A Students Prayer for a New School Year
Bless us as we start this new year with our friends and teachers. Help us to make the most of every chance we have to start afresh.
May we show love to one another and to all. May the new beginning of this school year
remind us that you give us chances to start over again and again. Help us to forgive others as we receive your forgiveness.
Help us to learn and to work together. Help us to listen when we should and to know the best words when we speak
and when it is better not to speak.
We thank you for our friends. Help us to be good friends this year. Help us to be patient with ourselves and with others.
Bless our school and keep us safe. Be with us as we travel each day.
Bless all those who care for us In school and at home. Help us show our care for them and to say sorry when we need to.
Amen
Term 1 Week 1 1st February 2018
Beginning of the School Year Mass
Next Friday 9th February we will be celebrating our Beginning of the School Year Mass at 10:30am. All families
are invited to attend.
Big Brekky
As a celebration and welcome to the new school year we have organised a Big Brekky for
Friday 16th February commencing at 8:00am. All families are welcome to join us for
breakfast in the central courtyard and feast upon a range of danishes, fruit, sausages, juice
and tea and coffee (a Coffee Van will be on site). It will be a time to catch-up, meet new
people and just enjoy the new year. The event will be hosted in conjunction with our PFA
and should be a fantastic event. We hope to see you all there!
We will be asking for a gold coin donation (per person) which we will be collecting for Project Compassion as
our first Social Justice action for the year.
ICT Student Access Agreement
Attached to this newsletter is our Student Information and Communication Technology Usage Policy. We ask
that you read this in conjunction with the Information & Communications Technology Student Access
Agreement form which your child will bring home today.
Please take the time to discuss with your child the agreement and once signed by both parent and child, return
the form to your child’s teacher.
We ask that forms are returned for the beginning of next week so that complete access to students can be granted.
Sacrament Dates 2018
To assist with your forward planning please be advised that dates for children receiving Sacraments this year
are as follows:
Confirmation (Year 6): Sunday 29th April at 11:00am
First Communion (Year 3): Sunday 3rd June at 11:00am
First Reconciliation (Year 2): Wednesday 24th October at 7:00pm
Calendar Dates
Our school Calendar is available and can be accessed via our website or via our
school app. Please check regularly for updates and new events. For new families
to the school we recommend you download our app via iTunes or Google Play
store.
This app also allows you to easily submit student absences and allows you to
receive important ‘push notifications’ from us.
Wrapper Free School
Just a reminder that through a student initiative implemented in 2014 to become more sustainable as a school
and to reduce waste, we are striving to become a Wrapper Free School. Students are encouraged to make their
lunch boxes wrapper free and to bring lots of ‘nude food’ to school. Rubbish bins have been removed from the
eating area and any non-paper wrappers or waste the children have will be placed in their lunch boxes and
returned home. This will also encourage us to eat healthier…because if it’s packaged… it’s probably not as
good for you. We encourage families to use small re-usable containers to store food items within lunchboxes.
All children have the opportunity to return lunch boxes and containers to their classroom once they’ve finished
eating and before going to play. Clean paper (e.g. paper lunch bags) can be placed in the recycled paper bins.
Toilets
A reminder that at no stage are parents/adults permitted to enter the student toilets. Access is however available
to the disabled toilet.
Car Park
Since we have a number of new families commencing at Corpus Christi School this year I thought it timely to
revisit school ‘drop off’ and ‘pick-up’ procedures. Families can use either end of the school to drop off and
collect their children. However it is of utmost importance that all families adhere to the parking restrictions
within the school car park and surrounding streets.
In the front car park, parking IS ONLY PERMITTED in designated parking bays and ‘Keep Clear’ areas and
No Standing areas must be kept clear. There is NO ‘drop-off’ zone. Cars must be parked in the designated bays.
If the car park is full it will be necessary for people to park outside the school grounds and walk in to collect
their child (look on the bright side…. it’s good exercise). Children are not permitted to walk unattended through
the car park.
If dropping off or collecting your children from the Ormond Road
entrance of the school, basic road laws and common sense prevails.
