children read without the teacher, supporting each other. Teacher helps if everyone struggles.

making sure they answer in full sentences. Remind them about when and where we use capital letters and full stops. Demonstrate writing the answers for them. Let them help with the spelling of the words from the story.

The Egg Hunt Kate came to stay. Mum and Kate made a cake. Kate put little eggs on it. Wilma looked at the little eggs. She had an idea. Wilma went to the park. She wanted to hide some eggs. She put them in the trees. She put them in the flowers. Wilf and Kate came to the park. “You can look for the eggs,” said Wilma. Kate looked for the eggs. “Where are they?” she said. 5. This week we are going to learn how to sequence (order) sentences according to how they happened in the story. Step 1: Look at the sentences below. Read them through.

“You can look for the eggs,” said Wilma. Wilma looked at the little eggs. The squirrels had them.

She wanted to hide some eggs. Step 2: Using the story on the previous page, find the sentences in the actual story and underline them using a ruler. Step 3: Now number them in order from 1 to 4.

This is what your story will look like once you have underlined the sentences.

9. Comprehension.

Start by writing the date and the heading.

Cut out these pictures to help you answer each question.

Questions: Help your child to read these questions three times before attempting to answer them. The answers must be full sentences (see answers). Remind your child to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. They will require help to write words such as pretending, thought, etc. but most of the words are in the story if they look carefully. Encourage your child to look at the story for help.

Week 3/4 Phonics Test

This week, now that you all have an exercise book to work in, we would like

you to start setting the test out as follows.

The test words are out of 14 marks

For the sentence, there are a total of 8 marks. One mark for each word. One mark for a capital letter at the beginning and one mark for a full stop at the end.
