most kitchen ovens are unable to achieve a low enough temperature.