Please do not double park, perform 3-point turns in the street or
allow your children to enter/exit cars unless they have pulled up at
the kerb. Children are not permitted to cross Ormond Road by themselves. Parents are to collect their children
from the gate.
The No Stopping signs outside our gate must be observed at all times!
These rules are put into place to ensure the safety of our children! You may also like to consider arriving for
pick-up just after 3:30pm so as to miss the ‘peak hour’ traffic.
Time-Table/Specialist Programs
Specialist programs will commence next week (see details below). Please note that children are to wear their
SPORTS uniform (2 days per week) on days where they are scheduled for Physical Education and SPORT.
REMINDER
No children (including toddlers)
are to play on the Adventure
playground before or after school
Sharing of Food
It is important to remind all children and families that at no time should children be sharing food with other
children during eating times. We have a number of children with food allergies so, for the safety of all, we ask
all families to reiterate the importance, with their children, of not sharing food with others.
Throughout the year, children may bring lolly bags to school to share with their classmates to celebrate their
birthday; however we ask that these be distributed by the class teacher at home time and are only eaten with the
permission of parents. Please do not bring cakes to school.

Fees and Levies 2018
Invoices for Fees and Levies for 2018 will be sent to all families next week. Money raised from the collection
of fees and levies allows us to offer our extra-curricula activities such as: Mathletics Program, Swimming
Program, Dance Program, Interschool Sports Program, excursions and so on as well as covering all stationery
requirements for students, classroom and program supplies/resources.
Private income raised from levies also assists with the constant upgrading of systems and programs, funding of
capital works, maintenance of our buildings as well as the school environment.
It is important that all families be prepared to meet this financial commitment. Our policy, in keeping with that
of the CECV, recognises that some families face difficulties and as such consideration or concession may be
given. If any family finds themselves in this situation, they are asked to contact me via the school office.
Sun Smart
As per our Sun Smart policy,
students are required to wear
their school hat while outdoors
during Terms 1 and 4.
All students must adhere to this
rule. No Hat No Play!
As per information sent to all families last year our Fee and Levy Structure for 2018 is as follows:
The Individual Pupil Levy (Curriculum Levy): $440.00 payable before 28th February, 2018
School (Family) Fees: $1275.00 -
Term 1 Instalment: $425 due by 29th March 2018
Term 2 Instalment: $425 due by 29th June 2018 Term 3 Instalment: $425 due by 21st September 2018
Capital Levy: $100.00 payable by 29h June 2018.
Alternatively, you can set up periodic payments through your bank account with the total payable by 21st
September 2018. This may be a really feasible and manageable way for families to account fee and levy
obligations.
Please be advised that families who hold a valid Health Care Card for the 2018 year will also receive $100
rebate from the school in addition to the Camp, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) government rebate currently
at $125 per primary aged child. New applications for the CSEF can be collected from the school office or are
available to download from the school website. These are due at to the office by 28th February. Families who
received CSEF assistance last year do not need to fill out a new application unless details have changed.
Out of Hours School Care: After School Care
OSHClub continues to be our service provider for our ‘After School Care’ Program. Times are as follows:
After School Care: 3:30pm – 6:00pm (afternoon tea will be provided upon arrival)
Curriculum Days (School Closure Days): 9:00am – 6:00pm (If sufficient bookings are received)
We strongly urge EVERY family to complete the online enrolment/registration form by accessing
www.oshclub.com.au so that the service can be accessed should an emergency arise such as a car breakdown,
being held up at work etc. A simple phone call can ensure that your child is looked after while you are held up.
Remember… the service is available to ALL families, regardless of whether they are working or not. Sometimes
it’s nice to be able to go shopping on your own or have that ‘cuppa’ with a friend knowing that your children
are being safely minded (and probably having an absolute ball) at OSHClub.
Children can be either registered as a ‘permanent’ or ‘casual’ booking. A permanent booking means that your
children will be attending on regular days each week and you are guaranteed a place.
