KY, KDY series splitcase two-stage and multistage centrifugal pump are API BB1, BB3 pumps designed and manufactured completely in accordance with API610 11th Edition for guaranteed service life Min. 30 years and 3 years continuous operation without any trouble. KY, KDY series pumps developed on basis of advanced technologies introduced from international leading players in the same field. As a V-FLO intellectual property, it features an optimized performance design, compact structure and high efficiency for smooth running with extended operation zone and perfect anti-cavitation performance. Bearing temperature and vibration monitoring systems can be installed as options. KY, KDY series pumps are widely used as the heart and engine in the booster pump stations or process of long-distance oil pipeline, crude oil depot and oil refinery, petrochemical plant, oil tanker loading & unloading, offshore oil platforms as well as water injection in oil production and feed water pump for boilers.

V. Hydraulic DesignHigh Efficiency & Energy Saving

Hydraulic performance for each pump are based on the optimized design output from advanced design software, CFX fluid simulation analysis plus prototype model verification tests. Pump efficiency is normally 3%~5% higher than similar products of competitors with a very wide operation zone and energy consumption are remarkably reduced as a result.

Low noise and pulsation, reliable running

Double-suction impeller is designed with impeller vanes at both sides in uniform alternative arrangement so as to change the frequency of liquid passing through the impeller and eliminate pulsation. In other words, it is such a low-frequency hydraulic design that low noise and low vibration operation are intrinsically ensured.

At the same time, the total number of vanes and number of flow channels of the double volute casing are relative prime numbers, which helps to optimize and match the cutwater and operation clearance between impellers and volute casing, so that possible surging vibrations that may be caused due to even frequency and unreasonable clearance are eradicated. It is also good to say that less failure and more reliable and stable operation are ensured.

Transit passageway with balanced radial force design

Double transit passageways are designed in complete symmetrical arrangement as a result the radial forces are completely balanced.

VI. Pump StructureKDY series splitcase multistage centrifugal pump is the optimized output of extensive study on structural features and performances of existing and available pumps for similar applications. It is a heavy duty centrifugal pump specially designed for oil and petrochemical transportation.

1. Pump Casing

Pump casing is of horizontal splitcase structure, both suction inlet and discharge outlet are located under pump shaft center line, and it only needs to lift the rotor after opening the pump cover for maintenance without moving pipelines and driving motor.

Pump casing is of center line support structure, which guarantees an uniform and minimum casing deformation when the temperature changes of pump casing, suction inlet and discharge outlet.

Pump pressure chamber is designed as double volute structure to balance the radial force, remove or reduce the alternating stress applied on rotor so as to improve the shaft fatigue and extend the pump service life.

Suction chamber is designed in half spiral shape to increase the pre-rotation and improve the anti-cavitation performance.

Pump casing wall thickness design is based on ANSYS strength analysis results plus necessary corrosion allowance according to API 610 standard. Any demanding pressure rating requirements can be completely complied without exception.

2. Impeller

Optimized hydraulic performance design through software and CFX fluid simulation analysis plus prototype model test verification to ensure high efficiency in a wide operation zone.

Anti-cavitation design impeller, especially suitable for application in low-cavitation situations.

First stage impeller can be single or double suction design to achieve a necessary balance between efficiency and NPSH requirement. Width of impeller vanes may be appropriately increased to ensure high efficiency taking into account the oil viscosity.

3. Rotor

Rigid rotor design with sufficient shaft margin. All parts and accessories installed in shaft are subjected to dynamic balance as the rotor assembly to ensure reliable and smooth pump operation with minimum vibration. Dynamic balance shall be according to API 610 11th Edition.

Pump shaft is made of superior alloy steel as a minimum requirement and the coupling side is designed in conical structure for the convenience of disassembling.

Impeller keys are in 120° alternative and symmetrical arrangement on shaft to ensure shaft stiffness and reduce deflection of rotor.

Number of pump stages shall be even when first stage impeller is single suction and all impellers are in back-to-back arrangement, while for pumps with double suction first-stage impeller, the number of stages shall be odd and impellers except first stage shall be in back-to-back arrangement. As a result, axial forces are completely balanced.

