Federal Pell Grant Pell Grants are generally awarded to

undergraduate students—those who haven't earned a bachelor's or graduate degree.

In limited cases however, you could receive a Pell Grant if you're enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher certificate program.

TEACH GRANTS Available beginning July of 2008 $4,000 per year for undergraduate and credential work (for a

maximum of $16,000) Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA Must submit the FAFSA by March 2, 2008 Must be currently completing (or plan on completing)

coursework necessary to begin a career in teaching Mist meet basic eligibility requirements Must teach in a high-need field:

mathematics, science, foreign language, special education, bilingual education, reading specialist or other documented high-need fields

Must commit to teaching full-time in a high-need school for a minimum of four years (within 8 years of receiving your credential)

If teaching service is not met, the grant must be repaid as an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan

Tips for Standing Out in the Scholarship Competition

Follow all directions (everything requested for the scholarship application process)

Include a color photo

Include a table of contents in your application packet (application, essay, letters of recommendation, transcripts, cover letter, photo, etc.)

Use some color in your application packet (color digital photo, colored paper for table of contents, etc.)

Submit originals whenever you can, only first generation Xerox (copy)

Bind materials into a brightly colored report folder (so that it won’t come apart)

Mail flat (not folded) in a large envelope