Most families are eligible for Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR 50%). The CCR returns
to families 50% of all out of pocket costs from attending the program. The full fee applies for families who do
not apply for and are not eligible for CCB and CCR (50% rebate).
There are four ways to receive your CCR:
1. Direct to your CCB approved child care service paid fortnightly
2. Direct to your bank account paid fortnightly
3. Quarterly payment to your bank account
4. Annual payment to your bank account
For further information please contact either myself or Kristen, our OSHClub co-ordinator
Contact details are as follows:

Lunch Orders Our lunch order service commences next week and is available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A price
list is attached.
Student Banking A reminder that our Student Banking Program, facilitated by the Bendigo Bank Seddon Community Bank,
commences next Thursday 8th February and will then run every Thursday morning before school at our Pop-Up
Bank located just outside the Library. Children just need to bring their passbook (with deposit) to school on
this day and present to the Bendigo Bank personnel.
If any family wishes to join, simply visit our Pop-Up Bank on Thursdays.
CareMonkey A reminder that we use CareMonkey for collecting medical information for students,
communicating excursions, gathering permissions and so on. It provides parents the
opportunity to update medical information promptly and accurately while providing
the school with instant access to the emergency information provided by you.
All new parents would have already received an invitation to join CareMonkey, via
email, and enter details for your child/children. By following the instructions, you can create your own free
CareMonkey account and control all data about your child/children. It’s really easy to use. You just need to
monitor your email account regularly for school communicated excursions and ‘grant permission’ where
necessary.
Absentees
Please note that is a requirement that parents notify the school (preferably in writing) of all instances when
their child may be absent for all or part of a day. This can be easily done via our school app. Alternatively you
can contact the school office by phone to report an absenteeism.
Art Smocks
All new children to the school will receive their art smocks at their first Art class commencing next week. If
other children have outgrown their art smock new ones are available to purchase from Miss Nathalie in the art
room at a cost of $15.
Have a wonderful week
God Bless

STUDENT INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY USAGE POLICY
CORPUS CHRISTI PRIMARY SCHOOL
KINGSVILLE
Rationale At Corpus Christi Primary School, the use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is required for
all students. The Internet is a valuable tool to be used as a supervised resource by students. ICT may be used
on our local area network, on our intranet via the Catholic Education Wide Area Network, using the Internet to
access global websites such as Google Apps for Education (GAFE) or other digital communication services. A
range of digital equipment may be used including computers, laptops & other portable devices.
At Corpus Christi School we believe that we all have the right:
To feel safe and be safe
To learn
To be respected for who we are and for what we have to offer
To be part of a happy and peaceful school
To work and play in a clean, comfortable environment
ICT and Cyber safety
We abide by these beliefs when using Information & Communication Technology. Our school provides a
positive culture where bullying is not accepted. We all will have the right of respect from others, the right to
learn or to teach, and a right to feel safe and secure in our school environment. This is the same when using
technology. We are determined to create an optimal environment in which students feel emotionally and
physically safe; where students take an active role in their learning.
Corpus Christi Primary School believes that it is appropriate that clear guidelines are defined and adhered to
in regard to all ICT access. It is expected that students will take full responsibility for their use of this
technology, parents will support their child and the school in monitoring ICT usage and teachers will
continually educate our students about responsible ICT usage.
The appropriate use of digital tools such as computers, the internet, email & electronic communication must be
understood by all to ensure that problems do not arise. Potential problems which can arise may include:
defamation, intellectual property/copyright issues, harassment and discrimination, criminal issues, such as
hacking, and intentionally spreading viruses.
Important terms used in this document:
(a) The abbreviation ‘ICT’ in this document refers to the term ‘Information and Communication Technologies.
(b) ‘Cybersafety’ refers to the safe and responsible use of the Internet and ICT equipment/devices, including mobile phones
(c) ‘Google Apps for Education’ (GAFE) refers to the set of Google tools children will use throughout the year. This includes
but is not limited to, Google Drive Suite, Google Sites, Youtube, Mymaps and Picasa.