4. Bearings, Lubrication & Cooling

There are 3 types of bearing arrangements, namely, rolling-element radial and thrust, hydrodynamic radial and rolling-element thrust, or hydrodynamic radial and thrust. In any case, the basic rated service life for each type shall be at least 40,000 hours on rated operation conditions.

Bearing housing is designed with increased capacity to ensure perfect oil lubrication at high speed continuous operation running at least 25,000h.

Bearing housing is designed with heat dissipation fins and cooling fans may also be equipped if necessary so as to ensure excellent bearing cooling.

Bearing housing is mounted with constant level oiler for automatic supplement in time in case of lubricating oil consumption.

6. Monitoring & Control Systems

Complete set of temperature, vibration and leakage sensors can be installed to be connected with MMS monitoring systems so as to enhance the pump operation safety and reliability.

a) Temperature Monitoring System

Temperature monitoring sensors may be installed for pump bearings (3 points) and pump casing (1 point). Temp. instrument can be Exd II BT4, IP65, PT100, 3-wire system or integrated temperature transmitter with digit display and 4-20mA output signal.

b) Vibration Monitoring System

Generally vibration monitoring can be proximity detectors rolling bearings or vortex detectors for sleeve bearings. Vibration detectors are normally installed at front and rear bearings (2 points) for horizontal and vertical vibration, keyphasor sensor can also be installed as required.

Vibration instrument can be Exd II BT4, IP65, PT100, 2-wire system or integrated transmitter with digit display and 4-20mA output signal.

c) Seal Leakage Monitoring System

Leakage monitoring detectors can be installed for measurement of mechanical seal leakage, either 1 for both front and rear or 1 for each front and rear.

It shall be a leakage detect switch, 2A dry contact (NO), Exd II BT4, IP65, as required.

7. Heat Tracing System

Complete heat tracing system can be equipped based on the pumped medium and site conditions.

The heat tracing system shall include 3 parts, namely electric heating band, insulation housing and explosion-proof temperature control panel.

Insulation areas: pump casing, pump cover, seal flushing piping, seal leakage monitoring piping, as applicable.

Temperature control range: up to 70℃

Heating bands for pump casing and pump cover shall be mounted separately.

Control instruments and panel shall be explosion-proof Exd II BT4, IP65.

Insulation housing arrangement shall be convenient for operation of vent and drain valves as well as convenient to check the instruments inside, in case of a permanent installation.

5. Seal System

API-682 cartridge mechanical seal & flushing systems with full options for leakage detection alarming and shutdown signals to ensure continuous failure-free long-term running in the most severe working environment.

Balancing pipeline is designed between high pressure and low pressure seal chambers so that mechanical seal working environment is improved for extended service life.

Mechanical seal flushing plans completely complies with API610 to ensure most appropriate flushing fluid for an extend service life of the seal systems.

Cartridge type mechanical seal system helps to avoid negative influence from accumulated errors on top of the convenience for disassembling, re-installation and maintenance.

8. Explosion-proof Local Control Panel (LCP)

The Explosion-proof LCP for pump start and stop can be installed on or by the pump skid for the convenience of local operation, equipped with:

- Displays for voltage and current

- Selection switch for remote, local operation and stop

- Indication lights for power, running and shutdown

- Push buttons for start, stop and emergency

9. Auxiliary Systems

a) Driving System

The pump can be driven by electric motor, steam turbine, diesel engine and other movers through diaphragm flexible coupling, and gearbox, hydraulic coupling or VFD for speed regulation, as required.

Coupling spacer shall be sufficient so that coupling, bearing and mechanical seals can be easily removed without disturbing the motor as well as suction and discharge pipelines.

b) Common Baseplate

Structure and function design of common baseplate comply with API610 standard.

Common baseplate shall be fabricated from channel steel with sufficient stiffness to meet mounting requirements. Anchor bolt holes are reserved surrounding the baseplate and anchor bolts shall be provided.

Horizontal and vertical jack screws and alignment shims shall be provided with the common baseplate.

c) Coupling Guard

Removable coupling guard shall be provided for each pump. It will be non-sparking type fabricated from aluminum alloy material and designed with anti-static grounding terminal.

Coupling guard shall be strong enough to bear flexible deformation and prevent the wear caused external contact.
