We have commenced the year with 223 students across 9 classes. The expec- tation is that we will continue to grow steadily though- out the year as houses continue to be completed at Redbank. I would like to take this opportunity to wel- come our new teachers—Mrs Riley who will be teach- ing Kindergarten, Mrs Roze who will be working with Mrs Wilkins and Mrs McDonald’s class and Mr Palla- dino who will be teaching 3/4. I am confident that each of these teachers will bring a range of new skills and experiences to our students. A huge welcome also to our new Kindy students who started on Mon- day. Class Information Sessions Next Tuesday evening we will be holding our class information sessions for parents. These sessions provide an excellent opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and to get an overview of the things your child will be learning over the year. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for new families to connect with other families and get to know a little more about our school. There will be a P&C meeting immediately after the Information Sessions for those that may be interested in attending. The P&C is our main parent body within the school. The P&C contributes actively in decision making and school policy as well as con- ducting a number of school events as well as fund- raising for school programs. Joining the P&C is a great way to have your voice heard and to assist di- rectly in making our school stronger. After School Activities Parents will receive a second note today about after school activities. We are attempting to work with out- side providers with the aim of providing several oppor- tunities for our students to participate in worthwhile after school activities. Community use of our facilities provides extra funds for our school and our students benefit as they have access to these activities locally and at a convenient time. While a number of people have returned their expression of interest form, there is still time for others to respond. We have extended the return date to next Friday 16 February. If your child would be interested in participating in any of the after school activities on offer, please return the form to the school office. New School Uniform It has been great to see so many students wearing the new school uniform so early in the year. The students look sharp and really stand out. At the P&C meeting next Tuesday I will be presenting our new draft school uniform policy for discussion. The policy will clearly outline our expectations with regards to uniform. Fol- lowing the P&C meeting, I will publish the draft policy in the next school newsletter. Gazette article There was a wonderful article on our new Kindy stu- dents in the Gazette this week.