(d) ‘School ICT’ refers to the school’s computer network, Internet access facilities, computers, and other school ICT
equipment/devices as outlined in (d) below
(e) The term ‘ICT or digital equipment/devices/tools’ used in this document, includes but is not limited to, computers (such as
desktops, laptops, PDAs), storage devices (such as USB and flash memory devices, CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, iPods, MP3
players), cameras (such as video, digital, webcams), all types of mobile phones, video and audio players/receivers (such as
portable CD and DVD players),Gaming Consoles, and any other, similar, technologies as they come into use.
Implementation:
This Information & Communication Technology Policy will be issued upon enrolment of the student in the
school along with the Student Information and Communication Technology Access Agreement which needs to
be signed by both parent and child. This access agreement will be issued to families on an annual basis for
review and completion in order for the child to have access to our School’s ICT tools.
All students are issued with an ICT account, including email and a Google Apps for Education (GAFE) Account.
When students use electronic communication at our school it will be part of a supervised program to enrich the
learning experience.
At Corpus Christi School we are engaged with our wider community and we regularly communicate through
Information & Communication Technology. Your child’s photograph, work or video footage may be published
(including electronically using ICT tools) with discretion as deemed appropriate by the school.
The school will not be seeking special permission to do this. If a student’s photo appears, only their first name
will be used if appearing on World Wide Web pages. Newsletters will also be published online. Full names may
be published but only when not attached with an image.
If parents do not wish their child’s image or work to be published in this way or, if parents have any other
objections to their child’s ICT account, they are to notify the principal in writing.
If information is found which students, teachers or other people feel is inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive in
any way, it should be reported to the supervising teacher and reported immediately to the Principal. It is each
person’s responsibility to ensure that the offending material is not shared, printed, copied or saved.
All users are advised that a filter is in use at Corpus Christi which screens all incoming and outgoing electronic
mail and media. If inappropriate usage is detected, all rights will be removed immediately until the matter can
be investigated to the satisfaction of the Principal.
Consequences ranging from loss of privileges for a day, week, month or term may be administered. In severe
cases parents will be contacted and privileges will be suspended for a term. Implementation of the most
appropriate consequences will occur after discussion with the child, the classroom teacher and the Principal.
Evaluation:
This policy will be reviewed as part of the school’s review cycle.
This was policy was last ratified in December 2014.
OSHClub News After School Care Program Hi families; happy new year to you all, it’s great to be back for 2018. We’ve got a pretty quiet first week but I’m expecting bookings to pick up next week. Please log into your OSHClub account to update your children’s details, such as what grade they are in, emergency contacts and people authorised to collect your children from OSHClub and any medical conditions that are new or are no longer relevant. At the moment you will need to book your children in 24 hours in advance of an After School Care session. If you miss the cut-off, send a text message to us on 0401 501 661. A late booking fee will apply for non-online bookings. I will post in the newsletter again next week with any changes to the system. Please remember we are unable to release children to anyone not listed as a contact in their OSHClub enrolment form. If you are sending an unauthorised person to collect your child, we need authorisation in writing – please send a text message including the FULL NAME of the person collecting your child and inform them that they will be required to produce photo ID at collection. If you anticipate this person collecting your child more than once, the easiest thing is to add this person to your enrolment form. I have not planned activities for next week yet. I am hoping the children will use the Blank Planner we created last year to give us some ideas for what they would like to do at After School Care. Please encourage your children to make requests for activities – you can even pop in on a non-OSHClub-day when you collect your children so they can add requests to the planner. All children who attend OSHClub have a portfolio which contains observations written by staff and, in some cases, artwork samples produced during after school care. You are always welcome to stay for a while when you collect your children to play with them, look at the Reflection Scrapbook, your child/ren's portfolio, or our Quality Improvement Plan. REMINDERS: If you need to cancel ASC please do so on the internet 24 hours in advance, otherwise leave a message on 0401 501 661 on the day, or pop in to let staff know you are collecting your child so that we know where the children are. OSHClub is open 3:00-6:00pm. There is a $2/minute fee for each family that is picked up after 6pm.
