Teams are the heart of the

Alzheimer’s Tennessee WALK success. Families, businesses, churches, organizations, and school groups build teams to honor those who have been touched by Alzheimer’s.

Team captains and co-captains are the volunteer leaders who build excitement and lead teams meet fundraising goals. They motivate and encourage co-workers, friends, and family to join their team. Team Captains also act as key liaisons between their team and Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc.

Team members make a difference

by asking their colleagues, friends, family, and acquaintances to sponsor them with a donation to the cause.

Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. is an

independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit

organization founded in 1983.

Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. It is a progressive disease of the brain for which there is no cure. It is not un-common to occasionally forget things or lose items, but when memory problems get in the way of everyday living, reach out to Alzheimer’s Tennessee for more information or see your doctor.

One in 10 people over age 65 have Alzheimer’s disease, and nearly half of those age 85 and older may have the disease (CDC).

It is estimated an American is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s nearly every minute.

Now, more than ever, there is a need to provide education, services and support for those afflicted with this incurable, terminal illness that steals both memory and dignity.

Here for YOU Helpline: Locally-staffed Helpline provides support, information,

and referrals by phone.

Support Groups: Meetings with Alzheimer’s Tennessee partners

in your community are designed for family members, caregivers and

individuals coping with Alzheimer’s and are facilitated by trained

volunteers who receive monthly materials.

Education: for family and professional caregivers as well as

healthcare professionals.

Advocacy: Alzheimer’s Tennessee plays an active role in ensuring

local, state and national legislators pursue policies and programs to

protect families and provide needed assistance.

Financial Assistance: With the support of generous donors,

Alzheimer’s Tennessee offers “scholarships” to individuals living

with Alzheimer’s and their care partners based on financial need .

Research: Alzheimer’s Tennessee is committed to research efforts

to find a cure for Alzheimer’s

disease. Strategies are being developed by

Alzheimer’s Tennessee to promote the

most promising research in the field.

FAQ Q: How do I earn an Alzheimer’s Tennessee WALK t-shirt & incentives? A: To be guaranteed a t-shirt, you must pre-register by the deadline and

raise $50 or more. Additional incentives are awarded to WALKers who raise $100 or more and $200+.

Q: Does every team member have to register?

A: Yes, every walker must complete a registration form. Walkers may register online or by using the paper form found in the brochure. Note: If you wait to register at the WALK, you may increase your time at the registration table and will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Q: How do I turn in money?

A: Any time you turn in team or walker money, a contribution form should accompany your donation. This form is found in the Alzheimer’s WALK brochure. You can duplicate this form if needed. Checks should be made payable to Alzheimer’s Tennessee.

Q: Why should I keep track of my team members’ individual contributions? A: It’s important how you turn in your contributions. If you lump all of

your money together as a team, team members may not receive the incentive items for which they are individually eligible. You may choose to divide funds raised together and complete a contribution form for each team member designating the appropriate amount. Ultimately your team will also receive credit in your final team total.

Q: How do I volunteer on the day of the Alzheimer’s WALK? A: Register online or fill out a form and select which “jobs” interest you

most by the pre-registration deadline to receive a volunteer t-shirt. Volunteers will hear from Alzheimer’s Tennessee the week before the walk with “assignments” for the day of the event.
