A big thank you to everyone who attended the Back to School P&C Meeting last week at Fingal Bay Sports Club. Thank you to the Club for hosting all of us – it was a nice to have a change of venue! It was great to have an in-creased number of people at the Meeting with a few new faces as well. A special guest - Harvey Bennett from 1/2P - attended to present some wonderful ideas for reducing waste as

well as improving the way we recycle and collect food waste at school. The meeting was filled with discussion about fundraising ideas, changes to the canteen, Class and Student allocation, South Playground and much more. The feedback and suggestions received from the parents and the school were greatly appreciated and will help the Committee move forward in 2019 with some new and exciting events and fundraising ideas. One of the first things to happen this week is that the School Can-teen will be selling School Hats and Library Bags. They will be available at the same price as they are being sold in Bella Rose Boutique - Hat $20 and Library Bag $16.50. Secondly: Who would like to see a 2nd Hand Uniform Shop at school? Many people have said YES and now it is a work in pro-gress for the P&C. We plan to have the shop up and running for its opening at the Welcome BBQ on 12th March. The wonderful Jo Fletcher has been kind enough to volunteer some time to set the Shop up and help out. Thanks to Tugba Tugal for putting her hand up to help as well. We REALLY need some more helpers though! Helping out doesn’t need to take up a lot of your time. We would love to have some people volunteer to take on small jobs such as - Collect the clothes and wash & dry them at the laundromat (cost paid for by the P&C) - Iron and hang stock. - Mend buttons & patch holes. - Complete the inventory. - Clean the store area. - Manage the shop finances. - Source and manage stock. The plan is to stock the shop with donated uniforms and also lost items left in the school yard. (Any lost items that are labelled with names will be returned to its owner). If anyone has clothes hangers or portable clothes rack on wheels to donate please see Jo Fletcher or Michelle Edwards. At present the Pop-Up Shop will only be opened twice a term, until we have some more helpers. We have decided to trial this idea until the end of Term 2 and then a decision will be made as to whether or not to continue. Our next meeting will be the AGM and also regular monthly meet-ing, 12th March at The School Library after the welcome BBQ. All positions on the committee will be open for nomination and elec-tion at the AGM. We would love to see you there to vote in our new committee members for 2019. We invite all who would like to be involved and have a say in making a difference in our school to come along to the AGM and our monthly meetings. The following positions will be open for nominations: President Vice President x 2 Secretary Treasurer Fundraising Co-ordinator Uniform Shop Co-ordinator Canteen Support Co-ordinator Social Media Officer

It will also be time to renew your P&C membership of $2. Please email [email protected] Canteen News The Canteen is always welcoming of new and returning volun-teers. If you volunteered last year we would love to see you return again this year. The school canteen is open 5 days a week and we would really like some help between the hours of 8:40 am and 12 noon. Even if you can only come in for 1 hour or the whole time we would love the support. New and Exciting things at the Canteen The canteen will now be trialling being open at recess from this week until the end of Term 1 to see how it goes. Please note: No hot food available at recess or recess orders. New canteen items: The canteen will be making banana breads and muffins to sell at breakfast, lunch and recess. Please note: There will now be prod-ucts that contain EGG in the canteen. Egg sandwich will not be offered! Lunch order bags: The canteen will soon be taking orders for reusable lunch order bags, these bags can be pre-ordered at the canteen. Brown paper bags: Brown paper lunch bags will now incur a 10c charge so we are encouraging you to provide your own paper bag or purchase the reusable lunch bag which will be coming soon to the canteen. This charge will come into full effect in Week 5. Plastic knives, forks and spoons: There has been a increase in the demand for the canteen to sup-ply plastic cutlery to students who have forgotten theirs for their lunch, this will now incur a 5c charge, this charge will come into full effect Week 5. School Hats: School hats will now be available at the school canteen. Hotdog Day: Hotdog day Tuesday the 26th Feb. please keep an eye out for your hotdog day note. Volunteers that would like to help in the canteen please remember to wear closed in shoes, shirts with sleeves and their hair tied back. We Look forward to meeting new and returning volunteers. Remember you need to fill out paperwork at the office. Regards Canteen Manager Courtney Schmarr.
